need a foundation that stays put in this heat!

any suggestions on this? Im currently using bare minerals powder, used to use sheer cover.

I prefer minerals as liquids just slip off my face! :-( but im finding the bare minerals is flaking on my nose and chin area and looks hideous. also as I say its just melting off in this heat.

ideally in my dream world id like to not wear any but I have spots (at my age!) and they are red and ugly :-( so need to cover them.

also like to add that tinted moisturisers bring me out in more spots, got quite sensitive skin id say, I find a lot of things ive tried has made my face worse.

No7 stay perfect superlight is quite good. It says it's transfer, smudge proof etc but it's not really. I powder first then apply this, with powder over the top. It stays put most of the day - even in the heat. It feels extremely light - barely notice it - and doesn't bring me out in spots.

Scarletohello · 16/07/2014 12:17

I second putting powder on before liquid foundation. There's a whole recent thread about this...

Gillybobs · 16/07/2014 12:22

Estée Lauder doublewear (they will give you a 7 day sample at their counters), Revlon Colorstay and Stila Stay all day are all excellent foundations with tonnes of staying power. Apply sparingly with a brush all over then add a little extra to your problem areas.

Veins · 16/07/2014 12:35

Have you tried Effaclour Duo for the spots mouses? I swear by it, it can take about five weeks to kick in but it worked much quicker on me.

Carpaccio · 16/07/2014 13:55

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is nice - it lasts very well and isn't full coverage like the original Double Wear foundation.

The Daywear BB cream from the same brand also lasts well on me.

Mac Face and Body. I do think it gets a bit shiny on my nose though - but it does last well.

Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser - lasts very well.

For concealer, I use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage or the Dermablend foundation. I set it with powder.

I have acne prone, oily, dehydrated skin. It's mainly in the T-zone that I get oily. Especially in summer I like the sheerer foundations and then just concealer on the bad bits.

capsium · 16/07/2014 13:59

I have never found a foundation that stays completely put. I too wear mineral make up now and fine it pretty good. I wear this one:

www.barefacedbeauty.co.uk/product/mineral-foundation/

After lunch all I do is blot my face with a tissue and apply a bit more. Seems to work OK. I've always done this no matter what make up I was wearing.

MonterayJack · 16/07/2014 14:02

Never found anything that really does the job but the nearest I've had is Estee Lauder Doublewear Light. Definitely worth getting a sample first though as it's fairly £££. It doesn't feel sticky and I recently tried the powder first after the recent thread and it definitely helps.

AntoinetteCosway · 16/07/2014 14:03

Can you skip foundation and just use a heavy duty concealer where necessary? The foundation slipping off your face in the heat will probably get greasy and make spots worse so I'd say it's worth avoiding if a fall possible.

QuinnFabray · 16/07/2014 14:21

I really like the new No 7 stay perfect super light too. I've tried a lot of foundations and this one is really good. It's not perfect but what I like most about it is that it's really easy to touch up during the day, as the bottle is handbag friendly, it's weightless and can easily be re-applied with fingers on the go, and no matter how many times you re-apply it doesn't cake up. It just melts into the skin.

QuinnFabray · 16/07/2014 14:23

Also, a primer will help make your foundation last. I love MAC SPF 50 prep and prime.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/07/2014 16:16

Revlon colour stay applied with a damp beauty blender!

Amethyst24 · 16/07/2014 19:00

I am a recent convert to YSL Touche Éclat foundation. It doesn't shift even after six hours running around sweating under a mask (Drowned Man fan alert).

mouses · 17/07/2014 11:46

thanks for all the help, so many to think about!

I did use primer, bareminerals one came in the set. didnt make much difference.

concealers work for a few hours then start to go flaky round the spots makin them look more hideous :-(

guess just need to find the one that works.

got lots to look into. thanks

Mouses. Bellapierre mineral makeup.
Only has 3/4 ingredients. Isn't shiny/shimmery like BM or irritating.

