Well someone had to do it as my last post was number 999...

OP posts:
Rosebag · 17/02/2015 11:20

Sorry no time to check auto correct bloopers...

motherinferior · 17/02/2015 11:43

Guess what DD2's diagnosis was Grin

CointreauVersial · 17/02/2015 13:46

LOL at Sticky Out Rib. Grin She should compare notes with DS, who always has a Weird Bone In His Foot, or an Odd Looking Tonsil to preoccupy him.

Sorry, Strops, forgot about the PR thing. Some step-parents are more heavily involved than others, I realise.

Well, dentist (DD1) and barber (DS) visited, pancakes cooked and consumed (all), and the girls and I are off to Crawley shortly. I have booked a local pasta chain resto for this evening, when I expect to be lavished with all the piles of beautifully wrapped gifts and thoughtfully written cards that I haven't had yet. Hmm

Blackduck · 17/02/2015 14:40

I had a sticky out rib when I was younger (and a whole lot thinner...) so no mocking!

CV I am sure they are waiting to surprise you! (or maybe not ;) )

Here ds has dragged his nana off to Yo Sushi (poor woman - she won't know what's hit her)

motherinferior · 17/02/2015 15:04

DP is now asking why I didn't ask the GP about the Lump On Her Head. FFS, she's a perfectly normal 11 year old, with a few physical asymmetries, as lovely GP pointed out...

God it's hard working with kids in the house even when they're getting on with their own stuff. Am urging DD2 to go out and get art materials. DD1 out being thespienne, armed with shopping list of things to get for tomorrow's supper.

Rosebag · 17/02/2015 16:17

We are none of us symmetrical, says she of extreme lop sidedness Grin

CV I do hope they lavish gifts and and loveliness on you this evening. I have stopped Being Understanding about failure in that department....

Back from a bracing long walk in the sunshine (bit parky in the shade, mind) and a most pleasing pub lunch, during which I restrained myself admirably with a Greek Salad and no dressing...giving half the feta away.
polishes halo The others however variously had ploughman's, fish and chips and pies followed by choc fudge cake and Icecream Hmm Envy

Pancakes and a night in for later on. Smile

beachyhead · 17/02/2015 16:29

Happy birthday CV. Pancakes and pasta, check you out! ThanksThanks

motherinferior · 17/02/2015 16:39

Wow, Rose, that is seriously restrained. Respect.

MollyAir · 17/02/2015 16:59

Happy Birthday, CV. Hope you have a lovely evening. Thanks

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/02/2015 17:02

Stropps, nothing to add to what others have said, but would underline what MI has said about your DH: he is being an arse.

Happy Birthday CV!

Rosebag · 17/02/2015 20:21

stropps I have PM'd you.

bigTillyMint · 17/02/2015 21:58

CV many happy returns - hope it was a good one.

Well done Stropps, sounds like you are doing the right thing with DD. Blended families are a difficult thing. And you are piggy in the middle.

cremolafoam · 17/02/2015 22:04

Just back from cinema with whole family, for Dads birthday , followed by some beautifully tossed crêpes Grin thanks to dneph and dnieces. 'Twas great to see Papa looking great after a restorative week on the Cote D'Azur. Looking slimmer, leaner, relaxed and full of fun. Dsis and I are in awe. His GP sent him a birthday card, bless her.
I got the results of my bloods and , yes, I am indeed sluggish of thyroid , enough this time, for dr to prescribe levothyroxine. I know I've been going on about my stiff hands, turns out it was carpal tunnel syndrome which is another symptom. Shock
And I've been furious at myself for feeling so lazy.Confused

Stropps all your instincts about dd are right. You are doing so very well, especially as to all intents and purposes you are single parenting. I know what that feels like; it was years after we adopted dd until dh felt able to do any form of practical parenting. grim years they were too.

MI you are doing everything you can.
lol at Sticky Out Rib. I am incredibly unsymmetrical. I have one foot a full size bigger.Grin Thank heavens for doctors with a sense of humour.

CointreauVersial · 17/02/2015 22:35

Lovely meal out, all the better because the whole family were on fine form, so there was plenty of joviality and joke-cracking. I had a few nice gifts - DH gave me some jewellery and makeup I had chosen and purchased myself (and a bottle of Cointreau), and DM gave me some gym clothes.

I am feeling fat as a pig after all the carbs, but, hell, you don't turn 48 every day. Back to the salads tomorrow.

MollyAir · 17/02/2015 22:43

Sounds lovely, CV, glad you had a good time. And glad your ddad is looking so much better, Crem, and that you have a diagnosis/diagnoses. I know exactly what you mean - we beat ourselves up and then discover that we really were ill after all. Duh. What's the Crepey mantra again about not beating ourselves up? Have forgotten it already...shows how often I'm repeating it.

lalsy · 17/02/2015 23:48

Hey Crem, glad you've got some answers. I'm quite in awe of your df too, he sounds quite something.

Molly, Smile at forgetting crepey mantra, I can't remember it either. Perhaps, in true crepey fashion, we can have those conversations again and remember it?

MollyAir · 18/02/2015 00:23

Oh, yes. Now what was I saying? What was I looking for?

Blackduck · 18/02/2015 06:58

CV sounds like a lovely evening.
I woke at four hacking so had a cup of tea and of course then slept through the alarm - cue much rushing around - so now I feel double crap....
I will do a short day, walk the hound and collapse into bed. At least I'm off for the next five days.

bigTillyMint · 18/02/2015 08:08

Glad you had a good evening CV.
Sorry you're feeling crap BD.
Cremo glad you had a lovely night for your DDad.

Another gorgeous day here beckons. I have hung up my skis though - knees hurting too much and I am therefore too terrified - am going walking with my friend instead.Smile

hattymattie · 18/02/2015 08:18

Hello - back from beautiful sunny England to freezing fog in Paris. Had a lovely stay all in all - apart from kerfuffle about seeing my friends. I eventually got out on Sunday afternoon and it was lovely to catch up.

Slightly annoyed as I saw a casual jacket in Fat Face at St Pancras on the way there which I thought I might pick up on the way back. Well - somebody only bought my jacket between Saturday and Tuesday!Angry

Stropps - Sad re DD - it's heartbreaking when you see them making bad decisions through immaturity. Can you not get a telephone call with various teachers? Mine are quite good at this.

NU - hope DH is recovering.

CV - Happy BirthdaySmileWine Wine Thanks Thanks

hattymattie · 18/02/2015 08:20

BTM - x posted. I'll be skiing next week but last year I did have a lovely day on raquets with a guide - much less hair raising than skiing!

motherinferior · 18/02/2015 09:06

The sun is out. I have had a 'lie-in' (ie didn't drag self out for Ladyjog) and have bashed a client into shape and am quite chirpy about CDiff meeting later and have nice new feature for which the interviewees are keen to talk, so I have decided to renounce Gloom for at least the next hour. Grin

Hattie, get DD1 to buy it online (assuming it's pricey to ship to France)?

Wearing my new black Woolovers jumper with black stretchy trousers (Uniqlo) in preparation for meeting. Wore the wine-red one yesterday with jeans. V fetching.

motherinferior · 18/02/2015 09:13

BD, lovely, do the minimum and then crash.

lalsy · 18/02/2015 09:20

Which style are your Woolovers jumpers MI?

BD, I hope you can get plenty of rest later.

motherinferior · 18/02/2015 10:18

The trusty moss stitch one, Lalsy. I now have three of the buggers because I like them a lot. Not too boxy, but also not too fitted.
