What is this winter's style of scarf going to be?

My first S&B thread!

Every winter, I roll out the same scarf which i love, but it's starting to look a bit tatty. Plus it doesn't suit the amazing coat I found in the January sales.

My coat is dark-bottle green military style, four buttons, slightly bell-shaped skirt to just above knee-length (will post pic if I can get on the laptop), it also has a high button up the neck.

I suppose technically it doesn't need a scarf, but I'm a cold-necked wuss Grin

So, will this season's scarves suit? Or what would suit that style coat? I'd also like to start making one for myself before winter hits.

I have zero style and am clueless, also no time to trawl pinterest. So I immediately thought of MN Smile

Any ideas gratefully received.

If you are going to make your scarf yourself then just go for whatever you like best.

Oh are you planning to make one? Knitted or sewn from fabric?

Useful tip there JapaneseMargaret hadn't thought of that Hmm

I can't knit ThiBitchIsResting although I have tried intermittently all my life!

Wtf? Posted all by itself!

I can sew very well, so thought I'd cobble together something. I made DS a lovely fleece scarf last year, very elegant: lime green, brown bits with orange ribbon. Sounds weird, looks amazing Grin

Oh, and I'm in the Med. Winter stuff isn't in the shops yet!

Apologies - I missed in your OP that you were planning to make it yourself.

It's just that the choice between rolling the same one out over and over OR having a cold neck, is anathaema to me - scarves are sooooo readily available, that it's impossible not to have a massive selection to choose from so that neither of those eventualities happens!
