Pyjamas for children that don't go hard in the wash?

Every year I buy the 2 pack ones from Boden and they seem to go hard in the wash.

M&S don't seem to be very good quality. Any ideas?

I got nice ones recently in H&M.

Have you tried using a fabric softener?

Floellabenjamin · 08/11/2014 08:35

I agree. The boden ones are quite stiff. M and s are dreadful quality. I've been suggested primark but haven't tried.
Sorry not much help

We wash usually in delicate lotion and hang dry over a dehumidifier - standard for all our clothes, also put bicarb of soda in the wash. not hard here.

itsbetterthanabox · 08/11/2014 08:36

Just cotton instead of flannel

Artandco · 08/11/2014 08:36

The white company here

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 08/11/2014 08:36

Gap do really nice children's pyjamas but the sizes do come up small (my 3 yo wears size 5). They was really nicely and are lovely and soft.

She also has a reasonably nice pair from next.

SpuffySummers · 08/11/2014 08:37

Next. They've never gone cardboard-y.

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle · 08/11/2014 08:37

*wash really nicely

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 08/11/2014 08:37

I've found fleecy or brushed cotton ones from supermarkets are good, also Next.

EmilyGilmore · 08/11/2014 08:38

White company here too. They are quite lightweight but I love them.

BikeRunSki · 08/11/2014 08:41

H&m

I've had some great pjs from The White Company in the past, but stopped buying them last year when 2 pairs became unstitched after a few wears.

Hobbes8 · 08/11/2014 08:41

Gap ones are nice, but skinny fit and small. Primark are much thinner but don't go hard - they're fine for summer. Matalan do nice flannel ones that are cosy and don't go hard.

Chandon · 08/11/2014 08:45

White company ones here, for my boys with eczema.

Not cheap but super soft excellent quality, esp the stripy ones.

Nice thick soft cotton

Doublethecuddles · 08/11/2014 08:47

Fat Face, do fab pyjamas that don't go hard and are nice and cosy

Greengardenpixie · 08/11/2014 09:06

jersey ones from nexr. Asda jersey great snd great price. As jersey matalan. In out of wash fab quality. No idea on flannel ones.

ireallydontlikemonday · 08/11/2014 09:19

Primark flannel ones. We can't use conditioner and don't have a dryer and they're still nice and snugly. And £4 a pair.

Butwhereto · 08/11/2014 09:21

Hatley. I got them as hand me downs but the more you wash them the softer they get. They are the very fitted ones though. A cheaper version are the same style from H &M in organic cotton. Really soft even out of the tumble. White company jersey good too.

I know what you mean about the Boden ones.

ireallydontlikemonday · 08/11/2014 09:22

Sorry, just realised you're talking about adults and not kids!

fishfingersfortea · 08/11/2014 09:25

Another one for White Company. Only get them when there's a discount.

slippermaiden · 08/11/2014 09:27

Sainsburys long john style pyjamas or basically any t shirt material style pjs should solve that problem.

santamarianovella · 08/11/2014 09:42

White company and petit bateau, excellent quality

IvyMay · 08/11/2014 09:48

John lewis 2 pack pjs are great - lovely thick cotton t shirt material and wash really well.

applemac · 08/11/2014 10:02

Thanks for your suggestions. I always use fabric softener anyway. I used to buy white company years ago and found that they went hard too so perhaps they have changed?

Yes Hatley - good point. Dd had one pair from there for Christmas and as you say they went softer, not harder. They are so expensive though!

applemac, none of the WC pyjamas the dcs have ever went stiff, the only thing that happens to them is the prints start to fade after excessive washing, and that only happened to a couple of sets ,Dd loved and wore all the time,
