uggs-Are they completely 'out' now?

I am heavily pregnant and at the stage where laces and buckles on shoes never mind heels are just an awkward difficulty. Having never considered them before I do remember hearing uggs are really comfy, are they totally passé now though?

My daughter and her friends still wear them (16)

MaryWestmacott · 13/01/2015 16:12

yep, bit naff, people still wear them but they are looking dated and will look very dated before they've worn out if you buy them now, sorry. Can you not just get some zipped flat boots? They aren't really a cheap "just wear for a couple of weeks until you can bend easily again" boot, so if you are going to spend that much, get something a bit more "get a couple of winters out of them" boots.

gaggiagirl · 13/01/2015 16:13

I'm still an.avid wearer. Also who gives a damn so long as you are comfy. Your toes will be so toasty and snug. Enjoy them.

NoImSpartacus · 13/01/2015 16:14

No, but I would say the more fashion forward folk are wearing the structured varieties, Kensingtons, etc, that's what I've noticed anyway (live in Central London if that makes any dif). I would say the original Uggs are a little passé.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/01/2015 16:16

They don't have any support in them, so I don't think they're the best choice for your poor pregnant feet. Do you need to have boots? Would a Velcro fastening trainer give you a bit more support and be easier to fasten?

Clueing4looks · 13/01/2015 16:19

They have an 'ugg' type boot on sale for £25 in river island this week.

YouAreMyRain · 13/01/2015 16:28

Why are you bothered if they are in or out? You are pregnant! Comfort is king!
When I was pregnant the only footwear I could fit my puffy feet in were crocs. Even the crocs were uncomfortably tight. Blush

leedy · 13/01/2015 16:29

Ugg do a whole range of more structured boots (biker boot type, etc.) that have proper soles and don't look like Uggs, IYKWIM, while still having the warm cosy lining. Might be worth a look? Would have more support etc. than the traditional Ugg and easy enough to put on (generally just a zip). I am wearing a pair of mine now and they are super comfy.

Also I feel your pain, I remember the indignity of trying to get into shoes during the Angry Hippo phase of pregnancy. As I remember, Camper also do quite a few comfy flat boots that you just slip on/zip on. I had a pair that zipped up the back like grandma booties...

Flippityflip · 13/01/2015 16:34

I'd rather something warmer than trainers as I have converse with no laces at the mo which are easy to get on and off and ballet flats but feet are cold in both of these.I have got knee high pull on flat boots but when I walk these make my maternity jeans fall down!!
The lack of support thing isn't great though.I had hoped that as they are dearer they would be better than other boots.
I will google 'Kensington' boots. I just want something warm and comfy that I can pull on easily. While it is a short term problem I'd still wear them after the not being able to easily do up shoes part is over too.

I have the Kensington's, wore them today as it's snowing in Scotland. My feet were toasty warm and I don't care what anyone thinks about my feet Grin

No, plus there's all different styles coming out anyway. I have the ones that look like biker boots, can't remember the name now. Even if they weren't fashionable I'd still wear them because I walk to work in them, they look nice with my tights and long coat.

Mulberrystreet · 13/01/2015 16:59

Probably but I don't care. Love mine. So comfortable and warm. A pair lasts me 2 years and I wear them to death so worth it in my eyes.

GraysAnalogy · 13/01/2015 17:00

I really like them leedy, they're a bit like mine www.uggaustralia.eu/1001733.html?dwvar_1001733_color=BWST#start=25&cgid=women-boots

MadameOvary · 13/01/2015 17:01

Forget Uggs. Go for Celtic Sheepskin. Cheaper and better made

Not according to Vogue

PrimalLass · 13/01/2015 17:33

I don't care, and live in a village where everyone wears casual, 'performance' stuff anyway. I just received the leather 'classics' that were linked to a couple of days ago, and they are lovely.

PrimalLass · 13/01/2015 17:35

Jeez, don't buy Kensingtons if you want something that is easy to get on and off. I struggled last year and I was just a stone heavier than now, not pregnant!!

dotsanddashes · 13/01/2015 17:36

I have a feeling Uggs (the brand in particular as well as the style) are on their way back in, if the fashion bloggers and instagrammers are anything to go by. (I mean the bloggers who work in the industry, or who are paid by the big brands to wear the newest trends first. Not the 40-something-mum bloggers). Although I don't think its the classic tan ones, I've seen more of the mini ankle length classics, or the biker styles being used.

I've got the Ugg Sutter, still on sale at Kurt Geiger in a few sizes, and some other sites if you google. Look like a biker boot but fully sheepskin lined. The quality is great, and they are water resistant, but I think the classics are inferior quality to Celtic and Co, so I definitely look at them too if you were interested in that style.

Monocerus · 13/01/2015 17:41

I have the biker style ones with a proper sole (grandle?) and I love them. I don't care if they aren't fashionable. They are comfy and warm.

bberry · 13/01/2015 17:43

I have the waterproof black ones and they are amazing... Broke my heart to spend all that money on unpretty boots but they were worth every penny!!!
