My Mother says I look ghastly in Clarks heeled brogues - return or keep?

I bought these Clarks heeled brogues in oxblood.

They're very comfy but I haven't worn them yet so I can still return them!

My mum saw them on me and was horrified, said I they make me look short and fat (which I am, but obviously try to choose clothes that make me look my best!).

Return or keep?

8cm is only about 3" in old money, that's okish everyday height for me too.

I have the same shoes as bunny. Think they are dotty p's from last year. I love them and wear them with shortish black dresses mostly
I don't see how they can make you look short when they have quite a sizeable heel on them. I think I would listen to my mum if she said I looked shit in something though, she's the only one who would dare tell me!!

I own a pair of those in black and like them. I have wide feet so am restricted in what I can get. They look good with work trousers, not sure would wear skirts or dresses.
