what beauty and grooming tasks do you hate?

Just on way for leg and bikini wax and been thinking about how much I hate it - its still fairly painful even though I've been waxing for years and its a faff. I only do it coz the results are so much longer lasting than shaving. Will be glad when its done.

Also find the hairdresser a faff. I love the results but don't look forward to the process much - I have tons of hair so colour and cut takes 3 hours!

Never had one but don't think I could be bothered with a facial

What are your beauty bores?

I also hate washing my face at night! I seem to get water everywhere, I end up with wet hair, and it's just a huge faff. So I use baby lotion as a cleanser, followed by toner and moisturiser. I confess that I hardly ever remove my eye make up at night, I just leave it til I go in the shower the following morning. DH is used to mascara on the pillowcases!

Pennastucky · 17/06/2014 20:12

Fake (fucking!) tanning. I look so much better when I do it, but its time consuming and anxiety-inducing (will it streak?!), stinks and means having to arse about with no clothes on for half an hour.

I get my eyebrows threaded and 'tache waxed. Ouch. Kills.

I find flossing my teeth a chore, and only do it every 2-3 days (sorry...grim)...its just so laborious and boring on top of brushing.

I put off dyeing my roots until its utterly shabby, as find that process dull as shit, too.

Doinmummy · 17/06/2014 20:18

I've tried epilating but was nearly sick with the pain. I has 6 sessions of IPL but it didn't do much really.

WildBillfemale · 17/06/2014 20:22

Trimming fanny hair (with one of those little trimmers) and flossing (teeth)

Beaverfeaver2 · 17/06/2014 20:39

I hate going to te hairdresser.

So I stopped over a year ago now and do it myself.

Saved so much time, money and stress!

Lndnmummy · 17/06/2014 21:11

Hate most of it actually, find it boring but needs must. Dislike shaving/waxing and hate nail salons. The drying time is so boring.

aftereight · 17/06/2014 21:56

Hate removing nail varnish from my toes.
And fake tanning, because of the smell.
And shaving my legs in the shower.
And trimming my ladygarden Grin

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2014 23:07

I hate applying suncream. Or anything else which needs to be rubbed in all over. What a faff.

I also find drying my hair a bore. I have a BBH but it still takes too long.

Amethyst24 · 17/06/2014 23:38

I detest doing my nails. Worst chose ever.

HeyBungalowBill · 18/06/2014 09:26

I hate everything!!

Applying make up
Removing make up
Shaving/waxing
Trimming/shaving the lady area
Showering (always tired when DS is in bed so it feels like a chore)
Drying and straightening my hair

I do it all most days though Hmm

I can't be bothered to paint my nails as I know I won't take it off when it chips Grin
I occasionally do my toe nails as it stays on for ages!

TheBookofRuth · 18/06/2014 09:41

Washing my hair. It's fine and curly but there's lots and lots of it and it gets so, so tangled - literally goes into clumps at the back of my head. Washing it makes it tangled, and then I have to spend ages conditioning it and trying to ease out the knots. It's painful and boring and time-consuming (takes at least 30 mins), and my arms ache afterwards. I may get it chopped to a pixie cut after DS is born, which is a shame because once once and dried it's rather magnificent.

I also hate removing make up. I look much better with it but often don't bother because I can't face the thought of having to take it off later.

Greenstone · 18/06/2014 10:27

Hate it all, so dull, but always feel so much better when basic grooming is done. HATE doing my roots, hate waxing (I never shave). I'd been waxing at home for years but the last 2 months I just got them done professionally and ohhhhh it's sooooo much better and quicker. Worth the money IMO. I'm also planning to get lashes tinted regularly if possible because I can never be arsed with mascara - hate the stuff, it always looks so fake on me!

Fake tan is the worst but I look so much healthier when I take the time to do it right, i.e. just a very very light touch. Sadly I can only find the time to do this once in a blue moon!

