Anyone else never wear heels? What kind of shoes do you go for?

I don't own a single pair of heels. Cant' take the pain any more. I don't drive and walk everywhere, even on a night out I need to walk to the station so can't be doing with heels any more. I am the Queen of Comfy Shoes!

However, this queen is in need of some new shoes for Spring/Summer and am all out of inspiration. Please share your recent flat shoe/boot/sandal etc purchases!

Same here! Will watch with interest!

dotsanddashes · 02/02/2015 10:15

take a look at enbrogue.com. An entire blog dedicated to flat shoes. The current post is about pretty ugly walking boots, but keep trawling back through older posts, there's not a style she hasn't covered. She also features most price points, from New Look and Oasis, Clarks through to Grenson and other designer labels.

Clogs are supposed to be big this spring/summer. They don't look it, but I personally find them really comfy, once you get the hang of them. Lottafromstockholm.co.uk sells most styles and are a reasonable price.

I can't wear heels at all, and recently gave all my lovely heels to a charity shop. They were beautiful, but I'd had them for so long and never wore them.

I have very wide feet so really struggle to find anything more glamorous than a fit flop in summer and in winter it all gets a bit desperate really.

I have the [[http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/hannah+rochell/en+brogue3a+love+fashion-+love+shoes-+hate+heels/10973133/ En Brogue book]]

But I mostly wear Clarks funny dream

HotLipsHoulihan · 02/02/2015 10:25

No heels these days as I've married a man who's not very tall!

I wear Ugg boots in winter or Acne pistol boots. Ash trainers sometimes. Toms all summer. Ash suede wedge shoes if I need something a bit smarter

DeanKoontz · 02/02/2015 10:27

Oops, clumsy link fail.

I feel your pain - literally. My feet are too sore to wear heels which is gutting but I'm beginning to accept it.

I think it's worth throwing money at the problem. Russell & Bromley do the best flats and low heels. I am not really a fan of R&B as everything but the product feels stuck in 2001 (no internet sales, no returns during sale etc, weird store layouts and assistants). But really, they have lovely flats. Their sale is still on if you can get to a branch. I got some patent t-bar brogues for £75.

Lottapianos · 02/02/2015 10:35

Wow dots, that blog is fabulous! I definitely need some brogues for Spring

Another vote for Lotta from Stockholm clogs. I have two pairs. They are great! You can get some styles through Amazon. My DH thinks they are fugly, but I tell him to go and get some heels if he thinks they're so much funConfused.

Lottapianos · 02/02/2015 10:48

The Lotta clogs look so cute if not terribly comfy, but I'm taking your word for it that they are! May have to investigate....

Who cares about fugly (they're not, by the way) when you're in comfy shoe heaven?!

I like brogues but I struggle with how to style them.

They only seem to look nice with skirts on slim brown bare legs. Which I don't have Hmm

Do you wear socks with them, when wearing them with trousers?

Thing is, I have short hair, so am worried I'd look like a tall Sandi Toksvig. (Not that I don't like Sandi Toksvig, but my style guru she ain't).

No heels here, ever. I literally can't see why people would do that to themselves, plus I've begun to think they look sort of ridiculous when you stop to think about it.
(I used to think I had to wear heels for work and with dresses, but so glad I plucked up the courage to ditch them).

I have a pair of lovely flat Camper boots for winter. And I love Vivobarefoot shoes more than any others. I have a pair of "Jing Jing" which go perfectly with most summer work clothes. They are expensive for what they are but you can sometimes pick them up in sales on their site or elsewhere.

remembers the 90s wistfully when it was ok to go out-out in hipster trousers, crop top & thick soled flip flop/birkenstock type footwear, like the 5th member of All Saints

YoullLikeItNotaLot · 02/02/2015 11:00

I don't know why I put that in bold.

TheFairyCaravan · 02/02/2015 11:01

I can't wear heels due to severe back and pelvic problems.

I've got quite a collection of flat shoes and boots because when I see a pair I really like, if funds allow, I buy them. I tend to do it because when I want some I can never find them.

err, have you seen the new trends, 90's fashion and everything you describe is back!!

scotchmincepie · 02/02/2015 11:07

I wear a lot of flat boots, usually knee high - I find they look good with dresses and skirts. Or a slight heel. Also a couple of ankle boots with flat heels - but I find that a much harder look to pull off with skirts and skinnies. Usually go for a bit of a heel on boots with those but ones that are comfortable.

Boots with heels are much easier to walk in that shoes with heels - there's more support. But even so I'm not talking a high heel!

In summer I'm stuck unless it's really hot and I can wear bare legs and nice strappy flats.

Lottapianos · 02/02/2015 11:10

Seriously can't do heels at all scotch, not even wedges. I have a dodgy ankle from an injury a couple of years ago, and even a low heel makes the balls of my feet hurt after not much time at all. And I walk 2-4 miles most days so I just can't do it.

In winter, I live in ankle boots with thick warm socks scrunched down above the top of the boot, and I wear them with skinnies and skirts all the time. Its just Spring/Summer that has me a bit stumped

This is gold, people, thank you all - please keep it coming Grin

I'm the same, no wedges, no heels higher than about an inch and very wide feet. I have some smart Gabor ballet pumps for best, Mary Jane types for casual and wear boots or sandals for as much of the year as possible, even that's tricky as I have big calves and need good arch support, I use orthotics ad often as I can.

Orangeanddemons · 02/02/2015 11:24

I've never worn heels. I think they look daft.

I wear Brogues (with chunky socks) with trousers, loafers, and slip on shoes. I don't wear ballet pumps, as they knackered my achilles. Ankle boots in winter

YoullLikeItNotaLot · 02/02/2015 11:25

dots and dashes yeah, but my tummy doesn't look like it did in the 90s Grin

Nervo · 02/02/2015 11:31

I wear boots in the winter for work, converse for cutting about at the weekend, proper walking shoes for long country walks.

In the summer, ballet pump type shoes for work. Sturdier than ballet pumps though - I pick up a couple of pairs at a time from TK Maxx. Weekends are the same as Winter. Although I have some sandals and open conversey type shoes too.

I have some lovely Grecian type sandals for evenings out in the summer/on holiday.

Gabor has some really nice flats - forgot about them. But yes, flats can be really difficult. I would love to be able to wear brogues but I just look really wrong in them.

spottymoo · 02/02/2015 12:12

No heels here
In winter I wear flat knee highs leather converse and ugg boots.

Spring / summer I tend to wear white converse ballet flats Birkenstocks and I have a few pairs of pretty flat sandels as well.
