It was a healthy lunch, BTM, it provided one of our five a day. Unlike my dinner which has consisted of salami and Brie.

I had a £15 Boden voucher, which was about to expire. I am a bit tired of Johnny's patterns, and nothing really grabbed me, so I have ordered some socks, which were bargainous with the discount.

Glad it is the weekend. New team at work are pleased with me because I took on the woman who was making their lives hell, with her yelling (this is not BB; what is it about where I work that attracts loony women?) and told her to back off and be more professional. She apologised.

We have decided that we are going to have wine every Friday. Grin The woman who is my assistant asked the new man in the office if he drank alcohol. "Like a fish," he replied cheerfully. So we are going to have cake on Mondays and wine on Fridays to get us through the week. I think this is going to be OK, if we can control the micromanaging banshee.

QueenQueenie · 31/10/2014 22:08

I was just watching that on +1 CV as I read your post! Was she blonde with sunglasses, somewhat smaller and rounder than blonde woman, someone else entirely?! Brilliant. Made me laugh.

So was it just a cake scoffing meet up BTM and Mrs S? Did you not purchase anything s and b related to show us all?

CointreauVersial · 31/10/2014 22:29

Shortish blonde hair, tanned, looks about 50

I knew she had attended the filming of Antiques Roadshow in the summer, and I was just saying to DH "wouldn't it be funny if DM suddenly popped up behind that painting?" when she did. Hence my wine spitting. I might have to actually watch the whole episode on catch up now.

cremolafoam · 31/10/2014 22:55

Rudy what kind of purple?do tell!

I am back from Halloween party at dsis and Bils . It was hilarious. Dad was in great form, and lasted a couple of hours before nodding off on the sofa. When asked if he'd like a glass of water he replied
" no thank you I had one last year" and swigged more Sancerre. He's SO happy to be out of the hospital.
Dh and I looked tremendous in costume, although I wouldn't recommend driving in a Cleopatra headdress . We also were terrified of breaking down , as one is, when in fancy dress.
Cv that is bizarre seeing your mum on the telly!
Glad everyone had a pleasing day today.
Xx

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2014 23:04

Result, MrsS!

CV I am going to rewind to see her! After Paloma on Chatty Man.

I bought some silver earrings with a JL gift voucher. And stuff from Boots. I was mainly there for the cake to browse the bags in Selfridges (thinking to spend my vouchers in the salesWink)

bigTillyMint · 31/10/2014 23:11

CV is she the glam looking one or the one in sunglasses?

Stropperella · 31/10/2014 23:15

The party here seemed to go off very well: 9 boys, plus 5 sets of parents (including us) and dd plus 2 of her friends. A vast amount of food was demolished, my nephews weren't any worse behaved than anyone else and db only told moderately embarrassing stories about our past. Thank god for the unseasonably warm and dry weather, as the boys spent about 2 hours charging around the garden in the dark shouting a lot and playing some game involving throwing things and rolling in mud. They all said it was a very good party. Grin Db was miffed because someone asked him if he was my older brother Grin - he is 3 and a half yrs younger.

CointreauVersial · 31/10/2014 23:26

No sunglasses.

:) at glam mother on TV.

Glad to hear Crem's DDad feeling better and MI's DM got through first lot of chemo okay so far.

MrsS how are you healing up after your surgery?

We've had lovely little holiday. I was late joining, because of choir recording and chest infection but I've enjoyed it a lot. Homely cottage; country walks with DDog; two plays at Stratford and a day walking in the Malvern Hills, followed by brilliant fireworks at the nearest stately home.

My cooking and baking was appreciated and we all carved pumpkins. DD and friend have got on well all week, talking non-stop and having huge laughs, especially playing silly games like charades - DD's always tickled to see us make fools of ourselves.

Biggest surprise is how much Mum enjoyed it. She's appreciated everything & especially loved the plays, despite her deafness. Can't remember when I've seen her laugh so much. She does know the plays well, so can fill in a lot of what she can't hear. She loved the fireworks too.

