Which BB cream....

MummysLittleSunbeams · 09/12/2014 12:18

..... for a dewy & illuminated finish? I've never used one before. I've spent the last half an hour in Boots & now I'm more confused than I was before. Confused

High street brands preferably please.

If anyone is on a budget, Lidl do a BB cream (called Osiris Avise) for a fraction of the price, which I found identical to the Garnier one I'd used for ages.

ArtyFartyQueen · 11/12/2014 08:20

I use the Garnier one, not too expensive and good coverage although the Sephora one sounds amazing so will have to see if I can get some!

mizu · 11/12/2014 09:56

I use garnier BB for combination to oily skin and I like it. Not expensive.

Wanted to try Clinique CC but the lady at the Clinique counter said it wasn't great for oily skin.

TheIronGnome · 11/12/2014 10:03

I love the a I ageing garnier one, it has a bit of primer in it and it's wonderful!

TheYuletideMovement · 11/12/2014 10:08

I like the Garnier one. The Boots Botanics was too pale for me and sank into my pores in little white dots.

arlagirl · 11/12/2014 10:09

I like the Clinique one

MsVanRein · 11/12/2014 10:17

Clinique CC cream hands down its gorgeous.

Ringsender · 11/12/2014 10:53

I use the Garnier undereye shadow roll-on over the bits of my face that need it - udnereyes, cheeks (broken veins), red bit on my chin and any spots. It means that I'm not fully covered in cream, but have smoothed out the worst bits. It has good staying power (maybe more pigment than the normal BB cream?). It works really well.

Loulou000 · 11/12/2014 14:50

"and she tells me avoid bb creams. A tinted moisturizer is better" Did she say why?

thumbing my way through Pretty Honest book...

She says they try to do too much and don't do any of it well. Leave dry skin tight and flaky. Deliver a very flat, matte, clay like finish, and are unflattering on older skins. Hard to match to black or Asian skins.

Bunbaker · 11/12/2014 15:15

I'm 56 and the BB cream I use doesn't do any of those things to me. How old is this article?

FrameyMcFrame · 11/12/2014 16:29

Rimmel. Cheap and good.

Lndnmummy · 11/12/2014 16:34

Clarins bb is lovely, they are generous with samples too

chancer2014 · 11/12/2014 16:36

useful thread

Spanglemum · 11/12/2014 17:20

Another vote for Superdrug B.

smoothieooo · 11/12/2014 17:20

Another vote for Clinique CC cream - I have blotchy skin with large pores and it really makes a difference. If I'm going out, I'll put Max Factor foundation on top and This Works primer below.

AsBrightAsAJewel · 11/12/2014 19:59

I've not found one I like - and I've tried quite a few - because I'm very pale with dry skin and I've yet to find one that is pale enough and not too matte and dry. Anyone got any recommendations, please? If it is from a natural range with no "nasties" in it, even better.

Bunbaker · 11/12/2014 20:01

I always wear moisturiser under BB cream. Maybe that is why it doesn't dry my skin out.

kicker · 11/12/2014 20:27

Go onto Ebay and by a Korean brand. Far better than anything you can buy here and not that expensive. I have tried VIP super Beblish Balm. That was good but then I upgraded to LIOELE Dollish CC. Really impressed. I put a bit of serum before I put on the CC cream and it is not drying at all.

MrsNPattz · 11/12/2014 20:32

Forever Living Products Flawless BB Creme! Aloe vera based and natural, I never used anything before but can't live without this now!

trickydickie · 11/12/2014 21:17

Has the boots botanics one been discontinued? I also couldn't find it online. I went into a biggish boots this evening. They had 2 on the shelf but in "light". I asked one of the sales assistants and she said they were out of stock of the "medium" one. She tried to order it in for me but said she wasn't able to order any as they had discontinued it! Thought I would try this miracle cream (and miracles I am needing) and now I can't.

Loulou000 · 12/12/2014 09:25

Fresh off the press, but it's just one person's opinion, so I'm glad if BB works for you. I only tried a Clarins one and it made me feel patchy and dry, but that's just me.

Bunbaker · 12/12/2014 09:32

It just goes to show that everyone's skin is different, as are the different brands. I wear moisturiser under BB cream as well.

lisaspencer · 12/12/2014 21:40

I am completely CRAZY about the Jane Iredale BB cream. It is nice and glowy, and has a lot of coverage if you need it, or you can make it super sheer where you don't need it. If you need more moisture in winter, you use a spray to 'set' the minerals that has a bit more hydration in it. The colour range is quite good too (I'm quite fair). I've used nothing else since I found it. The Lisa Eldridge recommended CC cream from Bourjois is also good, but not as good as Jane Iredale.

CrazyOldBagLady · 12/12/2014 21:47

I bought some No. 7 last night for about a tenner. They have about three different shades and three different coverages. I got the medium skin, medium coverage and it seems quite nice on first go.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 24/12/2014 09:26

Wow I'm offline for a couple of weeks & the thread I started takes on a life of its own! Grin Loving all the suggestions.

Well I plumped for the Botanics bb cream. It's easy to apply & has a lovely sheen to it. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now & I can't imagine going anywhere without any on! I can really see the difference but am yet to receive any complements on my new improved complexion - the feckers!

The other one I liked a lot was the Elizabeth Arden bb cream. I wish they'd had some samples of that one so I could have tried it properly at home. Maybe I'll buy that one next time. Wink
