Juice detox/diet?

Anyone done one? I'd like a 3 or 5 day package plan for total cleansing and a weight loss kick start...

Recommendations much appreciated!

hmm - think you have to be careful, i tried using two of the Naked juices a day as meal replacements and it upset my system a lot. On the other hand lots of people recommend the juice doctor (Jason Vale's) plan.

jugglingmonkey · 27/12/2014 23:01

That's the one coming up in my google searches, James Vale... I'm not expecting it to be easy but I feel so sluggish and lethargic, I think a cleansing diet is the only way forward!

you don't need to detox - your body does it automatically. Save your money.

msfreud · 27/12/2014 23:47

Naked juices are full of sugar and two a day is definitely not enough. If you want to do it properly you need mostly green juices made from organic greens. Google Plenish juices.

turdfairynomore · 28/12/2014 00:06

Try googling skinny malinkys?? It's not for me, but some of the girls I work with swear by their 3/5 day juice plans.

butterfliesinmytummy · 28/12/2014 00:13

Just cut out sugar, gluten, caffeine and alcohol for a week, drink 2l water a day and leave 12 hours between dinner and breakfast. It's much better than the juice fast.....

FergusSingsTheBlues · 28/12/2014 08:15

A juice fast cleared my psoriasis years ago. I can't say I looked amazingly healthy afterwards although I lost quite a bit of weight, but just flooding your system with vitamins is bound to help you feel better. I did it as a last ditch attempt before going on chemotherapy. It's not about detox, it's about nourishment.

Also, it resets your eating urges.....afterwards you are satisfied relatively quickly and I never ate any more rubbish for about a year when I was pregnant.

But don't buy any juices, make the. Yourself, it's easy and not that expensive.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 28/12/2014 09:54

I make my own & they do make me feel much better, I don't just have juice though. Fruit smoothie for breakfast, juice for lunch & one for tea alongside a healthy dinner. I'd be miserable as sin just juicing, and it does stop you reaching for sugar filled items.

Kundry · 28/12/2014 09:57

There's no such thing as detox or cleansing, your body does it automatically. It's just a clever way to take cash from you.

ElizabethHoover · 28/12/2014 09:59

you all know detox is an utter bolloocky myth, right?

cathyandclaire · 28/12/2014 10:58

Your body does do it yourself but not if you keep slugging down the Wine and Cake, I find a short sharp burst after Xmas helps draw a line under all the excess and shrinks your tummy down again!

Kundry · 28/12/2014 11:31

Too much cake though isn't too much toxins, it's eating too many calories - you don't need to juice or detox, you are just eating less calories for a few days to lose weight after Christmas, then returning to your normal pre-Christmas eating pattern.

You could achieve exactly the same by just eating less for a few days. There is no magic to juice/detox diets, all they are doing is providing fewer calories for a few days.

jugglingmonkey · 28/12/2014 14:42

I know it's a bit of a fad... But yes, I need to lose some weight, sharpish... I intend to cut down on sugar/caffeine/alcohol etc but I want to 'reset' before I start... I need a cleanse basically!

jugglingmonkey · 28/12/2014 14:50

So if I were to make my own, can anyone recommend a juicer? £150-200 tops!

LostSoulsForever · 28/12/2014 15:01

If you time, have a look at 'sick, fat & nearly dead' on YouTube. Can't remember the guy's name - joe someone or other, I think - he has a recipe book out as well.

grumblepuss · 28/12/2014 15:02

Just eat the fruit/veg. You need the fiber which the juicer removes as pulp.
Eat a big salad followed by a fruit salad.

Kundry · 28/12/2014 15:24

Juicing is effectively turning nice healthy, full of fibre fruit into sugar water. Just eat the fruit and veg and spend the £200 on something nicer Xmas Smile

dexter73 · 28/12/2014 15:29

The talk of cleansing and resetting yourself is all a load of nonsense you know! Just eat more fruit and veg without spending loads on a juicer.

Trills · 28/12/2014 15:43

No, you don't need a cleanse.

Cutting down on sugar/alcohol/caffeine is a good aim.

No need to mess about.

Twinklebells · 28/12/2014 15:48

I must admit I make smoothies as it is a quick and easy way to eat lots of fruit and veg - and I am flipping lazy quite frankly. But no way do you need a £200 juicer - and all this resetting, cleansing, kickstarting is bollocks. Just eat less crap and move more. Anything else is just a fad and an utter con.

thekitchenfairy · 28/12/2014 15:52

I like the Jason Vale veg based recipes. I bought a Philips juicer from currys for £60 in the pre Xmas sale. it's huge and makes enough for breakfast and take 1 to work for lunch in one juicing. All his juices that I've done are veg based so don't have the sugar spike.

I will be getting rid of guests and enjoy having 2 -4 juice a day, 3 litres water and light eve meal. If I need extra during day at work I have half an avocado instead of whizzing it into a juice.

Yes I know the body can reset automatically but I find a mostly juice diet for a few days resets me by making me sleep lots and floods me with energy after day 2. And if i drink lots of water I find it makes me more in tune with my body. I love it!!

jugglingmonkey · 28/12/2014 16:01

You're all far too sensible... I feel like I need to 'buy into' a programme or something, otherwise I'll not stick to it!

OP posts:
dexter73 · 28/12/2014 16:05

What do you mean by 'the body can reset automatically' and 'being in tune with your body'? I'm not being arsy I just genuinely don't understand what it means!

Lizzylou · 28/12/2014 16:16

I normally use my juicer in Summer, just for breakfast, though I have done Jason Vale's plan a few times.
I prefer the Nutribullet, it doesn't juice/extract but makes smoothies out of what you put in, nothing is lost, so you get all the fibre etc. I add nuts, seeds etc 1/3 greens, fruit. I have one for breakfast to make sure that I stay healthy during what is a stressful and busy time. It does help, but I don't just rely on that. My dh had a healthscare this year and he makes sure we eat well and I always try and exercise.

Trills · 28/12/2014 16:17

How is this different to a normal blender?
