Just that really! She has lovely taste. Jewellery wise likes silver not gold. Handbag is the other thought, she wears a lot of black/grey/burgundy.

Any inspiration much appreciated, have gone through net-a-porter already.

TIA.

why don't you go to paris on Eurostar for lunch instead?

I think as you get older, if you want stuff you just buy it yourself

crossandcrosser · 18/09/2014 17:26

That's so true lordn. Lunch in Paris would be heavenly and you could enjoy it together.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 17:27

Would she like a Carat cocktail ring?

AmberNectarine · 18/09/2014 17:29

I really like the Rivale bracelets or this Tiffany cuff - I'm not a huge Tiffany fan in the main but I love this.

For that price you could get a lovely pair of investment shoes - Manolos or Choos for example, but I concede shoes trickier than accessories.

Astley Clarke have some lovely delicate pieces like this as does Dinny Hall.

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 17:30

the other stuff, its just STUFF, anyone who has a mate who is suddenly ill realises that its the experiences that count

SquidgyMummy · 18/09/2014 17:35

I have obviously wandered onto the wealthy corner of mumsnet, but £450 on a present for a friend .

For that money I would want a tree or something for my garden and some money to sponsor a child on my behalf, not some trinket which has been marked up by 80%

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 17:37

i agree its a lot. I wonder why that is the budget

Take her go go ape..
goape.co.uk/

then see if she is till your mate

Wink
MilkThistle187 · 18/09/2014 17:37

I love stuff, but I think a lunch in Paris wins hands down

SquidgyMummy · 18/09/2014 17:41

Tree

Child

Hopefully by the age of 50 your friend will appreciate investing in the future, not in shoes

Discobugsacha · 18/09/2014 17:41

I would buy her shoes or boots. You should have a bit if choice for £450 and they're easier to buy than clothes as you'll know what style she likes.

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 17:42

Shoes is an odd present from a mate, non?

Stewedcoot · 18/09/2014 17:44

Liberty of London have an interesting selection of scarves/bags and if all else fails they have lovely coins/gift/spa vouchers

here

SwedishEdith · 18/09/2014 17:45

Agree that trip to Paris for lunch would be waaaaay better than stuff.

crossandcrosser · 18/09/2014 17:47

Anybody else feeling excited about the thought that one of our friends might take up to Paris for lunch one day?

polyhymnia · 18/09/2014 17:51

Another vote for Paris trip here.

TranmereRover · 18/09/2014 17:55

oh my god, Paris for lunch and the lingerie shops... they do scraps of satin and lace in a way that we don't and it's a nice statement for 50 - still got it etc etc

TranmereRover · 18/09/2014 17:56

(that said you could blow the entire budget on one chemise from eg sabbia rosa)

SwedishEdith · 18/09/2014 17:58

Have 9 friends clubbed together with £50 each? It's such an odd specific number.

polyhymnia · 18/09/2014 18:05

Ah, Sabbia Rosa - lovely .

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 18:06

you should get Bonsoir on the case, she is an ol ponce and will send you to all the swanky places Grin

PenisesAreNotPink · 18/09/2014 18:09

I would get something like antique jewellery - Art Deco perhaps ?

You could get something pretty nice for that

Bonsoir · 18/09/2014 18:12

Bags are the go to present among my friends! There are so many gorgeous ones and you can't have enough pretty clutches.

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 18:14

you can. I have got masses now and was tempted with one recently and just recapped the ZILLIONS unused I have

TheBeanAndTheBee · 18/09/2014 18:34

Thank you all. The 450 is split 3 ways with me and two other friends, hope that clarifies the money Hmm

We're already doing a surprise dinner with friends at a fab restaurant plus a night at a hotel and I've booked us in at her hairdressers in the afternoon for a pre-evening out pamper. We'd like a lovely gift to hand over to her at dinner, as she is always spoiling us with lovely gifts.

Paris etc, although lovely is not possible for me at the moment (small children/my location), so I'm definitely after a "thing", although possibly might swerve on QueenofThorns suggestion!

Some lovely thoughts above though, thank you Flowers will be online shopping tonight!

If you were buying that present for me I hope someone would suggest some Brora cashmere and an Equipment silk shirt Smile
