and are you at work/ at home

OP posts:
ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 30/10/2006 11:56

Right I'm 25, so awaiting my kicking from Cappuccino (don't kick me, wholeheartedly agreed with your comments- and anger- on the marriage thread)

At work, no make-up. Never do. But I am a librarian, so I sort of fade into the background in a very grey way anyway. You couldn't see any make-up behind my thick horn-rimmed specs...

hulababy · 30/10/2006 11:56

I am at home and have a day of housework ahead - no make up.

Will put a bit of make up on later (some face base, a brush of natural tan type blusher, and some lip gloss) before I go to te shop and collect DD from school.

ilovecaboose · 30/10/2006 11:56

usually I don't wear any even for going out (am 24) but look so rough today have put on Boots no7 touche eclat rip off stuff, powder and eyeliner. Now look a bit more alive

CountessDracula · 30/10/2006 11:57

At work
Mascara and lip gloss

ledodgywizardrobespierre · 30/10/2006 11:57

At home have anti-ageing moisturiser on but no make up.

hotandbothered · 30/10/2006 11:57

Me too Shinyhappy... Have you found anything to really hide what's underneath? And can you make it stay there?!

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 30/10/2006 11:58

ShowofHands, but surely you need the full make up on for the moment when you remove the hornrimmed specs, shake back your luxurious sheet of glossy locks, and your colleagues gasp and say "Why ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands, you are beautiful!" (Or perhaps you are SO beuatiful you don't need it.. )

prettymummified · 30/10/2006 11:59

at home with no make up on yet!

ginmummy · 30/10/2006 11:59

You know how now we're all grown up we're not supposed to get spots and that if we do we're supposed to leave them alone to go away on their own accord? Well I do still get spots and I don't leave them alone! How can you leave a massive whitehead alone when you know it's all people are going to focus on when you face them?!

That's when touche eclat comes in handy, for stippling over blemishes that have been 'challenged' and hiding dark circles under eyes. It's pricey (£20-ish in Debenhams but £14 in Bodycare), and the brush smells a bit like wet dog when it's been used a few times (and no amount of washing with soap ever removes the smell), but I find it lasts a long time (6 months +) and I swear by it.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 30/10/2006 12:00

At work. Clinique Pore perfect instant minimiser, concealer, did have some Clinique lipgloss on, but have eaten it all.

schneebly · 30/10/2006 12:00

none at all - I wear make-up about 10 times in a year

hotandbothered · 30/10/2006 12:01

Will go and track down some touche eclat forthwith! Think Ginmummy you sound like you have this cover up stuff sussed and are worth listening too

frumpygrumpy · 30/10/2006 12:05

SSSandy thank you for asking [watery smile]. I seemed to fall over into a black hole today that I didn't see coming. Will try to find my way out again and will definitely have some make up on when I do.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 30/10/2006 12:05

Hotandbothered, over the past year I have been working my way through all the foundations within my price range (which is really under a tenner.. I cannot justify spending more than that even secretly! )

I am currently using Matt Lovely by Bourjois which was £5 something but you only get 20ml which is smaller than average. I am quite liking it.

I used to think Maybelline Wonderfinish was fab.. but suddenly it stopped working so well (don't know whether they changed the ingredients or my crap skin got more crap!). That's £6.99 I think.

Last one I used was Maybelline EverFresh.. which is complete rubbish, it does NOT look ever fresh.. it is GONE within a couple of hours!

I was impressed by the description of Revlon Colorstay and think it's quite expensive but I got it on Ebay (new obv!) so not sure.. but find you have to apply it really really carefully or you end up with clumpy bits and orangey patches.. which you only notice when you are out and it's too late! Ugh!!

What are you using? There's a much discussed-by-Mners one that I would love to try.. can't think of the name of it now.. but have never been able to afford it. Apparently it has fab coverage and makes you look radiant!! (I need it badly!)

SpookySpoon · 30/10/2006 12:05

I'm at home today, wearing:
Olay Multi-Radiance moisturiser which makes my skin look all glowy
Bit of concealer here and there (good old Rimmel)
Carmex lipbalm

I could do with some Touch Eclat under my eyes but I've run out...

When I go out later I will put on some mascara just before - don't usually do it first thing because I'll probably end up with panda eyes.

MrsBadger · 30/10/2006 12:06

Benefit Lemon Aid
Benefit Boing concealer
and very expensive Jo Malone lip balm that was a present from my mum - nearly lost it to Security on the last flight I took but luckily had a female security officer who was seduced by the smell and let me keep it.

bakedpotatooooowoooh · 30/10/2006 12:07

working from home
Revlon face illuminator (sheer/dewy foundation thingy)
Benetint
Mascara

lulumama · 30/10/2006 12:07

at home.....no make up for the first time in ages.........DH at home today.. if i am barefaced...i can make him go and do errands as i don;t go out au naturel!!!

MrsBadger · 30/10/2006 12:07

oh and am at work, but like ShowOfHands I'm a mousy academic with specs and cardigan.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 30/10/2006 12:08

shinyhappypurpleseveredheads - that'll be the Chanel Vitalumiere - it is lovely, but does seem to have given some people spots (me included). I now keep it for special occasions only. Have just bought the Boots No 7 mousse foundation that adjusts to your skin tone - seems good so far.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 30/10/2006 12:09

Oh I clearly NEED touche eclat too!! But it's f-ing dear even on Ebay it seems!!

I so envy you people who 'only wear make up twice a millenia'.. I really do. I like wearing makeup in that I like to make the best of my features and am quite clever with my eye make up etc.. but I hate that I HAVE to wear it, and am so reliant of full foundation (cover up, foundation AND powder) and still manage to look spotty and crap... And I'm 34. Sigh.

I'm glad there are other spot pickers/squeezers. My friend-of-the-near-perfect-complexion thinks I am disgusting.

Naughtynoonoo · 30/10/2006 12:11

At home

Lancome Powder
M&S Blush
Estee Lauder Mascara
FC Pencil
Eye Shawdow - from boots can't remember what make
Freebie lippie in this months essentials
tbh don't feel I look any better than I do without the slap - but it makes me feel dressed iynwim.

hotandbothered · 30/10/2006 12:11

Thanks Shinyhappy... Just going to check make up before picking up dd from nursery! will be back later for more tips...

NOMurDErousPLUME · 30/10/2006 12:12

ShinyHappy - The much talked about foundation is by Chanel. I lost mine , having used it about 5 times and went out and bought the Maybelline matte mousse one instead (about 1/4 of the price) and it is brilliant. Very light but still gives good coverage, ime.
