What should I wear over my wedding dress if it's cold?

I'm getting married in September and although I'm hoping for summery weather, I'm not relying on it. I'm wearing this dress.

I'm 29 (will be 30 by the wedding), a size 16, and pale with ginger hair. The dress is loads more 'bridey' than I had expected to go for but I love the shape it gives me. I thought I'd pick something tea-length and retro looking as that's a bit more my style. The wedding colours are grey and yellow.

I'm just not sure what to wear over it. A shawl or pashmina just feels a bit old fashioned and traditional. So I've been thinking of a yellow or grey cardigan, to make it a bit more casual?

Bit ofa random suggestion but when I sometimes have to be outside all day in the freezing cold I use the heat patches that stick to your skin which are supposed to be for bad backs. If you stick them on your lower back it keeps your whole body warm. I had one standing by for my September wedding just in case! Not very glamorous but only you will know its there and you can whip it off whenever! I never ended up using it as it was a beautiful day but was good to know it was in my bag if needed.

Are you sure you don't want a cardi OP? Kate Middleton angora bolero style (and on sale!!) monsson
I think it's gorgeous and perfect for a wedding dress.

Ooh, Alicia, that's exactly the sort of thing I'd had in mind! but it's out of stock. Plus, I've been won over by the wrap/shawl/pashmina brigade.

I've ordered the Coast pearl wrap recommended by Ginger.

Thanks again everyone!
