I've complained about my hair - was I being out of order? Pics included.

I showed my hairdresser a photo of the hair that I wanted to achieve, and she said ooh lovely, will do that for you now. Great!

I've got home and had a proper look and feel like I have roots already - the colour starts about 2cm from my head. I went back in just now and said I really wasn't complaining but was there anything she could do to fix it and I would happily pay to have it changed.

Shes quite brash anyway, but she basically has shouted at me and said what did I expect from foils, and its my fault for putting home dye on previously. I'm booked in to have an ash colour added next week at her suggestion, but I am feeling a bit embarrassed as there was other customers in there. I've been going to her for years but never complained before.

Is my hair normal for foils? Can I do anything to sort it without losing the colour? I'm a bit gutted - it was meant to be a treat as I've been feeling crap about myself.

I can't see the original photo

twirlypoo · 28/03/2015 12:47

I think everyone is admiring the after photo of what I was aiming for!

She has gorgeous hair though - I want to be her and walk about swishing my lovely locks Envy

Ah. You have very nice hair too! I couldn't work out for the life of me what the problem was with the first photo.

But yes, that looks like regrowth. Looks like she hasn't 'snugged' the foils against your scalp enough. I would be looking for a re-do.

iniac · 28/03/2015 12:52

I have foils and there's usually a few mm's of regrowth. You have in excess of a cm there I would say.
A good hairdresser would put that right - she's clearly not a good hairdresser. What a shame you've had to spend that money.

KatyMac · 28/03/2015 12:54

How odd the first photo is now back too

giraffesNeedBigPoloNecks · 28/03/2015 12:55

Thst looks like when I tried to do foils myself! !

StayGoldPonyBoy · 28/03/2015 12:57

As a hairdresser that amount of root is unacceptable. She's been sloppy with her foils and it's not okay. I get a bit annoyed when clients come in and pull their hair flat to their head to reveal 5mm of root colour and say that I haven't done them close enough, but yours hasn't been done well I'm afraid.

Don't go back, she sounds a right piece of work Hmm Where are you OP? If it's West Yorks I can recommend some absolutely brilliant stylists at a few salons. Not myself, I'm not that vain Wink

twirlypoo · 28/03/2015 13:16

Im in Newcastle upon Tyne or I would have happily come to see you!

Can anyone help me compose an email to her? I don't want to go in all guns blazing as I will still See her around - it makes it so much harder Confused

TheFairyCaravan · 28/03/2015 13:35

I had foils done on Wednesday, I already had a home colour on, it now looks like I've got 2 colours through my hair and they are really close to my roots.

MargotLovedTom · 28/03/2015 14:04

Ah! The photo of your hair wasn't there when I was reading the thread earlier! Sorry.

MissYamabuki · 28/03/2015 14:12

Not good enough. Something similar happened to me years ago - the hairdresser was very apologetic and redid the "roots" straightaway at no extra cost. That's what they should have done for you.

PiratePanda · 28/03/2015 14:14

What are you hoping to achieve with the email? Unless you want her to fix it/a discount/a freebie, just cancel the appointment and never go back.

RL20 · 28/03/2015 14:17

I'd say don't bother with an email. Don't waste your time on her. I feel as though your feeling guilty for no longer wanting to be her client. She doesn't deserve your niceness so scrap the idea of an email and move on. Even if you do see her around, what can be said? If she happens to notice you've had your hair done elsewhere and comments on it, just say yes you did. Don't get sucked into a conversation with her

twirlypoo · 28/03/2015 14:29

Hmmm, maybe you are both right - saying she has been unprofessional won't achieve anything except bad feeling. I don't think she would give a refund or apologise so I not going to gain anything. Thanks for making me stop and think before I composed anything!

Twirly I'm near you, dont know if you can get to Hexham but there is an awesome salon with an awesome lovely stylist who would fix that for you easily I am sure. And he's a right giggle too. When you brush through your hair and get a different parting is it as noticeable?

twirlypoo · 28/03/2015 14:41

Ooh pinkrocker, that would be fab - we are actually half way between Hexham and Newcastle so are there quite a lot. Please could I have his info? Is he mega expensive? Thank you!

OP posts:
twirlypoo · 28/03/2015 14:42

Oh, and brushing through seems better, but a pony tail is ridiculous as they seem worse on the side / under bits. I just feel a bit self conscious about it to be honest. Luckily it's hat weather Grin

OP posts:
CarpetDiem · 28/03/2015 14:53

Do not go back to her.

SuperFlyHigh · 28/03/2015 15:08

If I were you OP I'd actually ask for a refund or a partial one as say you would like to get it fixed but after her outburst (say this to the manager or her colleague) you don't feel comfortable about getting it redone by her and are going somewhere else.

Hopefully you could at least get a partial refund. And to be honest I'd really rub it in about the rudeness and also that you know them, small town etc so it's awkward for you to complain but you don't want bad feeling.

Woodenheart · 28/03/2015 16:30

Don't email, go to the new bloke, get a fab hair do - walk back into old salon and ask if you left your umbrella there whilst swishing your new hair around Grin

pinkrocker · 30/03/2015 16:09

I'll inbox you :)
