What do people think of Pepperberry?

After my rant about bras for bigger boobs I ended up in Bravissimo and noticed they now do a much larger range of clothes. I was under the impression that they were either a bit frumpy or quite formal but I got a lovely sun top and what a relief to find something strappy that actually covers my bra and boobs but doesn't flatten them or give me a ginormous cleavage. I am tempted by some of their other things now, has anyone else bought much from there?

I have as, like you, I went in for a bra and noticed the clothes. I ended up ordering a load of stuff, but have taken back everything except one dress. Which with hindsight should've gone back as well. Some of the items the quality was poor, but on the whole for they weren't a great fit. Given the whole idea behind them is great fit I wasn't best impressed. I'm pretty average boob size and got measured up for their clothes while in the shop, so there were no excuses really. I might've been unlucky but I won't be bothering with it again.

TimeForAnotherNameChange · 01/07/2014 23:00

Nice but over priced. Vastly overpriced, in fact, even with extra material and more difficult cutting & construction arguments. Best bet is ebay, lots of their stuff on there.

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2014 23:02

I've been buying bras from Bravissimo for years, but had never tried Pepperberry until recently.

I got a top, a maxi dress and a long skirt & I'm really happy with the fit & the quality. I will buy from them again.

Catmint · 01/07/2014 23:06

I find jersey fits better than woven in their clothes.

Also, try on and try on again in different bra because some things do a weird ghost boob thing standing slightly proud of my bust.

I have a corduroy jacket from there which I wear all the time, and a couple of dresses. Tops haven't been so good for me.

But Pepperberry if you are reading; stop putting ugly embellishments round the necklines of things. If I want hideous beads I'll go and get some from a car boot. Thank you.

CookieMonsterIsHot · 01/07/2014 23:07

Returned everything I ever bought, except one nightie.

Everything made me look frumpy or accentuated my chest in a bad way. Anything with secret support actually gave poor support and somehow made my norks go sideways. Definitely not worth the money.

I still buy good bras from them but wear them under "normal" clothes.

MarianForrester · 01/07/2014 23:08

Frumpy and expensive. Always makes me wish I had smaller norks.

Scarletohello · 01/07/2014 23:15

A brilliant idea, badly executed. Apart from the price the thing that really pisses me off about them is that they basically just reproduce high street styles but for bigger boobs. Problem with that is that the styles themselves are designed for small boobed women which means that they aren't very flattering for bigger women. They are often cut very high underneath the busy, accentuating it and for me, just make me look top heavy. I tend to wear long skirts or straight leg trousers, which help to balance my bust. Not very fashionable but they suit my shape. I wish they would design clothes that were more flattering for this kind of shape but I don't think it's gonna happen. So disappointed in them.

Scarletohello · 01/07/2014 23:16
  • bust, not busy!
ElizabethJennings · 01/07/2014 23:17

They've raised their game enormously this season. Still dear, but lots of cotton and really well made.

Scarletohello · 01/07/2014 23:20

Like these dresses, they would only look good if you are slightly busty, on me (34G) they would make me look frumpy and top heavy.

Got a few nice tops, but every dress I've ever ordered has had to go back due to being way shorter than stated in the description.

got this, tis lovely

as is this

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2014 23:25

thenightsky I am currently wearing the first one you linked to!

Agree, its lovely.

goodasitgets · 01/07/2014 23:26

I prefer biubiu - cheaper and fits me great

thenightsky · 01/07/2014 23:29

Drama They do a plain bluey kinda purple one in the same style, but it's strangely huge and baggy and weird in sizing.

DramaAlpaca · 01/07/2014 23:32

Sounds like they aren't very consistent, but we got lucky. This one fits me perfectly & is very flattering.

Yoghurty · 01/07/2014 23:33

I like a lot of the dresses they made- the styles suit me, but I've had to send every one of them back- as someone said up thread, they are quite short. I'm only 5'2" and they are all considerably above my knee!

IDismyname · 01/07/2014 23:59

I bought a black lace cotton top from them. It looked so ordinary in the catalogue I didn't notice it until I saw it on the hanger in the shop.

It's a brilliant fit considering there's no Lycra or elastane in the mix.

It's solved the dinner party/ Black tie problem as I wear it with different skirts. Wish I'd bought another...

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/07/2014 01:08

I have one dress, which am totally in love with. It's gorgeous. a lot of stuff i see in store looks quite frumpy. the dresses i always want sell out quickly.
They are overpriced but a bit of a revelation for me. With my DD's dress shopping can be a nightmare

alltoomuchrightnow · 02/07/2014 01:08

double D's that is, not daughters!

Rainydayblues · 02/07/2014 06:46

It's a bit conservative/frumpy/classic for me.

CambridgeBlue · 02/07/2014 07:03

Most of the opinions here are pretty much what I thought before, guess I just got lucky today. Definitely going to keep my eye on eBay as I do think the clothes are a bit pricey.

I always want to like it more than I do.

Got a couple of dresses 2 years ago which are fab though.

SweepTheHalls · 02/07/2014 07:21

I've been really pleased with the summer dresses I ordered.

Polyethyl · 02/07/2014 07:30

The quality used to be poor, but has improved dramatically.

I buy most of my dresses from Pepperberry now.

But I definitely agree that their hemlines are too short.
Dresses photographed as being on the knee should actually be on the knee and not way above it.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 02/07/2014 07:38

I want to like them but as others have said, I find their dresses come up very short and they don't think about flattering the shape of many big-busted women. I feel like they're designing clothes for women with boob jobs rather than women whose natural shape is busty. Whenthe clothing line was Bravissimo and they had just started doing clothes, they did a fabulous wrap dress that had a full skirt and came just below the knee - I still have one that I wear all the time. But they quickly changed it to a straight skirt and their hemlines kept on rising.

I've written to them to suggest they do a maternity and nursing range - my normal 32Gs became a 36HH at the end of pregnancy and now bfing so high street clothes are hard to fit. They said they had no plans to embark on this :)
