Did I dream it, or is there such a thing as lip stain?

I may well have dreamed it, but is there a product that is somewhere between a lipsil and a lipstick? I want something that has moisture, but not gloss, and that holds a decent colour.

Does it exist or should I get down Dragons Den?

I use a Mac one which has colour one end and gloss at the other. Never use the gloss, colour lasts all day. Think it's pro...something.

violetbunny · 26/02/2015 05:26

Stila does a lovely range of lip and cheek stains

CuttedUpPear · 26/02/2015 06:16

The Revlon one sounds interesting.

Carmex do a tinted balm, which is great. It doesn't moisturise as long as their plain lip balm but is good for colour.

The Benetint stain dries your lips like a sandstorm in the summer. Also if you have any small lines running out from your lips (like I do) the tint will bleed into those straightaway and highlight them nicely Hmm Sad

Silverjohnleggedit · 26/02/2015 07:20

I love the Maybelline lip stain, it's really does hang around all day but the bugger keep changing their shades and now I'm on the look out for another brand - will check out Mac.

Mixtape · 26/02/2015 08:12

Benefit also do the Chachatint, which is a peachy lip and cheek stain - I prefer it to benefiting and it doesn't seem as drying, but then I don't use it every day.

wigfieldrocks · 26/02/2015 09:15

Body shop do a lip stain but it is quite drying.

wigfieldrocks · 26/02/2015 09:16

And Revlon do a version of chubby stick which are great quality and half the price with some great colours.

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 26/02/2015 09:25

I think I'll have a look at the Revlon one. I do really want a lip tint, but don't want anything drying or that bleeds like the one cuttedUp mentioned.

Does it look ok if you use the stain then vaseline over the top?

I've tried the Clinique and Benefit lip tints but honestly prefer Colour Pout which you can get from Boots at about a fiver.

No it won't moisturise your lips, but at least the colour stays on me, which is more than I can say for lipstick. I moisture my lips at other times, but when I want colour on my lips it's Colour Pout now.

ChouetteMouette · 26/02/2015 10:32

I had the Bloom lip stain for a while - good colour and lasted for ages. Quite drying though!

Lambzig · 26/02/2015 10:44

This Elizabeth Arden one is lovely. Subtle colours and obviously very moisturising, but quite matte and not gloopy at all.

sheer lip tint

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 26/02/2015 11:33

Thank you all Thanks

Gosh, some of them are quite expensive aren't they?

Lambzig does the Arden one last for a long time? As in get your moneys worth from the stick?

I love Benetint but it is drying. For cheapness try Rimmel chubby stick lipsticks (look like crayons). I've got a few and they stain your lips, not sure if they're meant to.

cedricsneer · 26/02/2015 12:16

I haven't used the clinique chubby stocks but they look quite glossy. The good thing about the Revlon ones is that you can get matte and gloss. The matte is thick and velvety and lovely.

SandorClegane · 26/02/2015 12:20

I have the revlon matte balm but I don't find it particularly moisturising, I usually use it with a smear of carmex underneath

Lambzig · 26/02/2015 12:21

Definitely, Lasts ages like a lipstick, you only need to smooth it around lips once to get a good colour.

NotLoveActually · 26/02/2015 12:21

Soap and glory do a gorgeous lip & cheek tint and it lasts for AGES but I'm lost as to the name of it at the moment Smile

Carpaccio · 26/02/2015 12:34

Depending on what finish you like, you could just use a lip balm (matte like Nuxe Reve de Miel in the pot) or a shiny one and then pat a bit on lipstick of your choice on top. Naturally, it's not as easy to reapply as a single product, but it doesn't bother me massively.

There are quite a lot of the balm like lipsticks on the market which give a hint of colour, but are still sheer and quite moisturising. A lot of them are not shiny like a gloss but more like a normal lip balm. I like Clinique Chubby Sticks and don't find them particularly glossy.
Dior Rouge Dior Baume is also very nice and balm like.
Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm is very nice too but a bit more shiny.

mixedpeel · 26/02/2015 13:49

I've got a Rimmel 1000 kisses thing, which is lip tint in a felt tip at one end, then a lip balm at the other. It's just run out and I hope they still do it, because it's fab. Because you are basically colouring in your lips with the pen end, you don't get the dreaded bleed out that cutted up pear mentioned.

I had it in Carry on Cherry, and it gives you the appearance of naturally red lips, and does last well. And the lip balm is nice and creamy.

missmartha · 26/02/2015 13:58

Yes I like that one as well as Colour Pout. No, it doesn't make your lips moist but it gives them colour with the fab felt pen, they both have felt pens and they work.

No bleeding and the lips keep their colour for hours. It's the only way I can keep colour on my lips now and I think these are better than the more expensive ones. I haven't got dry peeling lips, but I do use and love these.

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 26/02/2015 19:44

No bleed mix? That sounds ace!

Thanks again for all the advice, I'm glad I didn't just dream up lip tint Grin

miss, which on are you talking about? Rimmel?

MummyAnnabella · 26/02/2015 20:00

Benefit lollipop stain on lips - is drying but pop lolli balm on top and is moisturising

bluewisteria · 26/02/2015 20:57

I've been looking for the holy grail tint for years... love Benetint colour, but the description of it being as drying as a sandstorm is bang on the money.

Has anyone tried the YSL range?? I remember reading some great reviews, but I haven't tried them yet.

YSL

Huh, the link was to an American site.

Let's try again
