Properly moisturising shower wash - does it exist?

I may be asking for the moon on a stick, but here goes...

When the weather gets really cold, my skin gets really itchy. Body lotion helps but no matter how much it claims to absorb immediately, I still feel sticky after applying it.

So, are there any shower washes (gel/cream/oil) out there which actually DO moisturise, rather than just claiming they do?

You could try diprobase cream emiollient. Easy to get including from your gp, works wonders.

Kiehls argon oil shower is fab.

Epiderm used as a shower creme (makes bath/shower tray slippy if you are not careful). A tub lasts for ages, no scent.

Elemis moisturising shower cream, not cheap but lasts well and although scented is reasonably neutral. I am currently using the Elemis and had forgotten how moisturising it is.

Just wash using aqueous cream (huge tub 3 or less) this is prescribed for older people with dry skin. You just have to be careful not to slip and run hot water through plug hole after shower as it can mix with hair and cause blockages. Guaranteed to give you bably soft skin and not itches in less than a week.

Check the ingredients - anything with mineral oil/paraffin in it won't be moisturising as it acts as a barrier and is often the reason yr skin feels sticky after. I can't use anything with lanolin in it either.

Many thanks again to everyone for your suggestions. I used the L'Occitane Almond Oil for the first time today and it feels lovely. Skin still a wee bit itchy but it will probably take a few days before I notice a real improvement. I have made a note of all the other products recommended and will try those if I don't get on with the L'Occitane stuff.

Try aleppo gold olive oil soap. No fancy smell just pure old fashioned syrian soap. I think it's quite expensive but worth it. Dd`s both have eczema and its the one & only thing to settle their skin. We all use it now and can feel the difference if we don't, skin would be tight itchy dry. You can get it on Amazon.

Another vote for the L'occitane Almond oil, my dh commented how soft my skin was not so long ago and I'd only been using it a week.

KoalaDownUnder · 03/01/2015 14:10

Everyone I know who has dry skin swears by Cetaphil.

ForSaleChesterDraws · 05/01/2015 08:34

L'occitane shower oil bargain! I've just bought a 250ml bottle and 500ml refill for £27 (plus 2% quidco cash back). It's from here with the code SALE2015. So £9 a bottle instead of £17.

I am tempted by the locctaine as I saw that offer too. Is it worth it? Is it highly scented?

pinkhousesarebest · 05/01/2015 13:55

I was in a hamman recently and one of the ladies gave me Aleppo soap to try. It had the most amazing effect on my crocodile skin legs. I have never seen anything like it. The regulars were mostly all Algerian and brought the soap back from their hols. I will try Amazon, thank you Jelly.

Another vote for the Elemis Shower Cream. It's fab.
Their Milk Bath is gorgeous and v moisturising too.
