Just that really! She has lovely taste. Jewellery wise likes silver not gold. Handbag is the other thought, she wears a lot of black/grey/burgundy.

Any inspiration much appreciated, have gone through net-a-porter already.

TIA.

Mystery could you link to the artist?

Coach borough bag is very lovely and around that price.

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 07:23

i would like a nice plain black clutch bag
your budget is big - my Alex Monroe leaf necklace always gets comps - thats just over 100

lordnoobson · 18/09/2014 07:23

or tbh a frivolous say, silver clutch - that clashes so much that it doesnt matter

BeaLola · 18/09/2014 08:12

I agree re a piece of art/sculpture. If she has children You could get a cast of their hands ?

TheBeanAndTheBee · 18/09/2014 09:38

Thanks for all of the suggestions, just clicked through all of them and nothing is quite ticking the box yet sorry!! She's quite hard to buy for...

Want to get her one big "thing" really this year and diptyque candles/cashmere wraps are things I've done before. We're already going out for dinner, and staying over in a hotel etc.

Art/sculpture, lovely idea but I'd think I'd struggle to get something her and her husband would both like (as they'd both have to live with it!) She doesn't have kids. (hence being super stylish, with disposable income!)

I really do appreciate all your suggestions, please if you have any more let me know.

I don't know how much it actually costs but could you but her a voucher to get a bespoke fragrance made by someone like Lyn Harris (Miller Harris)?

MissMilbanke · 18/09/2014 09:57

night away for her and her dh in a lovely exclusive hotel ?

fresh flowers delivered for a month ?

expensive pen ? mont blanc - dh bought himself a iPhone cover from them and has had lots of comments.

mulberry scarf ?

sunglasses - but quite difficult as so personal

slug · 18/09/2014 10:21

A membership to the Tate perhaps? I got one for DH's 40th birthday and it was the best present ever, we've renewed it every year. We get free entry to all the exhibitions, use of the members room and invitations to private views.

If she is in London you could also consider the Royal Academy, The British Museum or the Southbank for memberships. Or a combination of these.

WEEBITHILLANDGLEN · 18/09/2014 11:21

She seems to have everything.. Maybe a bench? > runs

crossandcrosser · 18/09/2014 11:45

Struggling to link, but how about a silver Tiffany bracelet? There are some gorgeous ones and a little blue box would be so exciting.

TheBeanAndTheBee · 18/09/2014 12:02

a bench :)

weebithillandglen you are completely correct. Hence asking the collective wisdom of mumsnet!!

have left miller harris a message to find out about the bespoke perfume cost - but in an ideal world would like to buy "a thing" - nice idea though, might fall back on that one if it's affordable.

crossandcrosser she has a tiffany necklace coming from work colleagues already..…

amber the hermes idea was inspired but can't find anything that's quite right and within budget. You were definitely on the right lines though, do you have any other thoughts? Please?

Aaaaaargh!!! You would have thought the large budget would HELP!

I bought a friend a cashmere robe for a special birthday. It was expensive and is still being worn many years on.

fanjobiscuits · 18/09/2014 14:01

Would she wear proper pearl earrings, or a particular gemstone?

Top end shoes?

Madamecastafiore · 18/09/2014 14:02

mulberry do quite nice scarves that are ideal as a special birthday present.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 14:03

I was thinking exactly the same thing about the budget Bean!

I do like the idea of a cashmere robe, I had a White Company one for years and eventually wore it out. I have drooled over CashCA ones which are closer to budget - I think the likes of Harvey Nics/Selfridges/Harrods stock them.

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/09/2014 14:13

Yves Saint Laurent are doing some beautiful cashmere scarves around that price point.

I have a lovely Smythson purse - maybe travel document holder or jewellery case/wrap thing if they do a lot of travelling.

I also like the Anya Hindmarch bespoke stuff which you can have monogrammed.

Nice make up bag - again Anya or mulberry?

MrsCampbellBlack · 18/09/2014 14:17

Or a cashmere blanket - I'd love one of those from Brora and would never buy one myself.

polyhymnia · 18/09/2014 14:29

Some great ideas here. Just to say not Tiffany's - really think they aren't very stylish if they ever were, though still very expensive. Their London shop is a bit theme parky IMO.

cantthinkofanewnameatall · 18/09/2014 14:47

Agree about Tiffany. Bit of a cliche these days.

Awks · 18/09/2014 14:56

Gorgeous ring made the years he was born here

UML · 18/09/2014 15:39

Have you considered liberty?

Jewellery and scarves?

Alexander mc queen, etc.

UML · 18/09/2014 15:42

Antique jewellery? Maybe u could get vintage Hermes even that comes in budget...

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 18/09/2014 16:07

Under budget but you could get a nice washbag too
Brics Holdall

Apatite1 · 18/09/2014 17:11

So many lovely ideas. I'd personally love another piece of Rimowa luggage in the same range I have. That's probably really boring though!

I vote cashmere robe, hoodie or wrap!

QueenOfThorns · 18/09/2014 17:15

You get her this, obviously. I can't believe you didn't think of it already Grin
