Which BB cream....

MummysLittleSunbeams · 09/12/2014 12:18

..... for a dewy & illuminated finish? I've never used one before. I've spent the last half an hour in Boots & now I'm more confused than I was before. Confused

High street brands preferably please.

I don't like the smell of the Botanics one, which is a shame as otherwise lovely. I like Olays BB cream but find it a little orange for me. Still looking for perfect one!

Marmaladybird · 10/12/2014 16:44

I've tried quite a few, the cheapest being Garnier and the most expensive YSL. I can't bear anything heavy on my face and the YSL is quite greasy. Garnier is better but Clinique CC cream is by far the best I've tried. Nice and dewy and definitely makes me look more alive.

Harrietsferrets · 10/12/2014 17:12

Avon also do a BB and a CC cream.

minipie · 10/12/2014 17:24

LoveVintage the Garnier one for oily/combination skin is matte.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/12/2014 17:26

Dr Jarts is brilliant but you can only get it in bigger Boots branches.

I was a bit underwhelmed with the Olay one - not much pigment in it.

Moogdroog · 10/12/2014 17:53

Right, as someone who's been out of the looking groomed business for far too long, could anyone give me a quick run through of what BB cream or CC cream is?

Is it used instead of foundation? I'm eeking out my No 7 intelligent colour foundation, and can't really afford to buy more and would appreciate a slightly cheaper alternative.

would you believe I was all Nars and Clinique pre dc?

Bunbaker · 10/12/2014 17:58

I was a massive fan of Intelligent Colour until I started using l'Oreal BB cream and I'm now a convert to the BB cream.

Moogdroog · 10/12/2014 18:20

Bunbaker - right, I might just follow your lead then.
Basically, I'm a SAHM and I don't often feel the need for full foundation, but I'd like to look a bit less like the undead. Sound like this might do the job.

Darkesteyes · 10/12/2014 18:20

Simple BB cream for me. I like the way it makes my skin look and its easy to apply.

nannynoss · 10/12/2014 18:27

How is everyone applying BB cream? Fingers? I use a brush because I can't seem to get it right with fingers, but I think I must be doing something wrong.

Bunbaker · 10/12/2014 18:32

I just use my fingers.

DarkBlueEyes · 10/12/2014 18:39

Thr Dior one in he peach coloured tube is the best one I've tried. Lovely.

MisAnneThropy · 10/12/2014 18:46

I like the Garnier one, not too dewy and not matte either. Feels lovely and fresh when applied too.

AngrySquirrel · 10/12/2014 18:47

I use this one www.sigmabeauty.com/F82_Round_Kabuki_p/f82.htm
Much better than with fingers.

BBs in my collection Hmm :

  1. Clinique BB
  2. Estee Lauder Clear Difference BB
  3. The body shop BB with tea tree
  4. Garnier BB
  5. Rodial BB.
supersupersupershock · 10/12/2014 19:31

I have tried to find Botanics BB cream on Boots website but can't find it. Anyone?

MAM48 · 10/12/2014 20:11

I have been wearing the Bobby Brown one in Medium for couple of years and love it.

aNoteToFollowSo · 10/12/2014 20:19

Another one here pleading to know the difference between BB and CC creams. Or even how they work.

Loulou000 · 10/12/2014 20:49

I do whatever Sali Hughes (guardian beauty journo) tells me :) and she tells me avoid bb creams. A tinted moisturizer is better, and Laura Mercier is often regarded as the best. I lurve it.

TheMightyMing · 10/12/2014 21:15

I use LOreal Nude Magique CC in anti dullness - it's quite brilliant. I hardly ever use my Clinique foundation these days. I am 44 , so no spring chicken either! The Garnier one was a bit orange on me- but to be fair I am a pale olive skin tone.

trinitybleu · 10/12/2014 21:20

I'm currently using Younique BB cream (which is quite dewy) with the mineral concealer over (as I prefer a matt finish) Wink

Dudess · 10/12/2014 22:28

Love the Boots No 7 BB cream - wear it all day and, with a little blusher (Benefit Dandelion [peach colour, for some reason]) - and I don't look as shattered as I feel!

About £12, plus Boots usually have offers.

Dudess · 10/12/2014 22:32

Think BB stands for Blooming...Brilliant.

CC - clever cream?

They basically airbrush your face, but you'll need to wear lippy, little eye shadow/mascara and blush (not forgetting T-zone area of nose and forehead) so that you don't look washed out.

FelineChristmassy · 10/12/2014 22:40

Blemish Balm and Colour Corrector?
I find BBs too rich (make me spotty) but the Bourjois CC is too drying.
This shouldn't be so hard....

wildfig · 11/12/2014 00:08

BB creams - Blemish Balms in their original Asian incarnation but 'repositioned' as Beauty Balms over here, I think - are supposed to have skincare properties, like sunscreen, moisturisers, blemish healing, etc.

CC creams - colour correcting - are more pigmented, so they have better coverage, and balance out redness/sallowness but are still lighter in coverage than a foundation.

Personally I found the Bobbi Brown BB cream the best (Avene too orange for me, Dr Jart a bit ashy, L'Oreal too orange), and I've only tried the Bourjois CC cream, but it's very good.

Bunbaker · 11/12/2014 06:45

"and she tells me avoid bb creams. A tinted moisturizer is better"

Did she say why?
