I bought women's shoes!

And I'm quite pleased with them - one pair of Think Mary Jane's (here ), and one pair of Think green suede ones that I can't find anywhere, that were a bit more interesting.

Is this the first time ?

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 12:55

Um, the first time in quite a few years. I bought some just over two years ago, while pregnant with DS2.

I wear size 9, and I walk a lot, so women's shoes don't make much sense to me.

think mary jane

not the most feminine shoes i've ever seen

expatinscotland · 25/10/2006 12:55

Hmmm. I walk a LOT.

But men's shoes. Erm. No. Not for me.

But good on ya!

Well, I think even slightly feminine shoes are feminine enough for me. I'm not about to start wearing heels fgs.

oh well done. bet they look really nice with skirts too.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 12:58

These were from the Natural Shoe Shop - they brought me a selection of shoes in size 9. Aldo's seem to see size 9 as normal, too.

DH's family swear by Long Tall Sally or some such? And I think Magnus does big women's shoes, although I don't rate their style.

The other ones are much nicer, I think, a bit swirly and interesting, and green and suede. But the Mary Janes would go with anything, which is a big selling point.

"I'm not about to start wearing heels fgs"

well no god forbid

I think the ones in the link are very nice indeed. Ds looked at them and said "I like those, can we get them for me?"

alexsCURSEDMUMMY · 25/10/2006 13:10

i'm a size nine and i find next quite good. have had some pretty ones from there. and i have some cool black chelsea boots( very practical) from m&s -they were a big size 8.
but yes in general it's hard. but i don't go down the mens shoes route.

BATtymumma · 25/10/2006 13:14

i sooo feel for you NQC.

i am a size 9-10 shoes and hardly ever wore girly shoes. i would wear trainers most of the time, flip flops in summer and then invest in a [air of boots for when i had to be 'smart' in winter.

i have got a few more pairs of shoes now though as i have found EVANS. they go right up to a size 11 and they have wider fittings if you need them. also unlike most other shoes shops that cater for larger feet they really dont charge more than a normal pair of shoes. i just bought a pair of boots for £40!

Next go to a size 9 but i think they are a very small 9.

Ah, see, but I have some v nice men's shoes. If you look around, they can be found - I did a link to some from Aldo the other day, as hoxtonchick didn't believe they were men's shoes.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 13:22

Ah, here is the other pair. The green is less yellowy than it looks on that site, though.

FrannyandZooey · 25/10/2006 13:23

Very nice, very you

Ds says "I want some of those too"

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 13:24

I now realise they are a bit matchy with that green jacket . I am so predictable, if I had unlimited wardrobe choice, I would always be in green, purple and swirliness.

The shop were quite nice about us pitching up, granted we were there at 10:30 this morning, but it was me, two boys, no pushchair, hands full of hot cross buns. But the staff seemed to understand "bring me what you've got in my size, quick, I want to buy and run away"!

(I'm used to on-commission Canadian salespeople who are good at helping speed-shoppers ...)

I'm a size 10 and use Medissa Shoes if that's any help.

geekgrrl · 25/10/2006 13:27

I like the green ones, NQC. Very funky.

FrannyandZooey · 25/10/2006 13:30

I wasn't going to say anything about the jacket

I love that colour but would never, ever wear it myself. It looks fab on you.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 13:30

You're safer sticking with the pale grey, right?

Seriously, I think you'd look fine in green. Do you really just stick to black?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 25/10/2006 13:40

Ah

well

I mean

yes

NO actually I sometimes wear plum, erm, purple, brown, teal

I do buy coloured clothes but I don't often wear them. Hey that was a brown dress I had on when we went out!

NotQuiteCockney · 25/10/2006 14:21

I did used to wear a lot of black, but have been shopping a lot more randomly since having kids.
