Grin hmm I feel mine could do with that level of descaling.

You are a brave woman!

hugoagogo · 27/06/2014 20:56

respect

misscph1973 · 27/06/2014 20:59

Well done! My DH cut offf the hard skin on the side of his foot with a Stanley knnife the other day.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 27/06/2014 21:10

You can keep going for a good twenty seconds if your skins hard.

And, misses73...your husband sounds HARD!

I also gave my snout a quick exfoliation with sonicare and bicarb. Nice n smooth!

Oh I so need this... in a few weeks. Just had an op on my foot and the build up of hard dry skin is absolutely disgusting!

caramelwaffle · 27/06/2014 21:17

You are either genius...or mad.

Are you a man perchance? (Different skin)

IrishBloodEnglishHeart · 27/06/2014 21:26

I thought this was going to be a joke. U R HARDCORE!

I see a Channel 4 series in this somewhere, showing how everyday power tools and household appliances can be part of your beauty routine.

I swear my skin never felt better than when I'd spent 4 hours stripping the wall paper off my living room wall with a steam stripper.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 27/06/2014 21:34

I was using my pedicure kit, but I swear it wasn't cutting it, so to speak. I only had twenty mins before picking up child from school, so pluggrd in sander and blitzed it. Saved me at least a couple of hours work!

And yes, morrissey fan, I've had that too.....beautiful glory skin after!

I'm a skint housewife, need to be resourceful....

Any other tips???

My delightful DH used a drill with the potato peeler to peel a load of apples he was pureeing for DD.
I found our by the pic he posted on fb of the mess.
Does that count?

MyrtleDove · 27/06/2014 21:47

Ooh Fergus don't use bicarb on your skin - damages the acid mantle of your skin which is really important for protecting your skin, and damaging the acid mantle also means it's easier for your skin to get sun damaged.

Chemical exfoliants are much gentler on your skin than physical exfoliants (eg anything using scrubby bits) - for an easy DIY one you can use natural yogurt as a mask. It contains lactic acid which is a natural exfoliator. If you buy one, get something with lactic or glycolic acid.

IrishBloodEnglishHeart · 27/06/2014 21:48

Haha! Being financially challenged myself, I often use coffee grinds as an exfoliator. They work.

Justgotosleepnow · 27/06/2014 21:57

Oh I use coffee grinds too, but only on my bum & thighs. Isn't the caffeine supposed to be cellulite busting?

I use olive oil for everything. Bit of a mantra in our house.

StealthPolarBear · 27/06/2014 21:59
Shock Masochist :o (Secretly jealous of your daring)
FergusSingsTheBlues · 27/06/2014 22:00

Oops.....so there's a reason why people don't scub their nose with electronic toothbrush...does that mean that dermaflannel is bad too? Ill use yoghurt mask tomorrow.

We use police oil for everything too, and coconut oil too...

Police oil?? It gets worse and worse. You lot are mental

ushiemama · 27/06/2014 22:28

Over done the Self Tan on the legs last week, didn't have any exfoliating
scrub, used CIF Cream Cleanser. It done the job, legs are lovely & smooth. Will be using the same again.

IrishBloodEnglishHeart · 27/06/2014 22:49

What is Police Oil? Is that a real thing or is it an autocorrect thing? Confused

StealthPolarBear · 27/06/2014 22:52

Guessing it started life as olive oil

IrishBloodEnglishHeart · 27/06/2014 23:00

Ah yes. That makes sense. Kind of Grin

pigleychez · 27/06/2014 23:27

Flexitol heel cream works wonders at keeping feet soft.

smoother in cream and wear socks overnight helps too.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 28/06/2014 11:15

Omg CIF! What a great idea (adds to list)

My feet are the colour and softness of parmesan...although my balls of feet are almost pink! It's scary that ones feet might be do bad that even a sander struggled.

OP posts:
FergusSingsTheBlues · 28/06/2014 11:16

Olive oil, yes. Although police oil sounds much more Impressive.

OP posts:
FergusSingsTheBlues · 28/06/2014 11:17

Apparently rose hip oil restores acid mantle if anybody else has been butchering their skin like me

OP posts:
MyrtleDove · 28/06/2014 22:55

Fergus it's just the bicarb that's no good for the skin - using a clarisonic or a flannel or other physical exfoliator is fine, it's just that chemical exfoliants are much more gentle. Bicarb damages the acid mantle because of its chemical composition, not because it's physically scrubby. You could try a sugar scrub instead if you miss the scrubbiness.

catinbootz · 28/06/2014 23:03

I see your sander and raise you an angle grinder.

DH did his mate's feet with one not sober

Like a baby's bum they were the next day

I have also previously tried to remove the little mouth ulcers on the edge of my tongue with a soldering iron on the advice of Dr Google also not sober

Grin
