Product-snob but how fab is Nivea in-shower moisturiser?

As in title, really.

I've been brainwashed by magazines throughout my formative years in the early nineties and still secretly believe most cheap products aren't great.

I have a 2yo and a 7mo who NEVER SLEEP and even basic stuff like moisturising feels like hard work at the moment, so I bought the Nivea Cocoa Butter In-shower moisturiser and oh my...!

You shower as normally, applied it and then rinse off. No waiting, no faff. No residue on towels and it has made a massive difference to my skin. Love it. Have just bought the honey and original ones.

Has anyone used it? How can it work so well when you rinse it off immediately?

Yeah you got me, I've been posting on MN for years just bidding my time to put this amazing PR stunt and get you all to shell out on these Nivea bad boys. Hmm Grin

Was also going to mention how I just replaced Clarins Blue Orchid face oil by an amazing Green Keratin product, but screw that for a game of soldiers! Grin

I didn't even know the Nivea has been around for over a year. Tragic.

Anyway, I'll take my lovely moisturised legs and get my coat.

I moisturise all over after every bath or shower - it's one of my "things" - I have quite a collection of butters, oils, lotions and massage bars for this. I love it, it feels very indulgent and my skin is delicious afterwards.

If in a rush, I sometimes use Lush's Buffy or King of Skin - you use them in-shower like the products the thread is about (I prefer them as loads of natural ingredients and no packaging).

Oooh which oil did you swap to? I love a facial oil and am always looking for new recommendations (esp. if it's cheaper than Clarins BOO).

ScouseBird8364 · 16/07/2014 10:42

LOVE it! I was chosen as a product tester on Netmums for this, just before it was released for purchase.

It does leave a tiny slip on bath floor but I wouldn't say it's particularly dangerous, like Baby Oil or anything!

I don't buy it though because of how expensive it is Sad Something like £4.95 for a (small) standard sized bottle?

But yes, I do rate it, seems to keep my skin very soft, even the following day Wink

I am using it now, as its winter I get very dry. Its okay, but not the best moisturizer really, the normal one is much better. But I LOVE how it smells.

victoryinthekitchen · 16/07/2014 12:36

I'm with wooly31 on the Astral, its lovely - a huge tub for about £7 and I slather it from top to toe ... it's ace for dry (old) skin and as aftersun.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 16/07/2014 13:51

I got sent a sample, and really didn't like it. I didn't feel like it actually moisturised my skin, and then when I got out of the shower, I had to flippin' clean the shower - saved absolutely NO TIME. It takes me about two minutes to bung some Aveeno on after my shower.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 16/07/2014 13:51

Apologies for over-using the word 'shower' in my previous post!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/07/2014 14:35

I like it because I hate the way my skin feels if I moisturise after a shower,I come out clean then end up feeling a bit sticky and claggy.

Housewife2010 · 16/07/2014 14:44

You could just apply baby oil to wet skin before you get out of the shower. I've done that in the past & it leaves your skin beautifully soft.

NannyLouise29 · 16/07/2014 14:49

Not tried the Nivea one, but the Rose Argan body conditioner from Lush is amazing. The smell is out of this world!

VenusDeWillendorf · 16/07/2014 14:53

I use Vaseline intensive care with oats after the shower, and don't rinse off. Fab alternative to aveno.
Doesn't clog up any drain, and leaves my towels ok.
I get it for a quid in the pound shop.

Of course it contains "chemicals" and is made by Unilever, so according to some it's a hazardous substance..... Especially the urea and lactic acid aspect.....

But, as I am made of chemicals and eat them and breathe them in everyday, I'm happy with it!
Wink

I use edible grade grape seed oil for cleansing my face, even though it contains chemicals too.... Grin I get a 250 ml bottle - lasts ages, but not when I cook with it!

SublimeCorpse · 16/07/2014 15:22

I tried it when it first came out, don't think much of it at all to be honest.

Deathraystare · 16/07/2014 15:26

Wasn't impressed with it (Nivea thing). Their other shower creams (and Dove's) are better. Perhaps I just prefer to do things separately.

Liger123 · 16/07/2014 16:19

The vaseline spray moisturiser is really good. It's not a deep moisturise but easy and quick enough to use everyday, so probably better than using a thicker moisturiser sporadically.

LottaMarten · 16/07/2014 17:58

I had some and it was ok but I worried for my drains.. Felt it could utterly clog them up

PoppyAmex · 16/07/2014 18:55

Nanny, I agree. The Lush Rose Argan is lovely.

They also had a limited edition shower gel over Christmas called "Rose Jam" which was amazing. I felt bereft when it finished. should've bought dozens
