Help me..
Got some birthday money burning a whole in my pocket, and I can't decide whether the charm bracelet thing is a bit overdone or not. Appreciate your thoughts :D

Nope, don't like them at all.

For a charm-bracelet type design, I'd rather have something from Santos Wish.

They're tacky worthless items. But if you like them why not. If I liked them I'd buy one. Why not get a nice piece of vintage or antique jewellery instead.

What a load of bollocks. They're not worthless if they mean something to the people who own them and not everyone likes the styles available in antique jewellery so it's not necessarily nice assuming you don't speak for the whole of the western world. Such snobbery is laughable.

Viviennemary · 15/08/2014 11:29

That didn't come over very well. I apologise. Blush But I have a few tacky items myself so am nobody to talk. But I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on these. If they were £5 or £10 then fair enough. But they are quite expensive.

trikken · 15/08/2014 14:08

Nothing is to everyone's taste. Though saying that they seem pretty popular as the nearest one is always packed even on non event days. The prices vary on design and metal type but overall it's not too bad if its an occasional thing.

NoImSpartacus · 15/08/2014 20:10

I would buy something more individual. Once everyone starts wearing something it loses it's shine IMO

MadameOvary · 15/08/2014 20:26

They look good on the people I have seen wearing them, but don't appeal to me personally. If you like them, go for it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/08/2014 20:36

I think they are nice but I have the traditional type linked to by Julesjules earlier and love it to bits, all the charms were collected through my childhood, I haven't had any new ones for years. I only wear it for special occasions as day to day I find bracelets uncomfortable when writing or using a keyboard and mouse and I wear a watch on the other wrist, but it is very special and I think they are timeless.

NeverEndingLaundry · 15/08/2014 22:30

If I were looking for something really individual and personal, I wouldn't buy jewellery from a massive company that mass-produces beads and sells them on every high street as something really individual and personal.

CointreauVersial · 15/08/2014 22:37

I also have a traditional type charm bracelet, in gold, which has been filling up since I was born.

I do think Pandora is a little "over"; the original type with the beads, at least. Everyone has them. I also think they are a bit overpriced, playing on the brand name.

JaceLancs · 16/08/2014 00:20

I wear mostly antique jewellery, but also have a gold and leather pandora bracelet - I only have a few charms for it as the gold are quite expensive, mainly the murano glass or wooden ones

I bought it because I quite liked the ethnic look to it, but am thinking of selling on eBay as I don't wear it often as the charms annoy me at work if doing computer work

Snog · 16/08/2014 11:29

If the charms all mean something to you then it feels good to wear the bracelet imo.
I would have said over priced over done annoying to wear before I got mine but now I have one I really love it!!!!

Notsoskinnyminny · 16/08/2014 16:39

I'm on the fence. I've had a lovelinks one for over 8 years and loved it when nobody knew what it was but now there are so many cheap versions its stuck in a drawer although it does come out when we go on holiday as I've got mostly glass charms on it so it goes with most outfits.

When it was full DH bought me a disgusting Accurist watch ffs my work watch is dior because he thought I'd be able to put my spare beads on it don't ask for a surprise when asked what you want for xmas and my friend bought us both matching argos fake pandoras for our birthday after I'd complained to her about the tacky watch. I did find glass beads for 50p each at a craft fair so the watch doesn't look too bad now and I'll wear it occasionally, the fake pandora will probably never see the light of day Grin