I used mine during a recent trip to Maldives in 35c with 75% humidity and it stayed put.

There is also Lily Lolo. Used to use this pre DC when my skin was oily. It has a much higher amount of zinc oxide in than Bellapierre. So will stay put and without shine. Sadly my skin is now too dry for this one. It much cheaper than Bellapierre.

Both of the above leaves you looking flawless. Bellapierre has far better coverage but is twice the price if Lily Lolo.

Shade wise. I have very yellow undertones but v pale skin so Bellapierre is perfect. Lily Lolo has a range but IMO works best for neutral and pink undertones as none of their palest foundation is yellow based (neutral or pink. You need to get 4 shades in before you get a proper yellow based one)

To set it and make it airbrushed. I spray my face with Avene facial spritz, then apply and buff in the foundation, then spritz again to set it.

If you're oily then don't spritz before you apply the foundation or it will slide off. Only spritz after to set it.

sounds good! where would I look for those brands? thanks

I live in Texas, it's 40C nearly every day in the summer. I use a tinted primer with SPF, then lilylolo mineral foundation on top, which I've been using for years and years. Stays put forever Grin

mouses · 17/07/2014 20:20

thanks again,
I think my skin is a bit of both? oily /dry! bareminerals wears off around my nose and chin more than anywhere else on my face.

I also wouldnt know what undertones I am Confused

i used a fab shu uemura primer (bb mousse) and it makes everything stay put in this weather, fab stuff

butterfliesinmytummy · 17/07/2014 20:23

Lilylolo foundation can be bought in sample sizes, 1.49 each. Get a couple and test them out.

MrsFlorrick · 17/07/2014 20:30

Mouses.
Lily Lolo direct from their own website
www.lilylolo.co.uk

And Bellapierre are sometimes stocked in House of Fraser (not sure which ones)
I buy mine from Naturisimo
www.naturisimo.com/index.cfm?nme=Bellapierre

Avene facial spritz/spray from Larger Boots stores.

You could also try the Triacneal stuff from Avene. Amazing at blasting spots and healing the redness. And prevents them too. I recommend that stuff. Well worth a go.

If your skin is quite oily, Lily Lolo may be worth a go. At £13 for a large pot of foundation which lasts 4/6 months, it value for money.
They do £1.99 tester pots so finding your colour isn't going to be expensive.

Bellapierre is double that but as I said its the only one that works for me now that my skin is dry.

There is also Inika. Beautifully soft mineral makeup. And superb coverage. Sadly for me I can't find a colour match otherwise I'd buy their stuff as it's really good and cheaper than BP.

There are other mineral
Makeup brands.
Have a look on the Naturisimo site and see. There are at least 4 others. And lots of reviews to give you an idea.

Sadly I can't recommend any of the stuff available in department stores/Boots as its choc full
Of fillers and skin irritants and I can't use any of them at all.

mouses · 17/07/2014 20:30

where do I get samples from please :-)

You say your skin is oily around the nose and dry on cheeks?

I would try Lily Lolo then and use a spritz/spray under the makeup (as I described in first post) on your cheeks only but not on nose and chin.

You may need a Lily Lolo concealer as well for extra coverage. Theirs is about £8 and will last you more than a year.

If you wanted an all in one product you need either Bellapierre or Inika mineral makeup. Those are both all in one. But more expensive.

To find out your skin undertone, there are various ways.
The most reliable is to look at the veins on the inside of your wrists.
If they are mostly green, then you are yellow undertone (or olive if darker skinned)
If they are Blue you are pink toned.
And if they are equally blue and green then you are neutral.

I have extremely pale skin but am completely yellow undertone (from the Nordic region). In the past it was hard to find very pale yellow based make up. Thankfully it's easier now.

Also do buy some Lily Lolo samples even if you work out your undertone etc because it's so much cheaper to make sure.

mouses · 17/07/2014 20:38

thanks for the links,
agree the store ones don't seem worth the money. im only using the bareminerals as I paid a lot for it!!