Enjoy what's left of half term, everyone.

beachyhead · 01/11/2014 00:36

So glad to hear your ddad is enjoying his time in the real world again, Crem and hope Mrs MI is feeling ok.

Just returned from a six teenage pick up from a local party. Feeling very virtuous taxiing them around the area. Smile dh is downstairs alone watching the Poltergeist. Might nip down and Woo him in a minute.

bigTillyMint · 01/11/2014 07:14

Well I thought it would be the glam one, given her past in fashion. And a DD on the S&B threadWink!

Well done Stropps! You're on a roll now - parties as well as new course, volunteer reading and your old job too!

Auriga, sounds like you and your family have had a great half-term.
And Beachy, you are virtuous - ferrying at midnight.

Rosebag · 01/11/2014 07:19

All your parties sound amazing! Crem lovely to hear your DDad is being somewhat of a party animal too!
Chuckling at CV's wine spitting on seeing DM on Gogglebox… Grin
Auriga Glad you are better….were you able to sing?
I am up at this ungodly hour as working…in London today thank goodness. Some where near Marble Arch. I have no idea if DD enjoyed her party as went to bed early and left DH to deal with it all…as I am today. The DC have a six hour dress run the theatre. I am worried that…

  1. DH will not have checked that DD got all that green face paint off before they go
  2. DH will not see that they get their quota of homework done beforehand
  3. That he will give them something inappropriate and smelly in their packed lunch…like salt beef
  4. That they will forget their costumes, supposedly meant to be in a named bag….
  5. That he will forget DDs meds And so the list goes on. AAAAAaaargh
Blackduck · 01/11/2014 07:42

Dp and I had a fabulous meal, but both were flagging by the second pudding (which was better than the first - had I known I'd have passed on the first one). We both look dreadful, I think the burning the candle in his case and the stress in mine has taken its toll - think bags the size of portmanteaus.....

Dp goes to get Ds today - I have declined to accompany him, but will shop, Hoover, tidy, cook and then an early night all round.

All the parties sound fab and I suspect we missed a humdinger at our local....

bigTillyMint · 01/11/2014 07:46

BD, the meal sounds great - two (II) puddings?!

Rose, that sounds about par for the course where DH's are concerned!

Blackduck · 01/11/2014 08:13

8 course tasting menu BTM.......

herbaceous · 01/11/2014 09:18

I'm going to Sainsbury's this morning! I wonder what garment I can sneak in the trolley.

NUFC69 · 01/11/2014 10:19

Herbs, DSis buys all sorts of clothes in Sainsbury's and I am often quite Envy when I see them. We just have a Local and even the "big" shops only have a few things.

I am waiting for DH to come home from badminton and then we'll be off at 11.30 to get to the match which starts at 12.45 - I hate early KOs.

We had no T or Ts for the second year running so I will have to find something to do with the sweets (not surprising really as no children round about). DSoniL has sent me some wonderful photos, particularly of DGD2, with a green face, dressed as a witch. Grin

herbaceous · 01/11/2014 10:32

Most of my wardrobe comes from Sainsbury's, and often garners compliments. Well, until DP decided we should do online shopping more often, thus scuppering my chances.

beachyhead · 01/11/2014 10:36

Wow, 8 courses. Sounds amazing...I must organise a date night soon. Last night we had no children in at all but I was so tired, I went to bed at 10pm, set the alarm for 1130pm to collect and distribute teenagers and then went back to bed about 1am.

cremolafoam · 01/11/2014 11:11

Auriga that sounds like a really lovely break, and well deserved.

Beachy bloody hell you're a saint for all that running around. I have to admit to having a shirt lie down yesterday afternoon. I completely passed out for 2 hours , I was so exhausted. These painkillers for my leg make me feel like I'm swimming in custard.Confused
Ddad ( dressed as Caesar ) is tired today after all that excitement, needless to say.Smile

BD well done for surviving 8(eight VIII) courses. I struggle with two these days, and have given up ordering starters.

Herbs- I'll be doing the same run to Sainsbury today and will be browsing clothing too. I'll compare notes with you later.Grin
