Bloody lovely slippers

AWombWithoutARoof · 10/08/2014 14:13

Am in the market for a pair of lovely slippers that will bring joy into my life.

Do I go sheepskin or felt?

I want to pad about my home pretending I'm in a Scandinavian crime drama.

LongTailedTit thanks for the Mahabi link... they're lovely but I ended up buying a pair for DS too! Just waiting for the parcel! It's not often 15 y-olds love slipper! There's a link to a 15% discount (lasts three days) for signing up to the website too.

Celtic Sheepskin is now Celtic and Co

Their slippers are lovely and you can machine wash them!

shoppingbagsundereyes · 15/08/2014 13:02

Don't any of you suffer with stinky feet? I have to buy £10 slippers as they reek by the end of the winter and need to go in the bin. Am impressed anyone could keep slippers for 6 years when mine don't do 6 months.

worldgonecrazy · 15/08/2014 13:22

shoppingbags you might find that natural materials such as sheepskin don't get as stinky as plastic/nylon based slippers.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 15/08/2014 13:33

Good point, maybe it's worth a try

Trundling onto thread to extol (as I always do Grin ) the virtues of sheepskin slippers.

Celtic are great and a lovely company - I've had three pairs of slippers from them.

For those who like their house boot style but find them expensive, I recommend these from Kiwi Sheepskins . I have a pair that I use as houseboots and they're brilliant, still not cheap but more affordable than Celtic and the quality is equally good.

I also swear by Kiwi Ultimate boots for outdoor use but that's another thread Grin

Just remembered another tip - if you're on holiday in Cornwall divert to Newquay and visit Celtic & Cos factory shop. Last time I was there I picked up two pairs of slippers for DD (current size and next size up) for 30 for 2 pairs. They have a teeny tiny flaw on them that you can hardly see, and were being sold as seconds.

Definitely worth popping in.

Another vote for Celtic and Co. I too am a hardcore slipper wearer and got fed up of replacing slippers every few months because they got worn out and tatty looking. I set up a search on eBay for Celtic ones in my size and managed to snap up a new without tags pair for half the Celtic price…am well chuffed with them, super cosy and comfortable, very hardwearing, ideal for popping out with the washing…

My DH and DCs have Celtic ones too now. There's no going back!

MelanieCheeks · 15/08/2014 14:47

My DH has just taken delivery of a pair of Mahabis this week and swears they are the best slippers Evurrrrrr.

AWombWithoutARoof · 15/08/2014 14:56

Melanie, do they have a sturdy padded sole? I like a bit of arch support whilst sitting on my arse in front of the telly.

I've got the best pair of really ugly sheepskin slippers. Them + onesie x hot chocolate = Heaven.

smugmumofboys · 15/08/2014 15:04

I've recommended these before. Lots of colours and very comfy and cosy.

Jacksterbear · 15/08/2014 15:12

I have Shepherd slippers (here - the saga ballerina ones) for winter. Look lovely and most importantly don't get smelly or make my feet sweat!

These lightweight Ruby and Ed slippers are my summer slippers.

MelanieCheeks · 15/08/2014 15:16

They have a sole that was strudy enough to drive me to the station. I think I'd find them too warm, they are really enclosed.

MrsMarigold · 15/08/2014 15:19

I love just sheepskin - I bought some for my DH and he lives in them in fact they were the best present I ever got him. I have some too in chocolate.

AWombWithoutARoof · 15/08/2014 15:19

Hhm, thanks Melanie. I was also a little worried about the polyester content. Think I need to stick to either 100% wool felt or 100% sheep.

I have just bought myself and DH the Haflinger grizzly torbens - we're both loving them. Warm without being sweaty, supportive but still comfy, and most importantly don't make us look like a pair of old gimmers! Love the felted wool.

KittieCat · 15/08/2014 20:40

This company is amazing. Really great service, I've orders loads from them:

I love Glerups Super comfy, warm, not stinky. DH has them too. Highly recommend.

Oh ...I asked this same question last winter. I had an awesome pair of PSI hard soled slippers in a very funky Nordic style. They were amazing and I got them from the Shuropody chain but after three years I wore them thru on the toe. I can't find them anywhere now. Very upset.

aoife24 · 16/08/2014 13:24

They're not the world's prettiest slippers but they are so cozy and also washable. Couldn't recommend them enough.

I know you said you don't like the knitted variety womb but I'm planning on buying some of these this winter www.notonthehighstreet.com/bakerandbell/product/chilote-house-shoe whilst I go in hibernation.

I bought dh some ugg slippers for me to pinch and I don't know if it's our sweaty feet but after a couple of months the inside went all flat and matted and not furry Confused

Fcukfifa · 16/08/2014 13:35

Aoife those north fave slippers are hardcore!
