Well I bought two coats today. Ouch, so feeling broke. One is difficult to describe (unless you're anniemac!). It's casual with flamboyant looking fur around the neck and cuffs, hard to describe the colour maybe khaki/olive green in some lights, otherwise it's a kind of dark green. Anyway wore it out today as I did the rounds and interpreted the glances I got as admiring, so that's ok.

The other is a slim cut black wool coat with a big hood, very simple, soft, falls nicely, goes with everything and the kind of thing that lasts for years.

Already bought one pair of flat boots. What I need is black knee-length, flat boots and 3 pairs of trousers, 2 wider, long wool trousers to go with high-heeled boots and a casual pair in black. I also need a long wool wrap-around cardigan thing and 2 pullovers in cream and black.

Not to mention NEW UNDERWEAR

LiliLaTigresse · 19/10/2006 15:58

thanks fishie, was hoping for elegant, feminine and sexy (so my usual look then )
I hope the trousers are OK after a few hours wear and don't go at the bum/knees.....
Am going to wear them to go to the Divine Comedy concert on saturday!

Bozza · 19/10/2006 16:13

Sandy the first coat sounds good. Where did you get it from?

SSSandy · 19/10/2006 16:19

Bozza, I wasn't entirely sure about it TBH but dd approved. I live in Germany and I got it at a local store here so I don't think you can get it in the UK

Bozza · 19/10/2006 16:21

Shame. I am after a coat for casual and it sounded great. I don't do casual very well.

Lucy1977 · 19/10/2006 16:55

AM - I would like to wear more dresses and skirts because I feel like I always wear jeans/trousers (at work as well).

I have lots of nice high boots that I could wear but seem to be unable to have any fashion know how! I don't know what goes with what or where to buy the items. When I look in Monsoon/Oasis/Reiss etc I don't see anything for "me" but when I see friends wearing nice things and ask where they got it they tell me Monsoon/Oasis/Reiss etc.etc.

I like your idea of wrap dress but ones I've tried on haven't reached my knee (I'm 5ft 7inch). Any idea where to get nice one from?

I mostly have been reading home decorating and baby magazines so feel my head has been in the clouds for a long time! I'm lucky I've always had a passion for makeup so no problem there.

Thanks for any advice

Lucy

I have recently bought the most gorgeous pair of brown boots, wish I could find them online to post a link as I am very proud of them [sad emoticon] (Tootsies, if you are reading Pruni, you must take a look they have the most fantastic shoes and bags ). A brown cashmere jumper from Tesco. This skirt which I wear with a Teal coloured long sleeved top.

I could however do with a pair of black stilletto heeled boots to make my black dress do for winter.

Another jumper, quite impressed with the Tesco one so maybe another from there.

A couple of cardi type things - this is a problem for me, I can't seem to get cardis that look anything on. I am now regretting not buying one that I tried on in Monsoon last week as I think it was the best of a bad bunch. At the time I was grudging the £50 price tag.

Another pair of jeans, going to give Gap a go.

Winter type jacket, coat from last year is still fine but could do with a jacket.

MrsSpoon · 19/10/2006 17:17

Oh and a wrap style dress.

Lucy1977 · 19/10/2006 18:10

Nooo AM don't dessert me! Loved your ideas so far. Need casual clothes too. can I wear a roll neck (from Zara) and jeans with boots? Or is that not a good look?

Thanks!

Lucy

LiliLaTigresse · 19/10/2006 18:27

Lucy, I am tall too and the best wrap dresses for me are Boden and Hobbs (Hobbs are really fab, nice heavy material and great cut)

Lucy1977 · 19/10/2006 20:03

LLT, thanks for your reply. Hobbs is usually a bit over my budget but I think that's where I go wrong as I seem to have drawers and racks of clothes but nothing fits properly or goes with anything else.

I'm shopping on Tuesday next week so any more ideas welcome. I'll go into Hobbs then too.

Thanks

Bozza · 19/10/2006 21:35

What about H&M Lucy - that is where I got my wrap dress.

Lucy1977 · 19/10/2006 21:50

Yes Bozza think I need to go to H&M, haven't been for a while due to nearest one to me being a pain to get to. Is a size 12/14 ok to wear a wrap dress though? I'm worried it's going to shop all my lumps and bumps or perhaps I need to buy some new undies as well.

Lucy

LiliLaTigresse · 20/10/2006 10:12

Lucy, a size 12/14 is absolutely fine for a wrap dress, they are so flattering! If you can invest £115, get a Hobbs one, you won't regret it and you'll get a lot of wear out of it. I have the berry print one in brown and it's so easy to wear and slimming.
