At last! I get to use my thread title.

Over here, my hags.

I think it is quite odd interesting, given that I don't know anyone who sings in real life, how many singers we have amongst the crepeys. Also a lot of writers!

That sounds like a good plan Rudy - fingers crossed she does want to meet him!

Blackduck · 29/03/2015 13:03

Good plan Rudy!

Crepeys can anyone recommend a good sushi/bento place in central London that doesn't cost a forune and isn't Yo Sushi?

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2015 14:24

MrsS will know somewhere, I'm sure, BD!

DD has gone through her clothes and after binning the worst, there are a couple of carrier bags worth. Very mixed content - not sure anyone would want it, but I will bring it to the next MU!

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2015 14:44

Yoshino, Piccadilly Place, just off Piccadilly, BD. You can go a la carte or have a plate of sushi for either £9 or £20, or have miso soup, sushi and wagyu beef for £25. Lovely restaurant, great service and we were the only two in there who weren't Japanese yesterday.

Nagoya in Maylebone is also really good.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2015 14:55

Sorry, battery died on laptop. Nagoya is in George Street - they do a set bento menu at lunch, plus a la carte (but not open on a Saturday). The grilled aubergine is a thing of wonder, and worth ordering separately.

QueenQueenie · 29/03/2015 16:13

I really like Sakura - here - but then I quite like playing Russian roulette with the waiting staff - about i in 4 of them are shockingly rude, the rest charming... the food is fab.

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2015 16:15

Mmmm, think I may take a trip into town with DD as a treat next week...

I would like to sing, but have no idea if I can do it in any tuneful way without lessons. I already do the writing. I am dodgy on the cooking, although there is another Nigella clementine cake on the go atm, for a friend who is visiting tomorrow. I've chickened out of substituting carrots or beetroot for sugar in her cake; she wouldn't hesitate to tell me if it tasted foul. Wink

MI, I despair of your dad. Sad

Rudy, I second BTM's advice.

Blackduck · 29/03/2015 17:15

Thanks all! BTM I'd suggest a meet but not sure how your DD would take my 11 year old ds!!!

beachyhead · 29/03/2015 17:48

We are on our way Smile God, the organising!

Herbs, sorry to hear about mil... Hope she gets out soon.

Ds had a great leaving party, with lots of friends round for bowling and pizza. They were so nice, they clubbed together and bought him a PS3.....

I'll hopefully speak from the other side!

Blackduck · 29/03/2015 17:48

Wow Beachy what an amazing present!

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2015 17:59

Beachy that all sounds fantasticSmile

herbaceous · 29/03/2015 19:49

Say hello to the orange men, Beachy.

Had my parents and mad brother round for lunch. Wine had to be consumed to get me through it. Mum on good form, but dad getting more and more senile. Every time he needed the loo, which was about every 30 minutes, he had to ask where it was, and every time he returned with wet trousers, and the bathroom floor was soaking. So undignified. My mum is not the most patient of people, and is getting really fed up of it all.

Always feel sad after my parents go, and it was worse today. Realised I'll never really see my dad again, and how much I identify with mum, and how bereft I'll be when she goes.

Right. Enough. On the plus side, my gravy was a triumph.

bigTillyMint · 29/03/2015 19:56

Glad to hear your gravy was a triumph Herbs! Sympathies re the aged parents - I am feeling quite peturbed about going up to DMs tomorrow but at least I will know the worst I guess.

motherinferior · 29/03/2015 20:15

HerbsHmm

One of the oldest members of our choir - lovely woman - had friends at the concert, one of whom introduced himself to me and shook my hand. I was unperturbed (I've always been a hit with posh older gents of that type) and she explained quietly after he'd gone that he is starting to lose his memory...

CointreauVersial · 29/03/2015 20:20

I had a slightly "challenging" lunch with my parents too, although not associated with any loss of marbles (sympathies, Herbs Sad). DSDad hit the wine rather too hard, started repeating himself and trotting out his repertoire of stories that can be repeated word-for-word, you know the ones. There was lots of gentle ribbing and sniggering from DB, DM and me, at which point DSDad suddenly took offence and stomped out of the room. From behind his study door we heard the sound of the shredder going; opinions varied as to whether it was his Marriage Certificate or his Will getting the chop, which of course sent us all into another fit of giggles. He came back into the room and shouted at us all for a bit, then DM started to get tearful, saying he had "ruined" lunch, which of course he hadn't.... all was smoothed out by the time we left, thank goodness, with hugs all round.... just another pointlessly stressy family get together for DB and I to bond over.

herbaceous · 29/03/2015 20:53

MI my sweet. You seem to be suffering emoticon confusion. I think. The past two occasions when I think you must have meant Sad, or similar, you've put a Hmm.

Man from upstairs has tapped at our door three (III, 3) times today. I refuse to answer now, and just send DH to deal with him. I am going to try and hijack his lovely carer this week as Lambeff Social Services will only speak to relatives or carers (or the person concerned) and not to anyone else.

motherinferior · 29/03/2015 23:03

Sodding phone. I am vvv embarrassed.

herbaceous · 29/03/2015 23:29

Don't be! I can't see the emoticons properly until I get on a computer. The phone ones are a bit rubbish.

Right. Off to bed. DP is staying overnight at his mum's house, so I've got the whole bed. Mmmmm. And time to read H is for Hawk with no moaning along the lines of 'isn't it time you turned the light out?'

OP posts:
MollyAir · 29/03/2015 23:31

Haha, MI, don't dare do the humphy wee face at me, or I'll be most offended. Grin

So sorry to hear about everyone's parents in decline. Ours are all dead. I do like the sound of CV's DStepDad shredding his will in passive-aggressive fashion.

MollyAir · 29/03/2015 23:34

H is for Hawk is a great read. Enjoy.
