yes you are right.. I was amazed as well ..(maybe the ladies who run the shop didnt realise what it was ) .. Ive never had any Gudrun S (always too expensive/ a little bit not quite me)..but this is great.. Guess it was just my lucky day.. .

Actually i cant promise to keep out of charity shops as its something my mum (86) and I do together when she visits here .. but I get the point..

Cold turkey it has to be if im goingto change (except maybe for things in nice fabric to play with on my machine unless I find another Gudrun

Im prettymuch beginner .sewed at school ( badly) and can take up/in thiings etc.. but just fancy having a go again..

Laska42 · 22/07/2014 22:11

oh and the dress i ordered a few days ago (DH paid but not the p point) has arrived but havent opened the parcel yet..

8 days until August .. Wink

SpringItOn · 23/07/2014 22:14

I don't even have to read the article to know it's about me!

Four wardrobes crammed full and a five drawer chest. I'm rubbish at selling on and a lot of it doesn't fit since I've lost weight. I've got rid of loads but need to have another massive clear out, and need to stop buying more stuff!

I've just bought a Boden tunic as it was reduced from £59 to £17. Don't need it, got plenty of stuff for my holiday but hey...... 'twas a bargain.

And no! I'm not linking, don't want to tempt anyone now do I? Grin

Sleepyfergus · 24/07/2014 07:40

Right, kids are away this weekend, DH is away at rugby on Sunday so I'm going to have a really thorough clear out of my clothes. Totally ruthless, charity/bin/keep. Might eBay the odd thing - Boden or White stuff type things as they always seems to sell, but to be honest, I just want all the stuff going out of the house so it doesn't tempt me! Then I might be able to have a proper clothes system where I know what I have and what I might need (after August of course!)

I think half the problem is that I just don't know what I've got so end up buying duplicates which is just a waste. Not that I will really red anything and should t be spending anyway.

Greengardenpixie · 24/07/2014 08:33

Good luck with the sorting. I actually do that regularly! Ending up spending the money on more clothesSad I'm not doing so well. Bought a toast dress yesterday as it was a bargain! Angry I did have my eye on it before and dithered then saw it reduced on John lewis. On a plus though, the jumpsuit came but is a bit large so I'm returning it. Makes my arse look ridiculous! lovely from the front though annoyingly.

I was in John Lewis in Southampton today greengardenpixie saw a nice chambray Toast tunic but (luckily ) it was toosmall, so walked away with nothing (smug)

link us to he dress then, bad girl! [smile}

My HOF dress is nice .. but may not keep it ...its kind of unusual dress and not sure when ill wear it...

have booked a september hol.. I dont need clothes for it .. its visitng my mate in rural brittany. mac and jeans will do !

Sleepyfergus · 24/07/2014 22:49

Laksa - I envy you and your sewing machine! I wouldn't know where to start mind you! I've finally finished watching an old series of Sewing Bee on sky+ and I'm sort of hooked but I never seem to find the time to do anything let alone have the peace and quiet (and space) to having a sewing project.

Greengardenpixie · 24/07/2014 23:24

My toast dress is this:

www.polyvore.com/toast_arabelle_dress_washed_indigo/thing?id=106780320

Very plain. It may be too small as i am a 12 but it is a 10. However its jersey so may stretch and toast can be large aswell.

The holiday sounds lovely. Now a new funky mac from seasalt might just be the thing ha ha.....i know, that was uncalled for!!

OP posts:
Laska42 · 25/07/2014 13:53

Yup completely out of order ( luckily I have one like a Seasalt one already!!)

Stop it Greengardenpixie!!

Laska42 · 25/07/2014 13:56

that dress is a bit like the Toast skirt I got in the sale earlier Grin
.. thought we were nearly there , but Damn weve got another week ..

Can we resist clothes spending for 7 days ?

Scarletohello · 25/07/2014 13:59

Yes I am definitely guilty! Only thing that's stopping me at the moment is that I've put on weight and things don't look so good on me at the moment ( including half if my own wardrobe!)

