I need a lovely leather biker jacket for my mid-life crisis. Please help.

That's it really. I want to wear doc martens and a leather jacket (and probably some other clothes too, I wouldn't want to shock the neighbours). There are no decent shops nearby, so online it will have to be. I have quite long arms and find lots of jackets can be a bit short on me. I'm 5' 9" so it would have to be on the longer side as I don't want to be showing midriff.

Soft leather would be nice too (so not a real biker jacket afterall).

Please help!

I have an Oasis one and a new Mint Velvet one - both are gorgeous.

ThisBitchIsResting · 08/10/2014 20:21

River Island leather bikers are gorgeous, really soft leather and classic shapes. I have a black one and wish I could justify the oxblood one they have this season. Only £100 which I think is fantastic value, I compared to a Whistles one and it was nicer leather and shape .

The mint velvet one is lovely, and looks a bit longer on the body. Also a bargain.

I'm going to end up with too many to choose from!

I nearly bought the Mint Velvet one too. I tried a Mango one but I wasn't keen on the colour or fit.

They also do it in a very dark brown.

I have this one too which I always get loads of compliments on, but I got mine from Very.co.uk for half the Superdry price.

I bought a gorgeous one from Mint Velvet with fur inside the lapels. Adore it. Very soft leather. I'm old enough to know better, but to hell with it.

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 08/10/2014 21:43

I like this one, it's nice soft leather too www.fatface.com/jackets/aira-leather-biker-jacket/invt/81916 I prefer the brown

There's also this one www.fatface.com/jackets/lodore-asymmetric-leather-biker-jacket/invt/81915

I'm not a big fan of bikers though, but I do like the first one.

The mint velvet one is nice too

op I am a size 12 and ordered a 12 & 14 so I could try them both. The 14 was way too big and the 12 fit me perfectly. It is quite 'fitted' but not so much that I can't fit a jumper under it in the cold weather!

So IMO they don't seem to be cut small, anyway.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 09/10/2014 08:44

The first fatface one, and the first superdry one, are both lovely.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order them all to see which is best :o I may have to remortgage to cover it!

I so wish we had decent shops!

I got a Muubaa one in the sales last year - it's amazingly soft.

Massimo Dutti also have a lovely selection and are also very soft. I'm small so not sure about arm length I'm afraid.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 09/10/2014 10:04

This one is lovely

You sound exactly like me: 39 with a DM and leather biker addiction. I have just bought the latter from eBay - hope the 16 fits over my 36Fs!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 10/10/2014 19:00

:o

I wore eyeliner yesterday too

I'm going eyeliner crazy too and thanks to MN recommendations the MUA £1 kohl pencils are soft, blendable and flipping amazing.

SofaCanary · 11/10/2014 16:18

Are you lining the top or bottom, or both?

I'm good with the top, can do flicks and everything but I usually leave the bottom completely naked cause I don't know what the hell I'm doing there.

gerbiltamer · 11/10/2014 16:27

Both at the moment, but was watching Lisa Eldridge on YouTube demonstrating lining the water line (eek!) I tend to use MUA undressed palette and then line around and smudge. I have tried flicks with the free felt liner my friend got free from Glamour: it's OK so far, but I wouldn't she'll out ££s.

gerbiltamer · 11/10/2014 16:28

Back to biker jackets, cannot wait for my River Island biker to arrive now...

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 11/10/2014 16:45

Eyeliner recommendations too! Marvellous!

I usually go for too and bottom, a nice dark brown is much more subtle and easier to blend I find.

I have ordered the Muubaa. I'm hoping it is lovely. If not there are plenty of other options. This thread has given me too much choice :o

Another eyeliner fan here. Urban Decay are the best but I need cheaper alternatives. :)

SofaCanary · 11/10/2014 16:53

Thanks for the tips, I shall have a practice.

Gawd, the streets are going to be awash with geriatric rock chicks Grin

Oh no! I ordered the Muubaa one, failing to take into account that it has stupid suede shoulders.

The jacket is lovely soft leather, it smells amazing, fits perfectly, but one snotty child and it will be ruined.

Why do I never look at things closely enough?! Trying to decide whether to keep it anyway or send it back and lose the postage.

Dh says I should buy one of the cheaper ones and keep this one for going out. I love dh.

Great prices for Muubaa jackets at their sample sale on ebay Between £109 - £150. I just bought one, gorgeous, absolute bargain.

Twinklestein · 14/10/2014 13:45

There are also other business sellers who do brand new Muubaa leather jackets on ebay - so you can return them if they don't fit.

Ted Baker also does lovely soft leather jackets. House of Fraser has a good selection of theirs.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/10/2014 13:47

Oh wow! Either way I'm sending mine back and buying one of them. The cut and leather are gorgeous. Stupid shoulders!!
