Help me to dry out unsightly hormonal chin line spots...!

Using only what I have in the house
I have... bicarb of soda
Essential oils of peppermint, clary sage and ylang ylang
white and cider vinegar

I have a roll on thingy that frees ingrown hairs that sometimes helps and dries them out (this isn't ingrown hair, I don't have hairy chin) but it's not touching it and it's way too drying / stings. Tried squeezing and just made them inflamed and painful
(and yes, it's PMS time)

I second Hibiscrub.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/12/2014 21:02

what's in hibi that makes it work so well on chin zits?

OP posts:
MrPickles123 · 17/12/2014 21:47

Hibiscrub is basically used as a preventative scrub to reduce you getting Mrsa when having an operation, which means it kills all the germs on your face.

It's quite drying on my skin, so only ever use it in my skin and the odd spot I get near my nose.

I should really cut out all dairy, but I can't. I love cheese way too much, but now only have it occasionally instead Sad

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/12/2014 21:57

yeh because I'm not eating a slice of cheesecake right now, no of course not, it's the worst PMS food ever! Blush runs and hides , licking off crumbs

I started getting spots in my mid-30's, never had them as a teen so it was a big shock. I have zineryt from the GP which helps dry any spots out quickly but going low carb and cutting out sugars has stopped any spots forming. I eat dairy and for me, dairy doesn't cause spots. You might have to experiment to see what your "trigger" is.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/12/2014 22:00

yes i suspect might be a certain trigger and not necessarily dairy as i've always eaten tons of yogurt/ dairy and had good skin. but a low carb diet is better full stop. I did follow it for years after seeing a nutritionist but has somewhat lapsed hugely It didn't make my skin better doing that but I don't remember the painful jawline volcanoes. they seem to go so DEEP!! it's gross. they really ache

i just remember nutritionist always saying , all chin spots are hormones. i've also been getting some on lower cheeks as well that go quite deep. before my 40s.. never a spot except during that detox, but you expect to be spotty then (and that was with no dairy..but so much toxins coming out, i got zitty.. it was a good thing though as it was working)

I think chin spots are hormonal. I have multiple intolerances so don't eat dairy, wheat, meat and rarely drink alcohol and still I would get them. I started using micellar water as a cleanser and haven't had them for the past couple of months! My skin looks better than it has done in years.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/12/2014 22:32

i always cleanse with micelar but made no difference. before that was cleanse and polish (liz earle) and i never moisturise chin/ jaw either

Bless you, I have a massive many headed hormonal break out to the right of my nose. It keeps springing new oily painful poppable heads,

It's definitely hormonal, I am premenstrual, it hurts, and there is no quick cure but it will probably leave me with purple shadowing for weeks.

Happy happy joy joy.

I'm 31 and had the chin spot invasion start a year or so ago. I had already replaced a lot of dairy with soya, and found a correlation between the amount of soya milk I drank and the number of spots. Switching to oat milk has helped, as has a liberal coating of Witch Blemish Gel every night before bed (and if I am getting a spot I put some on in the morning too). My skin was fine before a chat about headaches with the doctor led to a diagnosis of migraines and no more pill...

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/12/2014 23:11

i love oat milk. Soya is awful stuff... worst thing you can possibly have for under active thyroid too

I'm on Roaccutane.

Middle age acne as the dermatologist kindly described it.

Anyway has sorted my skin out a treat.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/12/2014 23:24

Go to the doctor and get a prescription of Dalacin T. It is the stuff of wonder and the spots go, and go quickly.

GobblersKnob · 17/12/2014 23:24

Mine were terrible for about three years, huge angry below surface volcanoes that never erupted and hurt to touch, got between one and three per period, they were just about cleared up before my next one came around.

Started using this two years ago and have honestly never had one since, occasionally tiny tiny spots that are gone in two days, nothing else ever.

I use it once a day, under moisturiser (isn't moisturizing enough for my skin, would never be without it now. Obviously have no idea if it would work for others, but isn't that expensive for a try.

Interestingly I also have a yoghurt addiction, I eat loads and cheese and er alpro ;) also a vegetarian.

Derma flannel cured my chin spots can't recommend highly enough!

alltoomuchrightnow · 19/12/2014 23:35

now period has started (today) the spots have massively reduced. I did dry them out massively with the ingrown hair stuff but now got flaky hard skin there which is not attractive either! What is a derma flannel ? i keep hearing about it.

BehindLockNumberNine · 20/12/2014 13:40

alltoomuch what is the ingrown hair stuff you mentioned? For the past few months I have been getting huge boil type spots under my jawline, they are hard, not poppable and almost always contain an ingrown hair....

Chillyegg · 20/12/2014 13:46

Toothpaste works for me!

alltoomuchrightnow · 20/12/2014 13:50

It's called PFB, it's a roll on, I get it from eBay and it's brilliant, you can buy trial sizes which still last ages
reason being is so attractive Hmm - am not a hairy person at all yet i have one mole, that always, always gets an ingrown hair and then gets pus filled.

OP posts:
alltoomuchrightnow · 20/12/2014 13:51

I know you wanted to use things you've got in the house, so I don't have anything useful to add right now. But for the future, I really recommend investing in this. It's a miracle worker on cystic bumps.
