Skincare as face dry and sore

I am at my wits end with my skin just now, its really dry and sore, can anyone recommend any reasonably priced gentle skincare, I can't use anything too perfumed or strong, same with make up.

Trilogy have a sensitive line that's lovely

CantEvenKeepAnOrchidAlive · 04/08/2014 22:41

I use superdrugs hot cloth cleanser and dry skin has been kept at bay so far this year. Also use Niveas sensitive skin day moisturiser and it does the job.

Oil. Coconut, olive, almond, grapeseed, wheatgerm.. Pretty much any kind works for me. It saved my skin.

Shonajay · 04/08/2014 23:39

Coconut oil. My saviour.

Ktay · 05/08/2014 07:49

Cetaphil cleanser (try independent pharmacies) is good for sensitive skin.

funchum8am · 05/08/2014 07:54

Aveeno range or Palmers cocoa butter work for me

IfUSeekAmy · 05/08/2014 07:59

Whenever my face feels sore from cold wind etc I use La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 at night and my face feels lovely in the morning. As PP above said Cetaphil is a good gentle cleanser too.

Beautifullymixed · 05/08/2014 08:12

Coconut oil or pure shea butter have saved my rosacea, red, rough skin. Have also recently tried pure argan oil-another success.

They calm it down and leave it smooth and soft.
I use the Fushi brand, and order from Amazon.
Wouldn't use anything else now.

domesticslattern · 08/08/2014 22:13

Eucerin does some excellent dry skin face creams- about a tenner each for some types. Best I have used for very dry sensitive skin.

Vintagebeads · 08/08/2014 22:30

I second La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 I use it daily as a moisturiser (though its not meant as one)
Brilliant stuff.

DoItTooJulia · 08/08/2014 22:32

Third ing LRP Cicaplast. Brilliant, doesn't irritate, super hydrating.

Alternatively, like pp, natural stuff like oil. Avoid all chemicals for a time.

Neal's Yard Frankincense range. Amazing.

monsterowl · 08/08/2014 22:45

Another vote for the oil cleansing method! There are threads about it on MN or you can just Google it.

lurkingaround · 08/08/2014 23:00

La Roche Posay. Get yourself to a decent friendly pharmacy and let them suggest something from the range, but as few products as possible, maybe cleanser and moisturiser. Toleriane is their range for intolerant skin, or Hydreane for sensitive skin. If that doesn't work I would opt for a private derm appointment.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 08/08/2014 23:08

Just today I went out and bought my old reliable Olay sensitive night cream. It's the only thing that doesn't leave my skin painful after a few days. I've tried everything else including oils and it's the only thing that works for me. I use it morning and night.

cardoon · 08/08/2014 23:08

I use this, day and night, dry sore skin is a thing of the past and my 11's are disappearing - miraculous!

Fozzleyplum · 08/08/2014 23:46

OCM followed by Steamcream www.steamcream.co.uk/. I started using Steamcream after I'd seen posters recommending it and it sorted out my sore skin and persistent eczema on my eyelids.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 08/08/2014 23:48

My face is much better since I've started using a cream called Double Base (need to ask pharmacist for it) and I now use a mineral foundation which is much better for my skin type.

Imliketotallyummm · 09/08/2014 10:30

I have psoriasis and my skin is very sensitive and often sore and flaking. I use Eucerin face cream and don't have any reactions to it. It's the only one I can use without breaking out in flaky patches.

Aveeno. The cream, not lotion. It's has Colloidal Oats in it. Soothing, moisturising, non greasy and "fattens" the skin.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 09/08/2014 16:47

Eucerin

Avene Skin Recovery Cream - soothing and calming for sore, dry skin.

CrazyLadyAtNumber31 · 09/08/2014 20:03

I'll second Avene Skin Recovery cream. My skin went really dry and flakey after using pure oils to cleanse and moisturise. Avene is lovely stuff - if you complete the survey online they send you out little sample tubes of whatever they recommend for your skin type according to your survey answers.
