Boots for a mum that aren't mum boots but not too high fashion either

I usually wear walking shoes to work because they're waterproof, I can wash the mud off and they don't look horribly scruffy. But I'd rather be a bit smarter. The obvious choice is mum boots in a jodhpur style but that's clearly a no. Any suggestions? I'm a wide footed size 6.

Clarks do goretex boots and they have a sale on atm. Search for 'gtx' on the clarks website and see which styles you like.

Thank you. What do we think of these? :)

they look like boots youd wear if you had a prosthetic foot

NO

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:40

how much mud do you find on your commute? Hmm

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:41

if you like the walking boot style,, why cant you just wear a normal shoe though?

I'm a vet... No prostheses yet but one of these days I'll maybe get on the wrong side of a horse.

I think people needed the vet context Grin

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:45

just a bit. but do you work in wellies then? on farmyards?

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:45

Ps we will just run a few blood tests, that will cost you £40 Wink

crapcrapcrapcrap · 26/12/2014 21:46

I'll make sure to emphasise that all my limbs are intact next time I try S&B as well Grin

Have you looked at fly London ones? I walk miles in mine each day and they are great. Or doc martens?

Fairylea · 26/12/2014 21:49

Doc martens? I love mine Grin

crapcrapcrapcrap · 26/12/2014 21:49

Yeah I wear wellies on farm but there's never a dry bit to change shoes, so I don't like silly little shoes because they just get wet and wrecked. Also it's winter and icy and musddy everywhere so heels are not handy.

Grin!! @ ElizabethHoover

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:49

think i would keep old snow boots in the car

keep others in the surgery for when you get there

GristletoeAndWhine · 26/12/2014 21:49

Are we talking ankle or high?
What are mum boots? (do I have several pairs and didn't know it)

crapcrapcrapcrap · 26/12/2014 21:52

Ankle best. I've got huge calves (wouldn't be a problem if only I had prosthetic legs ) so long boots are just trouble.

I'll check out Fly :)

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 21:52

lol

CaulkheadUpNorth · 26/12/2014 21:53

I have huge calfs and some fly are fine for me. They have a good sole and I've never had any problems with them.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 26/12/2014 21:55

What about these? I saw these today and thought they looked good. www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1017752&vid=1&pid=000989403000

I have massive 43 cm calves, and those DMs I linked to fit fine and are nice and wide footed too.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 26/12/2014 22:00

I do, they are in the garden. My calves are fine. Are we not meant to put baby cows in boots now? Confused

ElizabethHoover · 26/12/2014 22:03

i actually laughed out loud at that SO CUTE
