Would you wear a cross necklace as a fashion item?

So I really like cross pendants but am not an enthusiastic church goer.

If I wear a cross pendant will people automatically assume that I am a religious person hope not?

My first proppa boyfriend gave me a (tiny) sapphire ring. I used to sneakily move it to the 3rd finger of my left hand to make his ex jealous and into thinking we were engaged. I was 16, in my defence Grin

I still have the ring, 30+ years later....

gertie - on, no. Sad Garnets are so pretty.

fair - your grandmother sounds amazing! Grin

I will admit, I never got into diamonds, so doubtless that is why I like garnets. I know diamonds are classy and elegant ... but I'm with Anne Shirley. They're pretty darn disappointing in terms of colour!

Christianity doesn't own the cross, it was used as a religious symbol for thousands of years before that.

OhMyArsingGodInABox · 19/08/2014 21:37

Also, apparently Christ would have been crucified on a t bar rather than a cross shape.

The church adopted it as a symbol because it was already universally recognised. Celtic crosses, Egyptian ankhs etc.

Aw, AF that's lovely.

I still have the 'engagement' ring my boyfriend got me when we were 18. We also used it to annoy people - his parents, mainly. Grin

Oh dear. When I notice someone always wearings a cross I assume it means they feel strongly enough about their faith to want anyone meeting them to know. Not in an evangelical sense, just as an important marker of self. Certainly if it's a relatively small one or not much other jewelery is being worn. I'd never thought that that was an odd assumption to make Shock

I'm not talking about costume jewelery, celtic crosses or stylized crosses, just yer simple cross.

AnyFucker I'd assume your cross meant you were christian and I'd think the tattoo girl was probably making a statement about her faith too. Not that it matters to me what somebodies faith is or if they choose to inadvertently confuse me with their jewelery.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 19/08/2014 21:59

peasandlove · 20/08/2014 10:15

I have and would. I like crosses but I'm not religious. I have considered wearing my crucifix from the Vatican as a fashion item but was worried that was going too far.
