I am a big woman. I saw some leather leggings that looked amazing on a model but would look terrible on me.

I really like those Nordic sweaters but they look awful on. Similarly, gilets? Look like life vests and expose the bottom of my fat tummy.

Skinny jeans. I am too pear shaped and look awful in them.

Low cut tops - I have no boobs (unlike most of the posters on MN)

Shift dresses/straight dresses - I am too pear shaped to wear them. They end up being tight around my hips and way too loose at the top.

SofaCanary · 12/11/2014 19:37

Bare arms and legs. My limbs are long and quite toned but the patches of unsightly stubborn eczema behind my knees and elbows kills the look stone dead. I've given up trying to 'cure' it and just resort to keeping covered.

Boo fucking hoo Wine

KatherinaMinola · 12/11/2014 19:40

Yellow Sad

KatherinaMinola · 12/11/2014 19:42

Oh, and cocoon coats - I look like a chrysalis in them.

Floisme · 12/11/2014 19:52

I would definitely join you Garlic if only I had the legs still!

twobambinos · 12/11/2014 20:29

Crop top. I dream of running a race in a crop top. Sadly I don't think my stomach will ever be flat enough for it. Its not too bad most of the time but def not crop top material.

Twinklestein · 12/11/2014 20:34

I can still wear most tight, short things, whether it's a good idea is another question; but if I were really tall I'd love to wear men's style loose tweed trousers with brogues.

GarlicNovember · 12/11/2014 21:26

Like Lix Storm in The Hour, Twinkle? :)

High heels- I cannot walk in them without looking a toddler in mummy's shoes!
Polo neck jumpers- my norks are too large and I'm too hourglass.

Leather leggings. I'm just not brave enough!

hugoagogo · 13/11/2014 08:58

Short sleeved tops- my arms are terrible.
Also shorts they are so practical, but my legs are also terrible.
My Dr the other day had some gorgeous brocade trousers I would love to wear that sort of thing too.Sad

ShinyToyBuns · 13/11/2014 09:00

Gilets, I bought a stunning faux fur one last winter and I looked an absolute state in it, gave it away in the end.

Leather leggings - love them but I'm a size 12-14 with shapely legs and they just make me look even bigger than I am Sad

Luckily I have a stunningly beautiful size 8 younger sister who lives out all my fashion dreams for me Grin

CruCru · 13/11/2014 11:26

Thigh high boots. It just isn't going to happen.

Polo necks also look awful.

I would love to wear mustard colours :(
Love to wear shorts some woolly mid length shorts and tights..but im 47 and fear i am too old.
Apart from that...i wear everything else that i want.

CruCru · 13/11/2014 19:08

Oh yes, anything cream or oatmeal coloured - also pastels.

OP posts:
cheapskatemum · 13/11/2014 20:14

Yes, cream looks so stylish on some, but not me (HoC winter). Also would love to wear shift dresses and those boxy, textured jumpers that end at the hip. They look lovely in the catalogues with cigarette-leg trousers on slim hipped, long legged models, again, not on me. I need a defined waist as am a classic hourglass. Anything woolly also makes me itch, would that it didn't.

candykane25 · 13/11/2014 21:11

Drapey long flowing tops. I am short and big of nork so they make me look pregnant and in fancy dress. Big norks also stop me from wearing neat little blazers as they never sit right.

Marcipex · 13/11/2014 21:18

Leggings and a tunic, it looks so comfortable.

And Converse. I love how they look but they make my feet smell Blush

Bunbaker · 14/11/2014 07:39

I would have thought leggings and a tunic would suit all body shapes and sizes.

Athrawes · 14/11/2014 07:51

Jackets. Smart jackets that other people wear over shift dresses, or with jeans or to smarten up anything really. I just don't know how.
And skinny leather trousers with heeled biker boots and a strappy vest. Basically I'd like to dress like Lara Croft but am short fat and 44. I think my husband would like it too.

lurkingfromhome · 14/11/2014 08:10

Great thread! Bare legs for me - I see women all summer in little skirts, bare tanned legs and sandals and it looks so effortless. My legs are milk-bottle white and always bearing some sort of collection of blotchy insect bites, cat scratches, random bruises from walking into things. It's not the look I'm aiming for ...

noddyholder · 14/11/2014 13:25

A racer back silky vest with no bra am too busty and out if shape

50ShadesOfSummer · 14/11/2014 13:30

I'd wear jeans more if they suited me. I have found about two pairs in my entire life that I felt looked OK on me.

Ladyfoxglove · 14/11/2014 13:50

Strappy vests and little tops.

I have linebacker shoulders though so would look like a man in drag.

CruCru · 14/11/2014 14:00

I think I would dress like Emilia Fox in Silent Witness if I weren't short and dumpy.
