At last! I get to use my thread title.

Over here, my hags.

We had a really good view of the eclipse and then the clouds arrived. However before the clouds the temperature had dropped dramatically and all my birds have disappeared from the feeders.

Herbs, Alan Johnson???

beachyhead · 20/03/2015 09:47

I remember standing outside Liverpool Street station with my special specs on....Nothing here, just a gloomy dull day, but it is suddenly cold. Watching it on the BBC.

beachyhead · 20/03/2015 09:50

man of Herb's dreams Grin

herbaceous · 20/03/2015 10:01

He was a bit more dashing in my dream.

I also dreamt I was having a chaste yet meaningful affair with our choir conductor.

And in another dream that I was on the beach, when there was a massive tsunami, and I couldn't find DS or any of my friends. That wasn't so nice.

motherinferior · 20/03/2015 10:19

That was a non-starter as eclipses go.

Last one, I was rather miserable and about to embark on a really messy affair with a bloke who dumped me by long-distance phone call on Christmas Eve to go back to his Soulmate. I took up with Mr Inferior two days later, in revenge Grin.

Ladyjog. 500 words (no lesbertarian action but an extra husband). Must edit stuff for CDiff.

herbaceous · 20/03/2015 10:23

Damp squib o'rama. Just got slightly gloomier. I'm sure the last one got much darker. I was working in Docklands at the time, in a job that with hindsight was really ace. We all went outside and looked through special glasses while drinking tea.

DS is caught in a love triangle. His new friend C (who has been to play) doesn't get on with another boy J, with whom DS has just struck up a friendship. Said friend C was all sad apparently that he couldn't play with DS, because he was playing with J. And so the cliques begin....

Still undecided about trainers - black yet groovy, vs luminous red.

Stropperella · 20/03/2015 10:31

Got a good view here, although just when it was going to peak the clouds disappeared completely so couldn't see the full glory as didn't have any special viewing equipment.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/03/2015 10:40

We were in Romania at the time of the last eclipse. We sat on the front doorstep, with our elderly neighbour (who is still alive - I saw her when I went back last summer) and our lovely nanny. I have photos of me with a fat baby on my lap. I remember the light being very strange, a sort of silvery grey, and then it went dark and very cold for a few minutes.

I am wfh today, and need to do some tidying in my lunch hour.

motherinferior · 20/03/2015 11:03

Herbs, both?

I have indulged in a spot of Woolovers.

herbaceous · 20/03/2015 11:06

I'd love both, but a) I have no money, and b) DP was go ballistic at even more shoes.

hattymattie · 20/03/2015 12:38

Well - eclipse was cold and grey instead of warm and grey. I do feel we should have had scary wind blowing or at least something of significance.

Have had nice pub lunch with friend and now the ironing awaits.

herbaceous · 20/03/2015 12:42

Blasted sunny here now. Never mind, only 65 years until the next one.

OP posts:
hattymattie · 20/03/2015 12:42

Had to come back to say my DSis in Devon saw it and has put up the most amazing photo.

bigTillyMint · 20/03/2015 12:51

MI, what have you bought?

Yes Herbs!

DS seems to have perked up a bit and is accepting (to me at least) that he needs to buck up on his behaviour again. Little does he know what punishments we have in wait if he doesn't manage itWink

motherinferior · 20/03/2015 13:10

I bought a black version of the one I linked to upthread, fitted over the bosoms (quite important in my case, given the amount of bosom over which it has to fit) and then a grey slouchy stripy number, same sort of cut as the moss stitch ones - they're lovely but now too warm, will be essentials next winter!; both in the cashmere/merino blend.

hattymattie · 20/03/2015 13:37

We now have sunshine - 3 hours too late[an.

hattymattie · 20/03/2015 13:38

Apparently the next one is 2029 - may yet get another chance!

CointreauVersial · 20/03/2015 16:35

Angry I can't believe the sun is cracking the stones after such a gloomy morning. The only signs of the eclipse in Surrey was that it got even more gloomy. I cheered myself up by watching the loons in the office opposite, who all congregated in the car park wearing masks and crazy hats, only to troop miserably back to their desks unfulfilled.

I can't remember much about the last eclipse, except that I was heavily pregnant and working in Crawley. I've a feeling it was cloudy for that one too.

The last eclipse, a lot of my family did a trip to France to view it...not us...DS2 was a baby. DH and I were at the mall...we wandered out to enjoy it in a weeny little park next to the mall with DS in a buggy. That's all I remember....oh and the eerie silence for those moments, yes. This time I was with teaching colleagues at our monthly meeting. We sat by the window and it did get somewhat gloomy over the M25 but that's all.

Rudy good on you with the cycling. 24 miles is a lot!

stropps couldn't help a snigger at your former MIL and her piss pot. I guess it was her version of an ensuite Grin

DH is off to the Rugby today. We are plodding through homework....DDs math tutor, DSs piano lesson....and then me and the DC are going to see a dance production ( I shared it on Facebook if anyone's interested. It's particularly good for teens....) at the theatre locally. Between now and then, I seem to have a mountain of housework and washing to get through Hmm

hattymattie · 21/03/2015 13:33

Very quiet here today. Having a similarly quiet afternoon here except for a little to do with DD2 who basically comes and goes as she pleases and stays in her room the rest of the time. I pointed out she used the house as a hotel and never spoke to any of us, helped or generally participated in family life. She said I was
like Stalin and if we didn't like her we could get her a student room for her last year at school. Sometimes I am sorely tempted.Hmm

herbaceous · 21/03/2015 14:24

It's v quiet, isn't it. This day is crawling past. In a while we're off to see our friends in Tunbridge Wells, who are having a party. We're staying overnight, and DS will be bunking up with three other small boys. We'll see how this goes!

Mild wardrobe crisis - tempted to wear my totally charity shop outfit I wore to the last meet up!

I am currently compiling a quiz about London Transport (a pet subject of mine) for my low-level literacy group. Bit tricky making the questions simple enough to read, yet interesting!

lalsy · 21/03/2015 14:37

Quiet crawling day here too. ds in a grump. I wish someone else would suggest something fun to do sometimes.....

motherinferior · 21/03/2015 14:47

I ought to go out but am knackered. So am writing instead.

Blackduck · 21/03/2015 14:54

I have done the laundry, cleaned the bath, walked over the hill with Ds and bought some boots in the Clarkes sale and some other bits (always thought living in the sticks would save me money - it doesn't) sun is shining and aside from travelling companion meltdown weighing on my mind (I am dreading Monday) I feel :) about to do the hoovering which will doubtless make me feel :(
