Little girls' clothes?

CheerfulYank · 09/07/2014 21:26

What brands do you like best for your DD?

I'm picky, I think! :)

DD is only one but I'm hoping to scoop up some end of summer deals for next year so she may be in toddler sizes then.

I like clothes that look like they belong to a little girl, not a 20 year old going clubbing. But also I don't like lots of frills or princessy type things because I want her to run and play, obviously!

We're in the US and this summer she's been in mostly Old Navy or Gap. I do like the look of Hanna Andersson and Land's End for some dresses that are sweet but look durable and not too fussy.

Any other ideas? :)

I like Zara for my dd, she's 4 and slim and she is drowned in a lot of UK high street brands. Although I don't like all their stuff they have quite a bit that is 'little girl' appropriate. I also like Stella McCartney but only buy it at a deep discount because she grows out of everything (obviously!).

libertychick · 09/07/2014 21:37

I really like Polarn O Pyret and I also buy a lot of Boden for my 3.6 DD

Rinkydinkypink · 09/07/2014 21:40

John Lewis have some nice things in!

nilbyname · 09/07/2014 21:46

Tu at sainsburys is surprisingly good, some h&m, boden, Zara, gap, verbudet.

twainiac · 09/07/2014 23:55

Gymboree? I love their stuff for little girls.

CheerfulYank · 10/07/2014 00:02

Oh Gymboree is good twain :) Expensive sometimes but as I'm hoping to shop a year ahead anyway I can probably get good deals.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Vertbaudet (www.vertbaudet.co.uk/), Boden and John Lewis

Jemimapuddleduk · 10/07/2014 08:28

We love frugi, lilly and Sid and olive & moss. Really bright and cheerful stuff, last lots of washing and perfect for running about and being boisterous!

Jemimapuddleduk · 10/07/2014 08:29

Oh and the boden sale.

carrie74 · 10/07/2014 11:06

Boden, Gap, Crewcuts (Factory though), H&M

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 10/07/2014 12:00

have always liked
John Lewis
Boden
Gap
Joules
Zara
H&M
Frugi

and even Next has some lovely stuff for younger girls, and I've been finding it ok for my 8yr old as well, some good items, cute shorts and dresses.

The odd bit in Asda, Sainsburys is usually good. M&S up to the gae 5-6 range virtually anywhere has lovely clothing, its once they are past that hat it gets a bit trickier. Even primark I have picked up gorgeous dresses and shorts when dd was younger.

andsmile · 10/07/2014 12:09

I like the look of verbaudet but find there clothes can be very very thin cotton - ive been disappointed with a couple of tunic dresses.

I like Boots' range. (sale on now)

I like next - there are samey but I think the price and quality are good.

TwoInTheMourning · 10/07/2014 13:31

Oh Lands End is pretty good too

BuntyCollocks · 10/07/2014 13:38

In the US I LOVE Zutano.

Over in the UK, I am a next stalwart, with some John Lewis and M&S thrown in. Tesco are also very good.

andsmile · 10/07/2014 13:40

oo yes Ive loved M & S this summer for my little girl. Boys selection has been terrible in M&S

Stokey · 10/07/2014 13:43

Mine live in H&M £2.99 dresses in the summer. They are surprisingly good quality for the price and are still going strong after second daughter has worn them.

WanttogotoDisney · 10/07/2014 13:45

As you're in the US, it has to be Kate Mack. I love, love, love it. There are some good online sales at the moment and I always buy ahead for the next year.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 10/07/2014 15:59

Oops I missed the us bit. Definitely gap and old navy. I love old navy but can't get it here unless pay huge postal costs so stock up when we come over on holiday.

Children's place has some nice stuff, Gymboree and I think it's called ps21 the kids section of Aeropostale. I love hanna anderson too but again the postage makes it expensive to get here.

mulberrylover · 10/07/2014 21:55

I'm probably the wrong person to ask as this is my obsession..

Zara- you would think it would be pricey but it really isn't. Avoid if you like "proper little girl" clothes with slogans and cute motifs etc on. The clothes do have a more grown up feel I think.
Next- you get some gorgeous bits from there and the sales are excellent- I know of no other shop that offers 50% or less of all it's items which is great if you've had your eye on something a tad pricey. It's terrible for adult clothing though.
Joules- not much DD can wear at the moment (she's 1 on Sunday) but the sleep suits are adorable
Tesco- got some gorgeous bits in there today that are copies of things from next (I believe the clothes are made in the same factory?)
Mini club at boots- there's not much choice really but some lovely bits.
Also picked up some great bits from TK Maxx and brought lots from Carter's, Old Navy and Gymboree when I was in the states.

mulberrylover · 10/07/2014 21:57

Oh and Primark! Some very cute sleep suits in there at the moment.

PastaandCheese · 11/07/2014 06:44

I like Boden, JoJo Maman BeBe and John Lewis for DD.

As above plus Ted Baker for DS.

Fram · 11/07/2014 21:10

Oh- if you're in the US, I love gymboree!

Though it's not quite as good design-wise as it used to be.
Boden too.

ANd Janie & Jack (gymboree company, more upmarket)

Fram · 11/07/2014 21:10

J&J come up v small btw, partic compared with gymboree sizes.

Ok- please y'all tell me what your favourite ever Gymbo line was?

BeCool · 11/07/2014 21:19

Polarn O Pyret
H&m
John Lewis
Catamini

Sprinkled with my up cycles

Livingwithminecraftaddicts · 11/07/2014 21:55

Becool what do you upcycle? If you don't mind me asking. I love hearing other peoples ideas.
My favorite girls brands are Zara, h&m on high street. We have a great independant childrens boutique in town which does oilily, catimini etc so I buy that for special occassions and coats. I love a good coat.
I find shoes difficult to get for dd though