Shopping in charity shops is a good way to fulfil the urge to buy but not spend much money, if money is an issue. And you can get some great stuff! :)

Scarletohello · 25/07/2014 14:03

Oh dear should have read whole thread!

Some good guidelines to remember are, ' a bargain is only a bargain if you would have paid full price for it'

Only buy things that are a 10/10.

There was another one but I've forgotten it!

Maybe one about waiting 24 hours to buy something you've seen as during that time you may well lose the urge to go get it!

Pay with cash only, leave those credit cards at home..

Sleepyfergus · 26/07/2014 09:27

Forgive me now for I have sinned.

Ok, not Aug yet, but I ordered a dress from Boden in the sale. I saw a woman In my local Boots store wearing one of the summer Selina dresses and it looked stunning, so I took a look and there was still a 12 in the colour I liked. £129 down to £39. I do have a "fancy but casual" (grrrr, make it one or the other FFS) 40th in September so I have it in mind to wear there.

It might not for or suit mind you....Wink

Sleepyfergus · 26/07/2014 09:31

*fit or suit

Youvegotthelove · 26/07/2014 16:20

I unsubscribed to the mailing lists for so many websites (Reiss, ASOS, Ted Baker, House of Fraser etc) as it was beginning to feel like everyday I was getting a 'quick! 30% off for just 24 hours!' type of email and I kept buying stuff that I really didn't need.

It has already made a huge difference as now don't really think to visit sites and so there's way less temptation and invitation to buy stuff.

dexter73 · 26/07/2014 16:46

' a bargain is only a bargain if you would have paid full price for it'

I don't agree with this one. I will buy things in the sale that I can't afford at full price e.g. bought a lovely pair of jeans for £41 that were £175 full price. I would never paid that as it is a ridiculous price for a pair of jeans but £41 is good as they fit well and look lovely.

Greengardenpixie · 26/07/2014 17:54

I think its better to say a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!

OP posts:
Sleepyfergus · 26/07/2014 18:08

I agree Dexter. No way would I have spent £129 on a dress, but £39 is more comfortable for me (and I will feel smug that i got it for £90 less)

Laska42 · 27/07/2014 17:14

3 days until August and Cold Turkey Wink
I didnt buy two linen dresses fron John Lewis sale I didnt, that wasnt me (or havent quite yet... because I could send them back) ...

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 17:19

Im not doing well at all :( :(
Think im starting my cold turkey when the last of my purchases come tomorrow!

OP posts:
Laska42 · 27/07/2014 17:26

Dont beat yourself up greengarden we all human... its the willl to start cutting back thats the thing.. like I say i could send my stuff back (but Iknow I wont..

shall we start a new thread now then.. 'No clothes buying August' sound Ok ? .. (do you want to do it or shall I?)

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 18:20

Sounds great :)
Thanks!
I really cant afford it all too...
Im like you, i could send back but i dont Confused
I bought a cardigan and didnt really like the shape of it...nice colour and surprisingly i did wear it but why dont i send stuff back?
I am getting slightly better at it though as i have sent other stuff back that i have actually quite liked. The jumpsuit was large. Great from the front but awful on the bottom!!

CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 18:26

Omg this is so me. I am out of control! I swear i get a high from online shopping. And when i open a package 3 days later it's like Christmas, the euphoria i feel Blush. I need to buy no clothes or shoes whatsoever in august. None. I do have some make up to buy before my hols and some henna, but that's it, just some necessary beauty buys. Shouldn't come to more than 100 quid. Which i can afford. New clothes i cannot Blush. I am making a silent pact with myself today.

Greengardenpixie · 27/07/2014 18:36

That is..i get a high and then the guilt :( I mean actually, i have bought so much over the last couple of months i have forgotten what i have bought let alone worn it!! so wtf am i spending more???? I buy it..look forward to receiving it, get it and then most times i forget about it and dont care that much about it. Of course, there are things that i love...but not everything. A high on ordering then a low when i receive it!! Mixture of guilt, shame, worry...and then the vicious circle starts again...

OP posts:
CoconutAmericano · 27/07/2014 18:44

It's like being on drugs!! The high followed by a low, then chasing the next high!! I am ashamed of myself, i really am.
