If you are a 'summer', can you wear green

And if so, what shade?

I haven't had my colours done professionally, so not sure which summer I am (maybe cool?). My favourite colours to wear are magenta and navy blue. I don't like myself in any pale colours, would never wear cream, white, camel, beige or greige. I just thought that perhaps I ought to look more at green, I like some greens, and I have green eyes.

For example, this in Persian Green?

Yes, I think you can.

I'm a cool summer and wear lots of green. I love emerald & grass green, and also wear teal shades, like the colour in your link, which is lovely.

Thanks for the reply DramaAlpaca. I doubt myself as I then don't know what to put it with! What colours would you put with it in an outfit?

Any green that does not have yellow tones is fine if you have cool colouring, so not lime or olive green for example.

DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2014 22:16

Oh dear, I'm not the best person to ask about putting together outfits, I live in jeans and rarely venture into S&B as I don't think anyone would call me stylish Blush, but I do know what colours suit me.

If it's any help, I like teal with navy or grey. And with my jeans Grin

I agree with Hebburn about not wearing green with yellow tones. Lime and olive make me look ill.

321zerobaby · 17/09/2014 22:31

I hate olive green, and would never wear bottle green (old school uniform!)

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 17/09/2014 22:34

I won't wear bottle green either, for exactly the same reason.

EdithDickie · 17/09/2014 22:42

I'm a summer (cool I think) and wear green a lot. I like teal, grass green, emerald green etc. Basically jewel colours I think. Nothing sludgey (eg olive, khaki etc) or too dark (eg bottle green, British racing green).

321zerobaby · 17/09/2014 22:51

Would you wear 2 shades of green at the same time EdithDickie?

In regards to that cardigan I linked to, what would I wear it with? If I was wearing a navy dress, I know I would always lean towards magenta. Maybe with a denim skirt, but then what colour top to go with it? Sorry, I am normally sure of my own style, just trying to get out of my comfort zone! I am an hourglass, don't do very casual as I look scruffy, so generally wear smart or smart/casual.

Grey, navy, denim blues.

Teal also goes with shocking pink, coral and magenta, so a pink top under the cardigan.

Hebburnisaplaceonearth · 17/09/2014 23:15

I love this combination.
There are loads of combinations to look at here

Casmama · 18/09/2014 00:30

You may find this useful.

EdithDickie · 18/09/2014 05:44

I wouldn't wear 2 shades at once. Not sure I could pull it off as I am only just getting into more colours as it is! I tend to wear dresses a lot too because then I don't have to worry about what "goes" together - sorry, not much help!

321zerobaby · 18/09/2014 08:22

Thanks all of you. Thinking about what I wear, I guess it may be more block colours, then a bit of a pattern in a scarf, so a scarf that had green it, and navy perhaps, would pull it together for me. Or a long pendant necklace (see my other post about can large norks wear long necklaces! Haven't found one yet, probably because I haven't been to the shops). I don't think any of my dresses have green in them (dresses usually from Pepperberry or Boden) but I like the combination with a denim skirt.

Who knew green and grey could look good together? I never really like myself in any grey, but think this looks fab together.

The green and grey looks lovely together!

I also wanted to say I have a jade green dress that I think is a good colour on me.

I have bought a dress from Boden, and looking at the colours from Kettlewell that Casmama linked to, its somewhere between petrol and kingfisher.

What colour cardigan would you put with it? Is Pewter a summer colour?

Go this colour business is difficult! So the kingfisher/ petrol listed as a summer colour on the Kettlewell website is not a summer colour but an Autumn colour? Perhaps I'll just stick to my pinks and blues after all.
