It's dull, grey, sullen sucks up any creams and make up I out on etc!

So I'm looking for a simple skin care rountine what products are good and worth looking at?

Also been reading good things about rosehip oil for dehydrated skin , anyone used this?

This is so useful, I was going to start a similar thread as my skin is just dire at the moment.

I am going to spend a lovely evening shopping!

Bioderma's Hydrabio range. It transformed my skin when I discovered it three years ago. I've had flaky skin since I was a child, and now all the flakiness has gone. Life changing.

The mask is amazing. It tells you to use it daily for a week and then a couple of times a week after that. Within a few days my face was plumped up, glowy and flake-free.

I also use the Hydrabio rich cream, which I think contains hyaluronic acid. It's lovely and light but so effective.

The micellar water is great for taking off eye makeup and giving your face a quick wipe in the mornings. At night I use the Hydrabio cleansing milk (not available in the UK yet but La Roche Posay do a good one) then wipe over with the micellar, then use Clarins Santal oil.

Honestly cannot recommend Bioderma enough. La Roche Posay gets recommended on here a lot but I found Bioderma far more effective for dehydration.

Baby oil to remove make up and waterproof mascara, taken off with a warm flannel.

Nivea blue pot cream at night.

Rosehip or sea buckthorn oil during the day , both equally effective.

I love Bioderma products too Daphne. Escentual often have 1/3 off French pharmacy brands, I stock up then.

Obviously making sure you drink plenty of liquids helps.
I use Rosehip oil, it's awesome. I use four drop and put it on while my face is wet.
Also look into oil cleansing, I a combination of olive, castor and avocado oils equal parts, and a couple of drops of vitamin e oil, massage well into dry skin, and wipe off with a hot face cloth. Will also remove makeup.

Steer clear of petroleum based products such as baby oil and most commercial face goop as that will just make it worse.

Squirrelsmum · 30/01/2015 10:45

That should read a hot damp face cloth, rinse it well throughout.

Bioderma gets my vote too, and seconding Squoosh on Escentual's offers. They come around several times a year. They have 25% off (but not on every range) until tomorrow I think.

Another one with dry skin but mine has improved 100% since using the Oil Cleansing Method. I use avocado oil or rose hip oil

In winter I also add a few drops of Rose Hip Oil to my normal daily moisturiser.

Also use a very gentle scrub once every two weeks to get rid of any lingering flakes.

pinkfrocks absolutely right - feed your skin from the inside. Smile

Have you tried looking at NUDE skincare?
They have amazing products.
I've been using their products all throughout the pregnancy, because my skin got very sensitive and I got bad reactions from perfumed cleansing jellies, and etc. But these skincare products really helped me all throughout my pregnancy and now I just don't want to change them :)

Maybe it will work for you :)

Best thing I ever did for dehydrated skin was get a moisturiser with hylaronic acid in it (it is sometmes called sodium hylaronate on labels). It really plumps up your skin. I use a lavera one, wild rose intensive care cream, but there are loads.

I also use a mix of jojoba, rosehip, rose and camellia oils, just a few drops, on top to lock in the moisture.

MoustacheofRonSwanson · 16/03/2015 21:01

Also, I do the oil cleansing method (use a mix of olive, avocado and carrot seed oils). Double cleansing has made a big difference (i.e. just doing the same method twice).

If you have blackheads/white heads, a once a week clay mask can work wonders. I just buy kaolin powder from akoma skincare and mix it myself with a little water, paint on with a foundation brush. Plus an exfoliation with an acid based exfoliator- a tsp honey, tsp olive oil, squeeze of lemon juice and little bit of sugar or oats works really well.

i like the look of the bioderma range so think I'm going to try that but does anyone have a recommendation for a face wash too?
