Can I make a confession please ?

"I am 24 years old and I HATE Topshop".

Always have done. Their fabrics are grim and the cut is always so grotesquely, painfully, tryingtohard fashionable that even as an 18yr old waif (with norks, ) I felt out of place.

NomDePlume · 07/09/2006 10:18

Ah, I'm 5ft 7, so petite is a bit of a no-go for me

There are loads of chic (and a bit more sophisticated) young things wearing city shorts and gorgeous sky-high heels hanging about the city centre on a Saturday night where I live.

nailpolish · 07/09/2006 10:18

mazzy, very chic dahling

we go only for my or dh's birthdays

i have the highest of the high shiny pointy black heels. shall wear them, but will have to sink a few to be able to dance in them

The trouble is that whenever I see young folk in town of a weekend in something too fashionable for it's own good, they almost always look faintly ridiculous or tarty.

coderoo · 07/09/2006 10:21

yes

FoghornLeghorn · 07/09/2006 10:21

Just goes to show how 'out' I am then. I would've gone for shorts, top and heels myself

nailpolish · 07/09/2006 10:21

ndp, what was the point of that last post?? spell it out babe!

OP posts:
NomDePlume · 07/09/2006 10:22

I'm the wrong person for 'fashion' advice. I know what suits me and I stick to that.

nailpolish · 07/09/2006 10:22

but i want a dress

might sneakily order first tarty one just to try it on

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 07/09/2006 10:22

usually tarty

HATE tarty - there is just no need to flash so much flesh to look sexy

Ooooh, I am ooooold!

FoghornLeghorn · 07/09/2006 10:22

Am with you on Topshop too NDP, I am 22 and very very rarely buy anything from there, just not me.

nailpolish · 07/09/2006 10:23

oh right ndp

i get ya
