Pandora bracelets - overdone?

sunchild77 · 14/08/2014 12:01

Help me..
Got some birthday money burning a whole in my pocket, and I can't decide whether the charm bracelet thing is a bit overdone or not. Appreciate your thoughts :D

Horribly so.

But if you like them, go for it. Just be aware they are very pricey for what they are!

JennyOnTheBlocks · 14/08/2014 12:31

i bought one for myself last month with birthday cash, i love it

they are pricey but it feels lovely, good quality

OneLittleLady · 14/08/2014 12:32

I don't like them and wouldn't choose to wear one ( i'd wear one though if I was bought one as a gift) but both my sisters really loves theirs. one doesn't wear a lot of beads all at the same time but has a small selection that she chooses from and the other tends to wear quite a few beads at once. They both love them so much they have requested more beads/charms for birthdays and christmas this year

ShelaghTurner · 14/08/2014 12:33

I love mine and don't give a toss what other people think. But then I'm hardly a dedicated follower of fashion :)

MrsMeow · 14/08/2014 12:37

I don't like the original ones that are full of beads and charms, but the DC bought me a lovely plain leather wraparound one for mothers day that I love and wear all the time. I have just the one charm on it and won't be adding more as I like the simpleness of just the one. If you want one, go for it :) Or you could try something like Thomas Sabo, which aren't quite as popular.

trikken · 14/08/2014 12:42

Dh got me one in June for our anniversary and I love it. Wouldn't have thought I would.

polyhymnia · 14/08/2014 12:50

They're not to my taste and I think they are very overdone in terms of them - and cheap imitations - being around everywhere, so have no novelty or fashion appeal. But that needn't matter as lots of people do love them and get great pleasure from building up their own personal versions, so if you think you would love them too, just go for it.

sunchild77 · 14/08/2014 12:57

Ahh my problem is I just can't decide what I think... hopeless
I think my problem would be solved if DH someone bought one for me...... but he won't :( I also want an eternity ring, but thats a whole other thread....!!

Maybe I should be looking at something a bit more unique.... but what and from where??

Thanks all!

I just love the two tone charms. Dh got me the pumpkin carriage and the unicorn on sat as it was an event day, and got a free mystery gift that was a purple leather bracelet that twists round three times. Plus the free champagne type stuff (probably not actually champagne) and macaroons were pretty nice. Event days and offers are what to look out for if you do get one, as they are expensive but feels nicer if you get something for free or cheaper.

buttercrumble · 14/08/2014 13:17

Love mine , I have the bangle with a few silver and murano glass beads Smile

JulesJules · 14/08/2014 13:30

I have a charm bracelet which was a christening present from my godfather - like this so it's now pretty vintage Grin and I love it.

If you like the idea of a charm bracelet but aren't sure about the Pandora bracelets, it might be an alternative. I have charms on mine which have been given to me over the years, eg an Eiffel tower from honeymoon in Paris, a little silver cat after my first pet, a castle when I bought my first flat etc.

They go in and out of fashion but I couldn't care less

ShelaghTurner · 14/08/2014 13:36

See I have a charm bracelet like that which was built up for me by my grandmother and while it has great sentimental value to me I would never wear it. All that jangling gets on my tits. That's why I prefer the pandora style as it doesn't make me feel like a Christmas tree!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 14/08/2014 15:02

I like my pandora bracelets. I've been buying them for a few years now so have quite a few. I also collect trollbeads.

Other brands are ohm beads, redbalifrog, chamilia (bit too bling for me) and Thomas sabo karma beads. All worth a look at.

Also my favourite pandora are the essence beads as they are smaller, stay in place on the bracelet and look nicer IMO.

mom1983 · 14/08/2014 15:03

I love mine! I have two leather ones, one wraps around twice the other three times. I prefer this style as they are more casual. Dp buys my one for Xmas, Mother's Day birthdays etc. I like them, as they can be very personal. But like everything, they aren't to everyone's taste.

Fairylea · 14/08/2014 15:15

We bought dd aged 10 a Pandora alike bracelet from amazon for about a quid for the bracelet and then billions of silver charms for about 3 a pack. It looks amazing actually :) everyone thinks it's a real Pandora bracelet - even though I have a real one and often wear mine at the same time.

Might be worth a search on there if you fancy trying a cheaper version without the outlay :)

trikken · 14/08/2014 15:27

Only thing is with the cheaper look alikes is that they dont stay as nice for as long.

Chottie · 14/08/2014 15:33

I love mine too. I just have a gold bracelet with a few gold and silver charms and clips. I do have a few turquoise beads I wear in the summer I feel happy wearing it. Every charm means something to me. :)

ZaraW · 14/08/2014 16:01

I think they are really overpriced and you can get a lot more for your money elsewhere.

Viviennemary · 14/08/2014 16:05

They're tacky worthless items. But if you like them why not. If I liked them I'd buy one. Why not get a nice piece of vintage or antique jewellery instead.

kentishgirl · 14/08/2014 16:12

I quite like the look of them but they are so overpriced for what you are getting - you are paying for the brand rather than the jewellery if you see what I mean.

Find a nice antique piece?

CiderwithBuda · 14/08/2014 16:15

I wasn't keen on them but a friend bought me one for my birthday with one charm - it's the Essence one. I love it. Happy with just the one charm though at the moment - might buy go up to three charms but no more.

Nearly bought myself an orange leather one recently but didn't in the end.

Perfectlypurple · 14/08/2014 16:18

I have 2 and a Pandora necklace. I like them and don't care what others think about them.

sunchild77 · 14/08/2014 16:32

I never thought of getting something antique, I like that idea.. :)
I don't have a huge amout of birthday money, less than £200..
off to google antique shops.. :)

I love mine I have a Thomas sabo one as well which I also love.

Bluebell79 · 14/08/2014 17:18

I love mine, have the necklace too, but only wear one charm at a time on that. Very overpriced. My children choose the charms so it's special to me.