Blithereens · 18/06/2014 10:33

Shaving my legs. Shower cubicle is so small you can't bend down in it, so I have to get out and stand on the mat and try not to get water everywhere. Can't stand the pain of waxing though! As a result I have hairy legs more often than not.

Hairdresser. I don't go anymore. I have embraced my natural mousey colour and learned to trim it myself!

ThisBitchIsResting · 18/06/2014 16:06

This thread shows what a load of bollocks the concept of 'pampering' is.

Mine is doing my toes, I have a gel pedi ATM and it is a revelation, I am maintaining this so I don't have to go near the buggers myself.

KoalaDownUnder · 18/06/2014 16:33

I hate all of it, too, and find the concept of 'pampering' hilarious.

Mostly I hate dealing with bikini line hair. Waxing made me want to throw up (the one time I had it done) and Nair and shaving both have they're drawbacks. Grrr.

KoalaDownUnder · 18/06/2014 16:34

Wrong 'their', bastard autocorrect.

Hopefully · 18/06/2014 16:39

Fake tan - I just don't, it is the devil's own chore.

Plucking eyebrows - I know it takes about three minutes but I hate hate hate it.

kaykayblue · 18/06/2014 16:40

I find shaving and eye brow plucking a bit of a faff, but the thing that I rarely do because it annoys me so much is....using body cream.

Urgh!! It takes so long to absorb, and ages to get the stuff on then you have to re wash your hands, then you have to basically just trudge around naked until the cream is totally dry.

My skin definitely loves it when I make the effort to use body cream a few times a week, but I just hate it SO much.

LittleMachine · 18/06/2014 20:43

I hate all of it. It's so dull. I'm always doing this face Hmm at people who put 'Having a nice little pamper night' as their Facebook status, because it is just not my idea of fun at all. I wish it was!
Finding hair washing particularly tiresome at the moment, as my hair is coming out in handfuls.

moggiesmum · 18/06/2014 21:12

Rootypig I am glad to hear you say the Big Hair makes your hair thin - - I have one and was looking forward to big voluminous hair ( as mine is thin and flat normally) but all it does is make my hair thin and straight - thought it was just me Confused

u32ng · 20/06/2014 21:38

Haha this thread is brilliant! Glad to know I'm not alone in my can't-be-arsedness & some of the replies have made me guffaw Grin

Here's my list of gripes:
*Body moisturiser (but I have been forcing myself due to the season!)
*Face washing & general make up removal
*Putting on make up
*Blow drying hair (almost never bother now & just tie it back to dry. One of the few benefits of thin hair!)
*Hair removal of all kinds (but I can't stand having hairy pits!)
*Nail polish removal (only after a long period of scabby chipped-ness do I bother)
*Showering (I'm a faffer & cannot seem to do it quickly!)

I do this stuff but it IS a chore! I'm such a lazy bum!

ThisBitchIsResting · 20/06/2014 22:00

It's pretty much like cleaning, isn't it. I like having a clean and tidy house, but I hate the actual scrubbing and dusting.

Women's work eh? Hmm

I'd rather pay a cleaner and go to a beautician, sadly I can't afford either so spend an inordinate amount of my day on house and self maintenance.

shortaris1 · 20/06/2014 22:21

Can't be bothered with shaving legs or lady bits so often resemble a kiwi fruit! SUCH a faff and still always cut myself despite doing it for over 20 year Hmm

dashoflime · 20/06/2014 22:38

I hate all of it. And largely don't bother with anything. I shower with soap and water. Hair wash and condition. Shave pits when they start noticeably smelling. And that's it! No make up. No bloody moisturising. No fake tan. Leggings over hairy legs. Can't be arsed with any of it.

Corygal · 20/06/2014 22:55

Another vote for the foul job of heel scraping. I loathe it - despite scrubbing and scraping feet daily, my feet still look like a leper's crumbling stumps.

And foot cream costs a fortune, greases up the bed and catches you unawares at 3am when you slip, yelping in pain as you struggle to go for a nightime piss.
