Wanted: long lasting, medium/full coverage foundation with dewy finish?

Does one exist? I'm still on my HG quest. Double wear light does it for me during the winter although I am now a bit flat in it and looking for something more radiant for spring/ summer. I was thinking of trying the radiant primers but then figure that the double wear light is only doing its job by being matt on top and then cancelling out any glow?! Maybe?!
I have normal but sometimes sensitive skin if that's any help?

I am loving both of the YSL foundations at the moment, (the touche eclat one and the fusion ink) although for longevity I prefer the latter. They do shades for neutral, cool and yellow undertones too which is a smart move as some brands (looking at you, Clinique) seem to think we are all strangely pink of face.

They're spendy, though, so go to a counter and get colour matched and they will give you a very generous sample of both foundations (mine have both lasted a week).

Having said that these past few days I have been reaching more and more for the new Nars foundation - the luminous all day one - which was a gift from a friend. Finish and longevity are amazing, at least on my slightly combo skin although I'd have to say that it's not terribly luminous, more of a satin. Again, I'd advise going to a counter to get matched as the shades are deceptive online. I thought I would be Santa Fe, but turns out I am one of the lighter ones. And the colours are not the same as those in the Sheer Glow version either (another of their foundies you might want to try) even though the names are the same. Loads of reviews and demos online for each of these so might be worth heading over to YouTube or MakeUpAlley for a browse...

Clarins Extra Comfort sounds exactly what you're looking for.

I found the same thing with the DWL. Its great stuff, but can make you look a bit like Data from Star Trek: Next Generation. I used to wear my glowiest sparkliest blushers with it, which made me look a bit more human.

yazzy85 · 19/03/2015 00:41

Diorskin nude and diorskin star are both worth checking out for a natural glowy finish

MsVanRein · 19/03/2015 08:52

Wagon Clinique foundations are all categorised into Golden, Neutrals and Pinks too.

These are great! Thanks! Now I just need to work out when I can get to a counter without two dc in tow! I hope I can get some good samples to try them before buying. I don't mind investing of they're the right thing fore but would hate to spend and then find that I just can't do them the way they look when 'properly' done on the counter. Are they ok with giving samples without a proper makeover and just after a colour match? That might make it more doable with the kids!

I recently got sample pots from Dior and Clinique, just asked them for a foundation match and they offerer samples to try out. Really helps to see how the foundation wears on your skin and the colour under different lighting.

Great! I need to plan a trip to our nearest dept store as soon as possible! I could do with a little lift!

I've been using No 7 Lift and Luminate and I'm getting the dewy effect with decent coverage (I have pretty awful skin). I'm onto my second bottle and it's the first time I've ever finished a bottle of foundation without moving onto something else!

RebelRobin · 19/03/2015 18:18

Make sûre your skin is well moisturised. Waitrose pure oil then good momoisturiser then E L doublewear

Howaboutthisone · 19/03/2015 22:18

That's interesting lesquigh- hadn't thought of trying them.

Rebel- I don't really have dry skin but will try that. I'm just thinking that it goes against the aim of the double wear really to have a glow as it does seem to be more matt coverage.

Urban Decay Naked sounds exactly what you are looking for. It's light, fresh but a lovely coverage.

AWholeLottaNosy · 19/03/2015 22:56

I put Origins Vitazing under my foundation ( as recommended by another MNetter). Does give a dewy glow tho is a bit pricy! (£28).

AWholeLottaNosy · 19/03/2015 22:58

Also like Bourgeois serum foundation for dewyness ( is that even a word?)

AWholeLottaNosy · 19/03/2015 23:05

Lol at Data from Star Trek!

improbablesaint · 19/03/2015 23:08

Chanel vita

Fabulassie · 20/03/2015 07:26

For longevity, do the Wayne Goss trick of putting loose powder on under the foundation. Moisturiser - powder - foundation.

Howaboutthisone · 20/03/2015 08:40

Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

I hadn't heard of the powder trick- does it make foundation harder to apply?

I don't mind if it is a bit spendy if it does what I'm after.

And dewyness should be a word if its not!Grin

Agree with powder trick I do that and def notice my non long lasting foundation which is a better shade match for me lasts longer.. It can be any cheapy loose powder.. My fave long lasting foundation is Dior forever. I have very oily skin and normal foundations don't last longer than couple hrs on me.

Another I tried was clarins everlasting which was lovely and really natural need to get another decent sample of it to try it out for a week but that may become my everyday foundation

RavioliOnToast · 20/03/2015 09:19

vichy dermablend. amazing.

Absolute full coverage, Google 'zombie boy' and you'll see what I mean :)

lovely dewy finish. I personally hoy a load of loose powder on top to mattify it though

Fabulassie · 20/03/2015 15:33

The powder trick is just awesome. Of all of Goss's tricks, it is the absolute best and I now do it every day. It doesn't make makeup any harder to apply. You put on some moisturiser and then brush on some loose powder (I use a cheap drugstore brand.) Then I put on my foundation. It will last all day. You can't see any difference, really.

improbablesaint · 20/03/2015 18:40

Who is goss?

improbablesaint · 20/03/2015 18:40

Apart from a make up artist

AdorabeezleWinterpop · 20/03/2015 19:10

I use No 7 Lift and Luminate too. Love it.

SorrelForbes · 20/03/2015 19:38

Another fan of No.7 Lift and Luminate. I have been hunting around lately for a more high end version but have failed to get a decent colour match. No.7 Cool Ivory matches exactly and gives a lovely finish.

Lemondrizzletwunt · 20/03/2015 19:42

Does anyone have any idea if this would work for me? I have horrendous skin and it's quite oily and Chanel's vitalumiere aqua just doesn't cut it...it's kind of sliding off and powder doesn't help...sorry to hijack!
