Aging very fast

SureFootedWhispher · 20/08/2014 19:24

I have always looked about 10 years younger than my age but all of a sudden at 36 something happened.

My forehead is very lined, crinkley and dry looking and looks older than 36.

My hair now plaits into a plait the thickness of barely two fingers. And it's apperance and texture has changed.

My hands look very dry and old.

What can I do? It's like i've aged years within 6 months.

How old are your DC? Mine were small and I was knackered. Thin hair sounds hormonal or poor diet.
I looked and felt ancient at 36 and feel and look better at 50.
More sleep, more time for myself and a better diet and time to exercise ,use high spf daily .

I aged that N K has a weird look going on-puffy and stretched
Google her sister -she looks lovely.

I found the same when I turned 36,thankfully it all slowed down again when I hit 38 so it might not last for you as well.

I make sure I use moisturiser now in the winter.I consider myself very lucky though never bothered with any kind of skin routine till I hit my later 30's.Still look younger than I am(unless I'm having a really bad health day)so I consider myself lucky now days.

With your hair thinning, the are lots of products now that claim to make your hair thicker and they pretty much all come with a money back guarantee now so you wouldn't loose out money wise if they didn't work.

MeganChips please can you post the name of the eBay seller? Retin A is a bit scary on eBay and I would feel so such better with a seller recommendation.

How do I use this Retin A stuff? I did read the massive "sizzling" thread a while ago but it was scary and overwhelming.

Any advice for a Retin A newbie?

I know how I have aged! Running! Been running for 4 yrs and me face is dryer, eczema flares up, wrinkles. I also don't drink enough water. I have foud that a drop or argan oil on my face at night helps with the drying.

But id like something more suitable for the face rather than the hair!

DD is 2.7 DSS with us are 18 &20. Gets very stressful at times! And I knackered.

Looking at Imedeen. Can a pill really work? Seems a crazy price!

Tweeking my diet slightly and currently gobbling hazelnuts. And for some reason I want to drink olive oil with vinegar.

Retin A is absolutely brilliant. Ive been using it for the last 6 months.it is a real 'journey' however and you have to be prepared for your skin to peel and look like shit for a couple of months before it comes out the other side but its well worth it as my skin looksso much smoother and brighter. Sorry to thread jack but had anyone graduated to 0.1?

Glycolic peels are also excellent.

I'd also recommend eating low carb and doing weight training. Both are brilliant for skin, energy and looking leaner.

Normal ageing is a gradual process. If it's happening very quickly something else is going on. You need to have thyroid problems and premature menopause ruled out PDQ.

I do low carbing and agree that it helps your skin.

I thought it had to be prescription only? Although obviously your doctor is not just going to write you a prescription for it because you want him to! Or is that retinol? not even sure what the difference is. Confused

Google makes it sound scary. It is the cream I am thinking of?

You can't buy Retin A over the counter but some people get it on E-bay. Personally I wouldn't touch the stuff - it's prescription only for a reason and it can really upset your skin. Personally I'd rather have wrinkles. Retinol is a kind of distant cousin.

I get my retin a from a Thai seller on ebay. It sounds dodgy but has been fine. The make is Johnson and Johnson. It arrives sealed with best before date. Pm me if you want me to look up the name of the seller as I can't remember offhand.

With regards to it being scary: I consulted my friend who is a dermatologist about retin a before buying. She said it was brilliant stuff but you have to be extremely careful how you administer it. Start on a v low dose, twice a week. Put it in half an hour after you wash your face. Moisturise like mad and the most important thing: you must absolutely wear sunblock even in winter. It's potent stuff and you have to be really careful but it's definitely worth it. My skin is used to it now.

It's not nearly as powerful as Retin A and most products have it in such tiny amounts that I very much doubt it makes any difference. But then I am the biggest sceptic going when it comes to anti ageing creams.

I've got awful hair, I've found Pantene age defy surprisingly good, and my skin's improved a bit since I started taking fish oils. Glycolic makes my skin a lot better but I've definitely got more facial moles now too so agree good suncreen essential. Rest is what I can't get enough of!
