Has anyone ditched face powder?

I use Maybelline bb cream as a moisturiser/foundation, with powder on top. At the weekends when slobbing at home I skip the powder and am thinking my skin actually looks better. Does anyone else skip powder? I have pretty clear skin, but a few wrinkles and open pores, and an annoyingly shiny nose (which powder doesn't even cover for long).

I am not a young un and it looks awful on me Tinted moisturiser and a bit of bb cream mixed works for me.

I am 49 and still have glowy skin but I do moisturise and care for it like s demon

I think you should ditch the pressed powder, loose is really what you need over foundation. (I do use the les beiges Chanel pressed powder but it's very, very sheer.) finely milled in an invisible shade.

Btw,mI'm 42 and someone said I could pass for 29 the other day, that's with powder and all, it must be doing me some good I reckon!

Interested. The only primer I ever tried cakes my make up so much I gave up. I've been loathe to chuck away money since.

I wear powder every day. I think it looks fine but u wouldn't mind ditching it.

Yes I have OP ! Well mostly !

In the summer I used the finest amount of the bronzer by Guerlian on my face - extra light shade can't remember what it's called and if I need any the rest of the time I use Chanel Les BEige which I really love,

I wear less make now I'm nearly 50 than in my 20s. Partly because less time now I have DS etc but mostly because my skin has improved vastly. I put this down to getting better at looking after it !, hormones and better use of products. I'm using a Chanel serum at moment which was a gift and have also been impressed with the Ren serum I am using too.

For the person that mentioned oily eyelids - I have these too except that a recommendation on here lead me to Urban Decay lid primer and that really works for me.

What I haven't yet sorted is a mascara that can last all day/night on me without eventually giving me panda eyes and I have tried a lot !!!!

BB cream really does not require powder unless you go mega shiny - and even then blotting may be just as useful.

I've switched to compact foundation but I never use loose powder.

FrustratedFrugal · 23/11/2016 19:52

Bealola tubing mascara might be the answer!

madmomma · 23/11/2016 20:19

Yes and it's a revelation! I use primer, then the foundation/bb/tinted moisturiser, then a setting spray

madmomma · 23/11/2016 20:21

bealola have you tried Mac fix + spray over your eyemakeup? I use it before and after and it's eradicated panda eyes for me.

Yes, I ditched mine a couple of months ago. I used to think it was the most important factor in looking decent, but suddenly decided it was just making my skin look dull and drained and caked, so I stopped using it. I find it better now to put foundation on in the morning, and top up with BB if I need to.
I do use Bobbi Brown highlighting powder in the evening, and that is fab. It creates a subtle, shimmery glow rather than mattifying. I'd link to it but my iPad won't let me, for some reason.
