Possible bonkers Q, but how do you tell your black tights apart??

I've got a few pairs and aside from my 100 dernier pair I can't really tell the others apart unless I go to the bother of putting a leg in. Only a recent regular tights wearer too as usually wear trousers to work.

I bought tights from M&S today which had a little label in the back with type & dernier - genius! Why don't all tights manufacturers do this??

What do most people do to tell their tights apart? Or do you all just do the 'one leg in' test too? Grin

I stick my hand in with fingers spread out.

bouquetofpencils · 24/06/2014 20:48

Put them in different drawers?

Quangle · 24/06/2014 21:31

I have this problem except it's with navy and black tights. I repeatedly go to work with the wrong colour on and only notice in full daylight (am usually getting dressed in the dark due to sleeping child in the bed). There is no label otherwise I would mark them. I try to keep them in separate drawers but since they usually get sorted in half light it's not foolproof either.

Redcoats · 24/06/2014 21:33

I buy all the same.

MelanieCheeks · 24/06/2014 21:33

Mine are either opaque or sheer-ish. Pretty easy to tell apart. What are the different ones you need distinguishing?

MelanieCheeks · 24/06/2014 21:34

Roll one type into a ball, tie the others into a knot.

Trillions · 24/06/2014 21:36

Keep them in separate labelled ziploc bags. Also only buy the same two sorts of tights, ever.

coffeeinbed · 24/06/2014 21:38

I just go with clean as opposed to dirty and laddered vs good.
It's a system that's served me well.

The ones with holes and the ones without.

mineofuselessinformation · 24/06/2014 21:40

...or just stitch a different coloured thread in the seam of each type.

sittingatmydeskagain · 24/06/2014 21:43

Do you have more than one type of black tights? Mine all look the same. Confused

coffeeinbed · 24/06/2014 21:43

I optimistically keep the labels, but then it all gets jumbled up.

OP, you're fighting a losing battle.

BikeRunSki · 24/06/2014 21:46

I tie them in a knot, if I really want to distinguish one pair.

PaperPomPom · 24/06/2014 23:13

I have 60 denier or nudes. No confusion there.

confusion77 · 24/06/2014 23:16

Agree stick ahand in. Spread fingers. I have loads of tights all in one drawer, all folded in thirds.

Don't have a problem.

u32ng · 25/06/2014 06:48

coffeeinbed haha love it!

Think I will start buying all same tights & any variations will just stick in a labelled clear bag.

I put a tiny bit of nail varnish in my dd's tights as they all look the same but hers are smaller than mine. Thread seemed like way too much effort!

Dancergirl · 25/06/2014 06:58

I only buy m and s tights for this reason!

SoldeInvierno · 25/06/2014 07:41

A dot of nail varnish at the back before the first wear. Unless they are Falke, which are labelled

ElephantsNeverForgive · 25/06/2014 07:54

Nail vanish is genius, can I steal that idea.

Two tight wearing teen DDs, now DD2 has shot up to adult hight, I haven't a clue who's are who's

aylesburyduck · 25/06/2014 08:48

I must learn the art of wearing tights.

I am fine with opaques but unfortunately all others don't last more than one wear. My mother despairs that both my sister and I cannot wear a pair more than once.
