any suggestions on this? Im currently using bare minerals powder, used to use sheer cover.

I prefer minerals as liquids just slip off my face! :-( but im finding the bare minerals is flaking on my nose and chin area and looks hideous. also as I say its just melting off in this heat.

ideally in my dream world id like to not wear any but I have spots (at my age!) and they are red and ugly :-( so need to cover them.

I can't even use the Bareminerals matte version as it makes my face sore.
Their mystery ingredient which they call "earth mineral" or something like that, must be something nasty because my face can't stand the stuff. I actually emailed their customer services about it and they refused to be drawn on what it actually was. Hmm

I've found two foundations heatproof: Lily Lolo (set with Avene) and Revlon Colorstay. I've spent a lot of time in various countries where it's very hot and these are my go-tos.

Mica in mineral foundation can be very itchy, particularly when you sweat. Worth testing around a bit, some samples I tried felt like ground glass and others completely different, weightless and pleasant.

The only ones I have had that stay put in the heat are an Urban Decay one "with Olay" (might have been Hard Candy actually) that I bought in Florida.

And any Illamasqua foundation, liquid or powder.

I just followed mrsflorrick's link to bellapiere- it's 25% off at the mo and a message came up for 10% off a first order.
Anyone with dry (eczema) sensitive, occasional spots tried it?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 18/07/2014 12:31

Can you buy samples of the Bella Pierre stuff?

dawndonnaagain · 18/07/2014 12:58

jane I use bellepiere mineral compact foundation and love it, it covers my psoriasis!
If you keep a corner of it for use wet, it works as a fabulous concealer.

I agree on the No7 stay perfect extra light. I have a really sweaty face and head (nice) due to menopause ( even nicer), this is the only foundation that doesn't slide off. I put two layers on with a beauty blender. I use Benefit Porefection underneath.

Jane. I have dry sensitive skin and suffer from rosacea. Bellapierre are one of the only ones which doesn't irritate. Ditto Lily Lolo and Inika but their shades are not as good for me.

You can't get BP samples sadly.

What I can tell you is that Ultra, Ivory, Cinnamon and Nutmeg are all yellow based. Ultra slightly towards neutral but the rest are very yellow/olive (nutmeg).

Lily Lolo have lots of neutral and cool shades but their yellow based ones don't really start until the darker ones.

Inika has neutral and cooler toned ones but no yellow in their paler shades which is why it doesn't work for me. Shame because their powder is super soft and high coverage.

I really rate all of the above. As I said I prefer Bellapierre because of its yellow base even at the v pale end of the scale. And it works brilliantly on dry skin. And of course the coverage. Fully adjustable.

Lily Lolo are fab but has a very high Zinc Oxide content which is a drying astringent and therefore good for oily skin but not so much for dry.

DodobirdVerdict · 18/07/2014 15:28

Zinc can be good for certain skin types though. I have dry and sensitive skin and various skin creams that contain zinc (nappy creams, LRP Cicaplast Baume B5) are very soothing and healing. My skin felt a bit tight early on but has adapted and is in good condition these days.

Thanks Dawn and mrsflorrick, I'll give it a try and report back. If I added up all the money I've spent over the years on foundations.... But still think my perfect one is out there lol Smile
