So is everyone but me flat-chested these days?

That's all I can deduce after a look round the shops today. Rail after rail of tops and dresses with high necklines. Nothing scooped or V. Why is this? Am I horribly out of style then with my generous (not massive) boobs? Or am I looking in the wrong places?

I get that boobs are not high fashion (hence why Vicky Beckham had her falsies taken out) and catwalk models don't seem to have them but ordinary women still do, don't they? Confused

Dontgotosleep · 03/08/2014 19:42

Yeah they do I'm 46 h.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 03/08/2014 19:43

I'm 38G but I don't mind a higher neckline. Stops people looking at my cleavage.

RufusTheReindeer · 03/08/2014 19:45

Drives me mad when I see a great top or dress but can buy it because it gives me a mono boob

I look matronly Sad

MCSpammer · 03/08/2014 19:45

Massive ones here TennisTennis

Itscurtainsforyou · 03/08/2014 19:45

I agree. I look awful in high/round necklines and find it very frustrating that there's not much else in the shops.

fieldfare · 03/08/2014 19:45

36G here and I know what you mean. I can't wear a really high neckline as I look like one massive boob. Likewise, I don't want something really low cut either. A mid range scoop would do me just fine.

ElizabethArdenGreenTea · 03/08/2014 19:47

If im fighting fit, i have very little. I only really get boobs when my tummy & bum are too big for my liking.
Ive had to send dresses back because there is jyst space wjere there should be breasts. Try boden. They cut for biggunz imo!

MeganChips · 03/08/2014 19:49

Im really liking this trend despite having reasonably generous norkage.

I'm a 32E and I love higher necklines. I cannot bear anything low cut as I feel really exposed. It's probably due to a lifetime of having them spoken to.

I probably look really matronly but I'm happy!

daftbesom · 03/08/2014 19:56

Oh dear, I don't have the same experience with Boden (sorry ElizabethArden) - when their dresses fit me everywhere else they are usually too tight across the chest. (I am 39/40 inches round the chest, bra size 30 H, size 12 everywhere else.)

OP, I agree , v dispiriting and manufacturers are missing out on my custom - I have money to spend. Ditto three-quarter length sleeves.

I do quite well with Pepperberry, they have some gems.

margaritasbythesea · 03/08/2014 19:59

No no. I have this too. Most of the dresses around at the moment make me look like a man with socks down a bra trying to dress like a little girl. It's not a look I am for Hmm

alemci · 03/08/2014 20:02

one top from boden makes my books look big, as do some mandarin collars, I am 30e with slim shoulders.

ooh I don't feel so exposed and worried about leaning forward,

WitchWay · 03/08/2014 20:05

I have small rather high boobs & most crossover styles are obscenely low especially Boden

Shame as I like crossovers

BabCNesbitt · 03/08/2014 20:07

I'm not - 30GG here. I hate the drapey fabrics in so many tops now. I just want to find a structured, slightly stretchy top that doesn't hang off my tits and make me look pregnant.

rollonthesummer · 03/08/2014 20:09

I struggle with summer dresses-the strappy ones I like only seem to have a teeny tiny space to put your boobs in! So, if you are too booby, the seam that should be underneath them is actually on your nipple line and hangs from there looking awful!!

wafflyversatile · 03/08/2014 20:10

fashion cares not for actual body types.

today you will all be flat-chested or fuck you. tomorrow you shall all have shakira's hips or throw yourselves off that cliff.

RiverTam · 03/08/2014 20:11

certain high necklines can look fine with big boobs - don't write them off without trying them off. I've got big boobs, as has a colleague at work, and we both wear highnecked stuff without looking like a giant mono-boob.

I am under endowed if anything, and still heartily sick of high necklines! Hate em, unflattering and they make me feel constricted!

higgle · 03/08/2014 20:16

I'm quite flat chested but as I have wide shoulders plain high necks don't look good on me either. I think V necks are just out this year, they will come round again. Baukjen do lots of dresses that look as if they need curves to be shown to their best advantage.

SwedishEdith · 03/08/2014 21:16

Great Plains seem to suit huge chests - I usually have to send stuff back.

BurnThisDiscoDown · 03/08/2014 21:22

I have narrow shoulders and quite big boobs (34F), a lot of high necklines make them look disproportionately large and draws the eye even more! Confused I want slightly scooped tops that don't show loads of cleavage.

higgle · 04/08/2014 10:04

Seems everyone wants v and scoop necks and high ones hardly suit anyone at all. Strangely jumpers and some tops are OK on me, it is just dresses that don't look right.

picnicbasketcase · 04/08/2014 10:08

I know it's not the point of the thread (agreed by the way, huge boobs here, hate high necklines) but if you have a 40 inch chest, how are you a 30-anything in bra size? Isn't the '30' the number of inches around your chest? How does a bra that's ten inches shorter than your chest measurement go around you? Confused

museumum · 04/08/2014 10:18

I'm loving the high necklines. I have big boobs but I also have an 11month old who pulls at all my necklines and exposes my boobs if I wear v necks these days.
I have a relatively small waist and flattish tummy so I think the higher neck is ok actually, although with dresses I have to ensure they're short enough to not look frumpy.

HazleNutt · 04/08/2014 10:21

picnic no, the 30 number is your underbust measurement, not over. Have you seen one of our bra intervention threads?
