Do you wear more comfy clothes when you get home

Just wondering as I have started changing into my fleecy pyjamas when I get home, I find it saves my clothes from getting creased and covered in cat hairs. However, someone at work told me the other day that her daughter accused her of letting herself go because she changed into her jamas once she got home, but I have heard of many people that do this.

Yeah! I have special lounging wear: this evening I am dressed head to toe in burgundy velour Grin. Fortunately I live on my own, I don't think I could subject anyone else to my lounging pants. Also swap my contacts for specs (which I rarely wear outside the house because I hate how I look in them) and take off my bra, because it's so bloody uncomfortable.

Mamab33 · 10/01/2015 20:08

Yes...house clothes!

MimiSunshine · 10/01/2015 20:09

If not going out or expecting anyone then leggings, big socks and a soft cotton plaid shirt once I'm home from work.
I'm conscious of not wanting 'to let myself go' (because in all honesty fleecy comfy PJs are not ever sexy and I would judge someone if I saw them in PJS at 7pm) but I want to be comfy. I don't wear PJs to bed though and this outfit is respectable enough to open the front door in while being snugly.

dexter73 · 10/01/2015 20:11

No I just keep my clothes on. I don't actually own any pyjamas or jogging bottoms either!

dogrilla · 10/01/2015 20:12

It's just nice to come home and put your soft clothes on, isn't it? Don't necessarily want to sit on the sofa in posh office clothes or tight jeans and a rigid bra when I'm relaxing. Leggings, oversized cashmere jumper and slippers when DH is around, and when he's not I love slipping on a holey jumper, PJ bottoms and an ancient Puffa waistcoat that makes me look like an 80-year-old Sloane.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/01/2015 20:37

No, never, unless I am wearing a smart dress and heels, which is about once a year. Otherwise I'm a jeans and leggings sort of person, so I'm comfy all the time. Bras stay on, I don't want my chest bouncing around all evening, contact lenses stay in - they are comfier than glasses. PJs never go on till bedtime, I would be highly embarrassed to open the front door in them.

ouryve · 10/01/2015 20:38

trills, when you're a bit apple shaped and have completely lost muscle tone in the middle, for good, then jeans need a belt, and once you sit down that belt, like even a good bra, starts to feel a bit restrictive. So you undo the belt and end up with the crotch of your jeans halfway down your thighs when you get up to answer the door.

Or you simply change into something that doesn't look as good, but doesn't dig in, any more, when you're trying to relax, after dinner.

Anything I wear at home also gets filthy at mealtimes, as mentioned upthread, so I prefer not to wear nicer stuff that's a faff to wash and must be ironed, when it's trashed after a few hours, possibly permanently.

zinnia · 10/01/2015 22:57

God yes. I'm not bathing the kids in my nice work clothes! Usually change whilst they get undressed, yoga pants, long vest & a sweatshirt. Not PJs but just comfy. Mostly only do this in the week though, don't feel the need so much wearing jeans at the weekends.

poocatcherchampion · 10/01/2015 23:01

I'm glad someone else changes PJs at bedtime. I much prefer wearing a nightie to actually sleep but I think its a bit weird to have 2 sets of sleepwear on the go! Smile

Lulabellarama · 10/01/2015 23:02

In the summer I tend to have a cool shower and put a nice cotton dress on. Winter I go for formal joggers/vest/cardi/slippers.
Always bra off.

mausmaus · 10/01/2015 23:04

I always wear comfy clothes, so no need to change.

starsandunicorns · 10/01/2015 23:06

Both myself and dh change into pjs as soon as we get home loads of times the wash basket contains only PJs and work uniform and underwear its just us here

Apatite1 · 10/01/2015 23:06

I wear comfy stuff from uniqlo and hush at home, with non-wired bras, some sort of cardigan or gown usually, cashmere socks. Decent enough to open the door but supremely comfortable.

gaggiagirl · 10/01/2015 23:21

My pyjamas are printed leggings and plain long sleeved tees. I have about six pairs of my 'pyjamas'. So I'm totally comfy, yet looked dressed if I ever answer the door.
I shower as soon as I'm home from work and apply the jarmas!

blueshoes · 10/01/2015 23:29

Yes, I have home clothes as my work and going out clothes can be quite restrictive.

Dh is not impressed but then if I was always gorgeous, he'd have nothing to look forward to.

HolyTerror · 10/01/2015 23:29

I'm always a bit taken aback by the frequent references to this practice on Mn, and want to ask whether these people wear terribly ill-fitting or uncomfortable clothes during the daytime? I suppose I could understand it more easily if your work required a polyester uniform or a corset, but I would have said that a properly-fitting bra, for instance, shouldn't make its presence felt at all...?

I'm an academic, and on teaching/meetings days wear wrap dresses or wide-legged wool trousers and boots, but I tend not to change after I get home unless I'm bread making or something.

Mrsteddyruxpin · 10/01/2015 23:29

I don't wear pjs (t short or nightie) but I wear navy or black stretch trousers at home (post baby currently so all the time)

Flip flops at home too

galletti2014 · 10/01/2015 23:43

Clothes not uncomfortable Holy Terror, but personally, after being in formal work clothes from 7.00am till 6.00pm, I like to get a bit comfy in my own home, usually leggings/floaty trousers and tee-shirts with a wrap. In the summer, straight into shorts, tee and and flip flops!

starsandunicorns · 11/01/2015 14:48

Polyster type shirt and trousers awful cut im in it from 5:45 am till 6pm so want to get out asap dh wears jeans and t shirt but is the same as soon as we get home its shower and pjs

DidoTheDodo · 11/01/2015 14:54

Oh yes. Big furry dressing gown in this cold weather. I don't get home til after 7pm so that's nearly bedtime!

Cocolepew · 11/01/2015 14:58

Yes, jogging bottoms and a hoodie. I hate sitting around in jeans.

Lovelydiscusfish · 11/01/2015 21:36

I wear a suit or structured dress and jacket, plus tights and smartish shoes, in the day (am a secondary school teacher). While not hideously uncomfy at work, am greatly relieved to change into stuff (with elastic waist bands) as soon as I get home. In terms of bra, I know intellectually that a well-fitted bra should be so comfy that I shouldn't feel the need to take it off, but have been for fittings in various places and still never found a bra I wouldn't rather remove, than wear! I have smallish breasts, and I'm sure if one is a bit bigger in this department, it's a different story and possibly uncomfy to go bra-less.
In summer, from what I remember, I change either into a big t-shirt and short leggings, or a sun-dress. I do own summer pyjamas too, but there is not quite the same cosy feel as changing into one's warmer ones.

judydoes · 11/01/2015 21:46

I am not comfy in clothes, any clothes apart from pjs. Even jogging bottoms aren't as good when I get home!

In my defense i try to wear 'pretty' pjamas, that are nice, little vest top and wide leg bottoms, I kid myself they're just like an outfit I'd go out in in the summer!

And they're on the minute I walk through that door!

GlitteryLipgloss · 11/01/2015 21:50

As soon as I get home from work (6pm) bra off. jim jams on. slippers.

Beautiful feeling.Smile

Marcelinewhyareyousomean · 11/01/2015 21:59

Yoga pants and vest tops. Bra on 24\7.

The secret is to have PJs that don't look too much like PJs. My friend's DH doesn't know they are PJs (he pops in to see dh).

I need to find out more about lounge wear.
