Need an outfit for a VERY smart September wedding

Very excited to have been invited to a wedding in September. Long-standing friends have finally decided to get married and they're doing it in style. DH will be in morning dress and I need a new outfit! I want to do the works - dress, jacket, shoes, hat and bag. I do have a couple of hats and a rather lovely clutch that I might be able to use, but only if they actually match - don't want to plan my outfit around them.

I'm size 12-14 and 5'10". Tummy is my worst bit so not too clingy and I don't like anything much above the knee either.

So, oh wise ones, what do you recommend?

Baby, that's a good point, they could all be worn again as they are not at all weddingy . CPW could be quite reasonable < talks self into buying anglomania dress >

Lots to look at - thanks Garlic. I do like the Tory Burch dress.....

And yes, I probably am especially sensitive about my tummy. But two children and a buggered pelvis have also left me with NO stomach muscles so it's always the first to let me down if I gain a couple of lbs!

Forgot about East, thanks gosh

What about this dress

This dress and coat are stunning, but I suspect very expensive as there's no price!

I daren't even ask Frankel!

I like that dress Garlic. Wonder if it would go with the coat. I feel a trip to East coming on.

Maybe you need a shift with that coat.

OvertiredandConfused · 21/07/2014 13:21

Thanks Garlic. I could never do that! Maybe not together Sad. The dress is probably a better shape for me than a shift so maybe I need to think about accessorising that.

But not today. I have an afternoon and evening full of meetings and work first!

I've ordered this (it can always go back) to try. Not sure whether to go for a coat or jacket. And what colour?

It's a lovely dress but surely the colour isn't, erm, the most natural choice for a wedding guest. Love the East coat though - do you like bot colours or just the one?

this is very pretty but maybe not the shape you're after.

That is lovely MrsLettuce but not on my shape.

I am a bit wary of the colour and I'll only wear it if I can accessorise appropriately - I'm thinking of a long coat, like this one or a shorter jacket, plus shoes and bag in either browns or blues.

If you would wear a maxi dress, this is still available in a size 12 and absolutely to die for! Would look gorgeous accessorised with white and silver...

Look at a close-up of the bodice:

Also Ted Baker and beautiful (plus, unusual!):

If money is not an issue, this is stunning (but another maxi). Model is 5ft10 though so it'd be long enough for you. I know you said you were aware of a tum iirc but some clever 'secret shapewear' might help:

Some LKBennett's but you'd have to inquire about length:

This one is ruched for a flattering shape (also available in your size in red):

Still in your size:

Coast:
Model is 5ft9 so maybe a bit short but pretty and easy to team with other things:

A maxi but lovely!:

Out of stock but maybe you could find it in John Lewis or House of Fraser?

Gorgeous but maybe for the evening, not the day?

You might outdo the bride in that last one! :)

(yes, I did mean the Esat coat Blush)

this dress could almost have been made to go with it. Still worry the combo would be too bridal though. Would you not consider the navy one?

Pretty sure this is the dress the navy Cornelia coat is styled with. Look great together.
