Product-snob but how fab is Nivea in-shower moisturiser?

PoppyAmex · 15/07/2014 21:01

As in title, really.

I've been brainwashed by magazines throughout my formative years in the early nineties and still secretly believe most cheap products aren't great.

I have a 2yo and a 7mo who NEVER SLEEP and even basic stuff like moisturising feels like hard work at the moment, so I bought the Nivea Cocoa Butter In-shower moisturiser and oh my...!

You shower as normally, applied it and then rinse off. No waiting, no faff. No residue on towels and it has made a massive difference to my skin. Love it. Have just bought the honey and original ones.

Has anyone used it? How can it work so well when you rinse it off immediately?

How much are they paying you?!

ZenNudist · 15/07/2014 21:04

Goshawk I thought the same.

It does nothing for me but does leave my bath a lethal slip hazard!

ThisBitchIsResting · 15/07/2014 21:05

I've been meaning to try this. Does it make your shower floor all slithery? Does it make your towels less fresh?

chutneypig · 15/07/2014 21:05

I think it's fantastic. I have very dry skin and now very rarely have to top up with cream after a shower, only in very cold weather. Saves getting greasy post shower and it is so quick, as you say.

dementedma · 15/07/2014 21:06

Sis loves it. I'm not keen. It can't be on long enough to do any good

nutdust · 15/07/2014 21:06

something fishy about the penultimate paragraph?...

wiltedcabbage · 15/07/2014 21:09

It made no difference to my skin and was binned after a couple of uses.

wooly31 · 15/07/2014 21:15

Nah, don't like it. Very little moisturising action and clogs up the drains with slimy residue.

I do wonder how good these products are for the environment when you see these great fat balls blocking sewers- washing half the product down drain can't that great can it. Although maybe there are lots of slinky, well moisturised fish benefiting from the scale smoothing action.

Now Astral I could wax lyrical about

krazipan · 15/07/2014 21:17

I bought one bottle a year ago and haven't bothered again since.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/07/2014 21:50

I've been using it for about a year, the type for dry skin, works well.

TheGoshawk · 15/07/2014 22:19

There are several posts like this...

AnyaKnowIt · 15/07/2014 22:21

Isn't it just aquaus cream?

ZenNudist · 15/07/2014 23:30

Goshawk - I know! I don't mind obviously sponsored threads which you can ignore or choose to join in. It's the sneaky stuff trying to be 'real'. Sticks out a mile.

squoosh · 15/07/2014 23:41

Nope, I'm not really a fan.

I have dry skin and I still needed to moisturise. Double the work really.

And makes the shower mega slippy.

andsmile · 15/07/2014 23:46

PoppyAmex has been on MN for yonks.

I have been wondering about this stuff.

I used to put Palmers cocoa butter bath oil on as I got out of the bath, that made my skin lovely.

andsmile · 15/07/2014 23:54

I passed it, if you want to add mosturiser to you bod, why would you simultaneiusly rinsing it off?

Pah its like that wash n go 2 in 1 con.

andsmile · 15/07/2014 23:54

What next mascara that removes it self as you out it on

Dfg15 · 16/07/2014 00:00

I tried it when somewhere (can't remember where ) had it half price thought it was rubbish wouldn't use again

LadyRochford · 16/07/2014 00:03

I saw the advert for that ages ago and thought "oh great they've invented something else to become a daily necessity". Does anyone really moisturise all over? I never do and have really dry skin. I think if your skin goes dry and flakey you need to use less soap.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/07/2014 00:05

People with dry skin have dry skin and need to moisturise all over,I don't use soap so that isn't causing it.

andsmile · 16/07/2014 00:13

or drink more water

well..unless you squirming around try to be and looking all sexual like why is it nexcessary to have a dewy looking body all aover anyway.

I does me hands face and arms most days. The rest gets a bit slapped on if my last chance alarm hasnt gone off in am

EddieStobbart · 16/07/2014 00:21

Yes but using the full title makes the OP read a little oddly.

I am probably just a very suspicious person however. I once bought a mascara after it was recommended on here. It was so expensive and was no better than Maybeline, am convinced that one was product placement!
