Howdy!

You may know that the BaByliss Big Hair recently became a Mumsnet Best. You may even be among those who let us know about it by posting your reviews here.

As Big Hair Talk comes around every Christmas, we decided to invest and put together this video so you can judge for yourself what all the fuss is about! Do have a watch and share on the thread your thoughts or, if you have one already, your top tips!

Ooh – and don't forget to let us know what other style and beauty vids you'd like to see (we're always after fresh ideas for our shiny new YouTube channel - you can subscribe here if you haven't already!).

Wishing you added oomph and swish in the New Year!

No, I find that if I air dry I don't get the same effect that hairdryer followed by the BBH gives me - I've got wavy, thick, frizzy hair. I blast it with the hairdryer, section it off, and run the BBH through keeping my hair taut as I go. I use a heat spray followed by a mousse for wavy/frizzy hair.

YesAnastasia · 01/01/2015 18:12

I agree - air dry=frizz & fly away.

I dry with the hair dryer then style when my hair is still quite hot & damp. I should (& will...) use a heat protection spray.

I also use an oil when I've finished. Amazing results.

JustJanice thank you. Definitely worth getting one then? I can't be doing with spending 20 minutes doing my hair though - is that how long it takes? I've got mid to long length hair and normally blast it with a hairdryer and put some straighteners through it. Obviously doesn't look "salon styled" but it is ok. Do the BBH really make it look good?

Bartlebee · 01/01/2015 20:03

I don't get it - her hair looks really flat which I presume is not the point.

Chandon · 01/01/2015 20:17

It is done all wrong in the vid.

I love it, I leave my hair to air dry, to "almost dry", then 5 mins with the big hair.

The big barrel she uses is too big for her hair as well. Hair shoulder length or shorter does better with the smaller barrel.

Hi everyone, thanks so much for your feedback and apologies for the silence over New Year.
We've obviously missed the mark here and will look at doing another video –great to hear your tips in the meantime, we like the idea of showing how it works for really unruly hair/frizz days! And will ask the experts for advice on which products to use - in this video, just heat protection spray and a bit of serum to finish.

Well I've got mega unruly, frizzy hair and have come away from reading this thread thinking that this is top of my 2015 must-have list.

Looking forward to updated tips, VikkiMumsnet!

mine broke, 2nd one. they seem to last barely 2 years' but I got my money back. I prefer the slimmer barrel one as my hair isn't that long.
